I took a private with her at Pole Con in 2012. Mind you, i have 15 pounds heavier than i am now, could not invert at the time, my strength and skills were like nothing at the time… She worked with me really well. She didnt make me feel unworthy and I actually got a lot out of her private.. It made my entire trip worth it.
Maybe she is one of those teachers that works better one on one?? My trapeze teacher is like this in my area. She is not as good for group barre classes on the ground as she is with in the air privates.. She comes off snotty when in large groups, even though I know she’s not; I think large groups overwhelm her.. Maybe Alethea is the same way? 😉

I absoultely hate what they have done with website for Pole Con. When I went in 2012, everything was much more organized on the site and all the workshop selections had description, now it doesnt seem to be that way. The layout is totally different

Staci- you never even mentioned what finish you owned from X-pole, and if you own a studioveena pole than that is odviously powder coat, so I am curious on why just a platinum stages pole? I would focus a determine what kind of pole finish you want and go from there…
And I actually own a 45mm brass Platinum Stages pole. Each finish has something good to offer, in my opinion.. If you think x-poles are slippery (i’m assuming you have owned chrome??) then you should love the Studioveena pole… Brass is a really grippy material and I personally love the grip on the StudioVeena pole more.. I was able to try it and plan to purchase one fairly soon. -

MemberJanuary 10, 2014 at 12:22 am in reply to: Why You Should Sign-Up for StudioVeena LessonsWell written! This is another thing I love about StudioVeena. There are so many talented, intelligent, and creative women and men that make up this community. I had the honor of meeting Veena and Webmaster this past September, and let me just say, they really love and put their lives into this site for us. Their job does not stop. Anytime I have ever posted and needed help with a lesson or something in particular, Veena ALWAYS responds within 3 hours. Same goes for Webmaster if it’s a technical issue like not receiving emails, etc.
I believe that anyone can be a successful poler if he or she uses the Veena method. I know for a fact that I would have gave up pole a long time ago had it not been for this site, like most of you that just said so. My story is similar with pole studios in my area, too, and it really is sad how much this happens.
This site has helped me is so many ways. I have a burning desire to travel the World, and I am so fascinated about other people’s way of life. It could have had to do with being younger a few years ago, but before StudioVeena, I was never interested in the rest of World. I was so consumed and uncultured to some things– even though I live in a very culture rich city, it still doesn’t mean I was exposed enough to make me well rounded as I would like to be.
StudioVeena keeps me stimulated as far as reading and researching. If a particular topic comes up, let’s say, pole finishes– I have even dwelled into chemistry research so I can familiarize myself with different metals, etc.StudioVeena helps me to be a better me, and to always improve who I am as a person. It helps me hone in on communication and writing skills, something I always felt like I was terrible at. But come to find out, I’m not so bad and it has improved over the years because of this site..
I’ve met people in person and have developed friendships, that I am certain will last a lifetime.
I am so honored to be a member and I have never felt so apart of a group in my entire life. I love watching videos and the feeling that I get sometimes when I just know someone is an old soul. When a poler glistens with inspiration.
Aside from the obvious feelings like love, feeling inspried is one of the best feelings I have ever felt. And because of Veena and Webmaster, I have a safe haven to visit every single damn day that provides almost everything I need to be a humble, happy human being.

Jesika– Also, Pole Expo is held in September in Las Vegas every year. Pole Con is the one that changes cities every year… She keeps it to Washington DC, Los Angeles, and West Palm Beach. Pole Con 2015 will probably be in Los Angeles again
-
@Jesikah8- I’ve been to Pole Con 2012 in Los Angeles and Pole Expo in Las Vegas this past September. Both were wonderful events!
Pole Con is a much more organized event and had more vendors and the registration process ran so smoothly. They had it all on point. However, I didn’t care for the city too much from what I got to see of it. There was a huge showcase and after party for everyone.Pole Expo was unorganized but still a great event. There was a competition instead of a showcase, and it was definitely more lively and energetic than pole con performances. But really, being there is worth every penny whether it’s a showcase or competition. They hosted an after-party too but it was separated… the pole stars went to private party… At pole con, they did not do this… We were altogether and were able to mingle with everyone like Alethea, Karol, and Cleo… etc.
Both events had a lot of workshops to offer for purchase. Both do offer free workshops– Pole Con had WAYYY better free workshops- they actually had free pole workshops as where, Pole Expo didn’t– Pole expo only had free flexibility and other random demonstrations out in the open in the vendor area… I was kind of disappointed in this…
Pole Expo did however, offer aerial silks, more conditioning classes, Chinese pole, fly gym, as well as, pole.
Pole Con only had pole and flexibility workshops in 2012.
Both events are the only ones I can speak for since I’ve been to them..

