Pencil hold with straight legs then go into a basic plank then back up to a pole sit… I may have the terminology wrong but i may try and post a video in a few days.
Also, dirdy birdy on youtube has some pretty spin mode basic combos. Check her out

Great advice Trixie! Thats exactly what I dis for my private with Alethea at the convention and she was absoultely amazing!!! I told her I was a beginner and she said No problem, that means we get to work on supermans ;)!

I went in there with a list of the stretches off her dvds and I wanted to make sure I was doing them right. We went through all of the ones I wrote down and she checked my form for everything. She also helped me with shoulder rolls, and I realized I was doing them wrong. They way she broke it down was amazing! I would absolutely love to take another lesson with her again sometime. 🙂
I think that is why I enjoyed the lesson so much is because I went in there prepared on the things that I wanted to work on and what she is known for 🙂

Scarlett- Even though I cannot physically perform the trick, I still remember exactly how she taught it. It stuck with me- she broke it down great! The good thing about the workshop that I did was that it was all levels- but I still found it too little too advanced for me. She incorporated a good amount of stretching too and watching her method of teaching was worth it for me 🙂

I made the huge mistake of taking a workshop with Marion Crampe at the pole convention. I should have known better because it was way too advanced for me… but considering I have watched your videos and see your strength- you will be fine 😉
I am still glad I went so I could actually watch- thank god I was not the only one who couldnt do much.
She taught the marion amber. She also taught this really cool tricks that I half away did- i cannot remember the name and I cannot find it for the life of me on youtube. The workshop was 90mins… 45mins of it was just warm up and stretch and she works you out! Which was really nice for me.
She is super funny and helpful. Enjoy

I am almost always sore the next day, but I am always sorest (is that a word?) on the second day!
There was a point I was doing a strength boot camp that was three days a week (mon, wed, fri) and by the time wednesday rolled around I was super sore, but pushed through the workout anway.

Scarletthoney gave some really good advice- even put on smile on face because I remember being where you are right now!
What I can promise you is it will get better after time and practice! And believe it WILL improve! 🙂

well i have a size large in her shorts… if you look at one my recent video and judge by my body type… I have a 30 inch waist- i wear about a size 10.

The shorts fit like underwear- i love them though… they are comfortable

August 14, 2012 at 10:26 pm in reply to: Newbie Here! Too akward and not in shape enough for pole dancing?

I have been poling dancing for a year and a half. I am by NO means where I want to be. My inverts are not strong at all so i refrain from doing them. I have listened to my body and I could probably push myself harder than I do, but I am personally terrified of injuring myself so I have taken my journey especially slow. I know what my limits are.. Its not about how many spins and tricks you can do- its about enjoying what you do while you are doing it 🙂
The credit that I can give myself is that I have come a long way from when i first started…
Just to give you an idea of how out of shape and weak I was- it took me 3 months to be able to climb properly and all the way to the top of the pole. That was going to a class once a week. Not really doing any strength training like I should have been. This was before I found Veenas site.
I have read blogs where some teachers on here say they have had students take up to two years to be able to invert properly- and some only two months, but it is possible no matter where your fitness level stands now..
I promise it will get better… There have been days in the past that I have shed tears about pole until I found this site and read blogs about other polers and their journey!!
It really is a personalized sport…
    Do what makes you happy!
And I agree with everyone else- There is nothing wrong with you 😉

Its like a one piece designed for poling. She has different designs. Some go around the neck- some criss cross in the back. Some have tie sides on the bottom and some do not. There is open area on the torso so you can still grip the pole with your skin. The good thing about sweet vixen is she can make the top and the bottom different sizes. So if your measurments are given to her you can almost bet that it will be a perfect fit.

Also- the sweet vixen couture has a wide crotch and no centre seam! Very great coverage and super soft and comfy!!
Oona’s shorts look really comfy too

I like my sweet vixen couture booty shorts.. They are alethea austins signature “push past” shorts but sweet vixen makes them for her… I am so excited to order more shorts in the draw string style and i really want to invest in a catsuit.

As far as lululemon- i absolutely LOVE all of their products! I recently purchased a sports bra from there and that is the only top i have been poling in lately.
Lyme- i hear the tata tamer bra from lulu is perfect for bigger chests gals!
Besides my sweet vixen shorts- i have not found the “perfect” pole shorts… Have not invested in lululemon shorts yet- i own about 3 pairs of lulu pants and some tanks but no shorts- it is time 🙂
I really would like to give mika yoga wear and dirdy birdys line a try too!
Also- Oona realeased her clothing line in june! 🙂

I also wanted to add- some of the best polers have small breasts… Alethea austin being one of my favorites and having really small breasts.

