If you’re in the US, the R-pole is very expensive and I know the pole is not as tall as the X-stage. I just got an X-stage Lite for the same reason as you (no good ceiling for a pole in the home I’m currently living in) and I absolutely love it! Well worth the money, and well worth saving up all summer for it 😄 it is so heavy and feels extremely safe. Also be aware that the top of any freestanding pole will have a bit of give to it, since it’s only secured on the bottom end. It feels a bit weird at first but I’ve never felt unsafe at the top!

Not sure where Clarksfield is in relation to Minneapolis, but I just saw someone posted about selling their 50 mm chrome Xpert (stationary/static) in Minneapolis here on SV.
I personally started on a 50 mm chrome but eventually sold it and bought a 45 mm titanium gold. For me, I’m not a very tall lady and I have somewhat small hands, so the 50 mm was a bit too big for me (though I still learned quite a bit on my 50mm!). My hands also got very slippery on the chrome, even in colder weather, as I sweat pretty easily. That being said, everyone’s skin type and hand size is different and there are many people out there who enjoy using a 50 mm chrome pole.
A general rule I’ve heard is that larger diameter poles are easier to grip between your thighs but harder to grip with your hands (teaches you to build some great hand grip though!) whereas skinnier poles are easier to grip with your hands but more difficult to grip between your thighs. Before purchasing my 45 mm TG I went around my house with a measuring tape looking for things with 2″, 1.75″, and 1.5″ diameters! Lol! But it gives you an idea of how large a pole will be in relation to your hands (alternatively, I’m sure you could find different sized piping at a hardware/home improvement store). Hope that helps!

I keep justifying it as “I shouldn’t get the lessons until I get on a consistent pole schedule.” But now that I think of it, paying for lessons might force me to pole consistently!

My old bedroom had pretty low ceilings, probably around that height. I suppose it depends on your height but I am 5 foot 4.5 inches (~1.64 meters) tall and I was able to pole. The only issue was that I could not climb much, but I was still able to practice inverted tricks and such.

I agree with Saphyre. I originally thought using a grip aid was sort of "cheating," but I've had to deal with sweaty hands that literally slip right down the pole and that's just not safe. I understand the importance of having a strong grip, but at some point I feel no matter how strong the grip between your thighs/hands/any body part is, your skin type or the current weather conditions might just require grip aid to keep you poling safely!

I have to admit I wasn't exactly sure what i was looking at in those photos, but nonetheless thank you for sharing!! Definitely a reminder to take things slow / not overdo it and give our bodies the chance to fully recover when we are injured.

I wish him a speedy recovery!

Why didn’t I see this earlier? This exact thing just happened to me! I just got back on the pole about a week ago after a few month hiatus. Turns out I’d lost some strength and the morning after my pole session my mid-back muscles were sore from inverts/choppers (my shoulders and biceps also had this same type of post-workout soreness). A day or two later my muscles felt fine again! 🙂

Also, typo in the title. Leg HANG, not leg hand! 🙂

I feel totally silly asking, but am I missing something? Is "Christmas tree splits" an pole move, or just doing the splits near a Christmas tree? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

Sad to say, I got my pole about 8 months ago and my poling has been VERY on-and-off for me….mostly off than on. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I need to find time for it!