😉 😉 I hope this helped -
Pole Convention looks really interesting since it’s being held in Washington DC.. I even thought if I can try and make that one, then i would try to plan a little extra time to take the 2 1/2 hour road trip to NYC!! Really don’t know yet… We shall see

my ribs pop out of place all the time and put strain on my rhomboid and trapezius. h
when the chiropractor pops in back in, i always feel new again. i have to keep going though to not feel pain. sometimes i feel my rib shift out again when i pole -
nymphdancer- I can definitely relate your comment. I received a comment recently that I am wearing a thong in my profile picture on facebook, when in actual reality, it is my shorts
-
I have a I love rock n pole tanks and her leopard booty hot pants. I wore them both together last night for practice actually. Her leopard bottoms are the one I’m wearing in my profile pic. Love her clothing

i agree with what Kobajo said about the instructors.. This is very true that instructors have a huge impact on students.
However, i don’t think a dress code should be applied to students.. -
I think a dress code is ridiculous. Has there been any complaints from other students? I wouldn’t be too concerned right now until its implemented. It might be one of those things that student’s might not follow.. and at that point the owner is jeopardizing her business and loyal clients… Do most of the students wear little shorts like the brazil cut?

I have tried the SV pole in person and I currently own a 45mm brass and have extremely sweaty hands… When I tried the SV pole I didn’t have and dry hands (my saving grace for my crazy sweaty hands) and I found I was able to do more the SV pole without grip aid than I normally would have at home with my brass with no grip aid.
The SV is my next purchase. Hands down.
I do want to buy a stage pole eventually too -
oh and speaking of kiki.. She is a remi beast as poler girl stated. She is the one that taught me the remi through Skype! I never would have tried the move had it not been for her
-
I’ve been practicing this move a lot lately. Do not worry about leaning back at first. Get the hang of actually sitting in it… It should not hurt your foot or ankle, if it hurts too much you are not engaging your crossed leg enough. You need to squeeze the crap out of so it take most of the force and bearing most of your weight. I mastered sitting in it before I started leaning back though. It gets better. Laybacks are not my forte though, but just take it in small steps. Everyone gave great tips

I really want to do Zoraya’s next level training and it seems like it is worth every penny.. i just can’t put out the cash right now.. Hopefully they are still doing it in the next year or two…

I have for about 4 years now, even before pole. The polers and studios there make me want to visit even more and Malaysia would definitely be a pit stop if i do go 😉

They are close-minded and have a barrier that they choose to put up. Sometimes we let the people that we did not choose to be in our lives (family members) and allow their judgement get the best of us… Which is exactly what i did yesterday. I don’t even know why I expected anything different which is why I TRY to keep my interests as a topic of conversation at a minimum with them..

MemberDecember 4, 2013 at 9:05 pm in reply to: Have you ever met someone in person from SV?CapFeb- YEP! That’s what I said. These are the people in my family that complain about how they wish they would have chose their friends more wisely when they were younger and now its too late to find “true friends” it’s a logical fallacy in my opinion…
Instead of crying about it SOLVE the problem. Venture out and meet people. Don’t judge me because I seek people who are interested in pole, and I happen to have to use the internet to find pole enthusiast… As if we know when we are in 2nd grade, “Hey Cassie, UM i am going to fall in love with pole dancing when I am 20 years old. Will you promise to still by my friend then and join me?” as if…“so this is how it works…You pick a human, and decide, oh i like this one.. and you just do stuff with it… ” i read that earlier actually, it was a mime floating around.. haha!

I’ve had nothing but great experiences from meeting members in person! I hope to meet even more someday, especially all you ladies from England and Australia! Although we don’t have a lot of members from new orleans, la, i’m sure more will pop up in the future!
I was browsing around yesterday and thought to myself, how lucky am I to be apart of a website that has so many beautiful women with raw talent that make the CHOICE to share their progress with us!
i scanned the newsfeed and 5 members in a row were all from different countries. blows me away. i love it!

You know where I lives already hahaha! I met another SV member and I said it in passing that I was thinking of meeting another friend in person from here.. And then it was a whole lecture. They didn’t realize that this won’t be my first time meeting someone online but I wanted to see if others have experienced this too and what’s everyone’s take on it 🙂