I have been unhappy with my breasts majority of my life. I have a small A.. 🙁
But over the last year i have really grown to like them because of pole. Of course I do not think I will ever love them or like them 100% but I say my likeness of them has improved drastically!
I have a very large round booty- so i always felt unproportioned. I am still debating on implants. But i can say i like what pole has done to my small beastlings thus far. They are perkier and have rounded out their shape… I have been worried about the side effects of having implants if i want to continue to progress with pole- every doctor i have had a consult with (4 docs) all recommended the implants be placed under the muscle due to the lack of breast tissue i have now- for optimal desired shape after recovery… And under the muscle i hear takes longer to recover from and some women have noted that their implants are pushed down on when they are poling… It has been a lot for me to think about so the decision lies in the middle of the road for me- i have put it off for now.
I do not think i will ever go through with it if I continue to be so 50/50 o my decision.

I have all four- the two stretching and the two floorwork! For someone like myself who has always had a hard time in heels- her ankle exercises and tips helped me so much!!! Her stretching dvds got me into my side splits in 3months when i never did a split in my life.. I also incorporated veenas stretching routines too- which made it a great balance 🙂

Yes i have brass too… I read something a while back that need to be broken in… But i cannot get past using them to actually break them in. It also feels like its harder to keep my hand squeezed around the pole… I dont think they are too small- because they fit just right… Maybe i will give them a try again just to see

I live in a very HOT humid environment. The saying goes, “we’re heading south for the winter”- well i like to say,”i’m heading north for the summer” Lol
Anyways- i use tite grip 30minutes before pole and then use dry hands. Tite grip is exactly what sensual said- its an anti persperiant. I personally HATE my mighty grip gloves. I have tried and tried to use them and i do not like them. Not to bash the product or anything- i personally cannot wear them for a pole session. Maybe they just havent been broken in?.. They make me slide down…
I can tell you- the stronger you become the better your grip will be. Polers can throw on all the grip aid they want, but if the strength is not there then the move cannot be executed…
I have taken my pole journey very slow because Its not about how many tricks you can do in one practice. Its about enjoying what you do while you are doing it. And building strength to eventually do the tricks you would like to do when you are ready. This has just been MY personal experience with pole!
    😉 😉

  • I hate the plastic piece at the bottom of my pole. Its hard if i am trying some new from the ground. But i can say the plastic is very durable. Is there a way for you to return the pole? Maybe you can buy a different brand?

When i was little my dad remarried and i lived with him and my step mom for a few months. My stepmom is ten years old than my dad and has a granddaughter my age. Sabra and I spent a lot of time together when i lived with my dad- and they would let us run around in just our underwear with no shirt on outside (they lived in the country at the time in east Texas)
Looking back on it now as an adult, there was nothing wrong with my father and stepmom letting us do that.
Well when i moved back in with my mom a few months later (i was only 4-5 at the time) she threw the biggest deal about me not wanting to wear shirt.
She looked at it as being very inappropriate and unexceptable. I can see why she would feel that way because we have always lived in the suburbs with many neighbors. But at the same time- I wish it wouldnt have been such an issue because as I child I was confused to why she was upset and then I started looking self consciously at my body.
Now i am not blaming my mother for the way I feel but at the same time- I would try my hardest to handle that situation differently if I had a daughter. Instead I was fussed and there was no explanation to where I could understand. From then on- i viewed the naked body as a blinding sight until I became older and wouldnt even change in front of friends

I love dancing to deftones, korn, and metallica! That is so awesome that you guys use to play, veena!
Some of the songs are a little intimidating to dance to because they are fast- but Rikki gave some great advice on this issue 🙂
    Great post!

    First and foremost-
    1. The LOVE of my life Aaron Paul Blanco boyfriend of almost 6 years- who has helped me through some much in my life! I would not trade him for the world.
    2. My voice. The ability to speak and express my opinions. The GIFT to use two tiny bands of muscle located in our throat that produce sounds and words through vibrations. I lost my voice for over a year due to a vocal cord tumor that was bengin. Thankful for the wonderful doctor i have that was able to perform the surgery and give me my voice back. And to the speech pathologist that worked with me for a year after that 😉
    3. POLE- for giving me an outlet which i discovered during my voice troubles. For being something so rewarding. And giving me the satisfaction of finally discovering something healthy and productive that I enjoy. Something that I have never felt before pole. Pole has taught me dedication and patience results to rewarding progress
    3. My wonderful loving animals
    4. My mom just making a year of sobriety from 20 years of alcholism.

My list can go on- but these are the things i am most thankful for… Not some much neccessarily one more important than the other but the four thing i am most greatful for!!!
