Px90 has an app for $5. You can get the ab ripper workout free right now. You can also find google video of it which I think is better than the app. The app does make a sound during the workout and you have to know how to do the moves.

I can’t find any information for wind beneath my wings pole exercise boutique. Their FB page is blank. Do you have any website address?

I stopped by Xtreme Pole fitness and they seemed very nice. They were willing to work with me a couple of classes to be able to get into the next level.  I need to learn the butterfly to move up to their next level. Spartanburg is a ways from simpsonville but all the other studios had bad online reviews. What was your experience like? Thanks

I learn the move without heels and once comfortable then add the shoes. The number of people in class with shoes vary. We aren't allowed to use heels for new tricks because we always start over a trick mat. Some dance moves and floorwork can be easier with heels. I found mini-platforms (Pleaser) that I dance in most of the time. I tend to roll ankles in the taller heels, but I like the look when performing. I found shoes also help with preventing foot cramps 🙂

I do work out at home with the idea that the exercises complement pole on the days I can't go to open pole due to my schedule. I do circiut training, interval training, and sculting DVDs plus lots of ab and upper body work (my two weaknesses). I am not sure what to do streching wise without a pole. What would be a good goal besides splits?

The math never adds up for fun stuff. LOL. My boyfriend can't understand why I desire to spend $36 on a pair of short to pole in when I get a job. He basically said I pay $10 for my shorts and there is a lot more material. My response should have been that you definitely don't look as cute as I would.

I am debating looking at temp jobs so I am not competely broke while I study for boards and look for a job. Still trying not to be impulsive and buy a pole on my own 🙂

I have been able to video each of my routines that I learned for each level of the pole studio. I have shown them to my family members. But thery are convinced it is some kind of a fetish thing! My boyfriend is limitedly supportive but I guess he feels ackward about it. He is not okay with me performing in a studio showcase which I would like to do eventually. Part of me just wants to go ahead and buy it regardless of the consequences. Present to myself for 6.5 years of school and putting my life on hold. Until then I will try to be good and watch my pennies. Thanks for the support 🙂

  • I am a nurse practitioner student and sometimes wonder if any of the patient's pole dance. I wish I could recommend pole dancing to clients for exercise without worrying about the consequence of becoming "the provider who pole dances".

Unless someone is at an increased risk for injury, I don't think I would ever reccomend a different type of exercise. I am usually happy if someone is doing any type of exercise.

    Glad you are feeling better!

You finally start making those healthy goals (eat more fruits and workout) you set four years ago, because you really want to be your best poling.

I have a set of DVD from Shape Magazine that include one toning workout, circuit training, and  cardio interval scupt. There is also a cardio interval and 15 minutes of body targeted moves.

I love the DVDs because you can get a full work out in 30 minutes (including warm up and cool down). All you need is a set of dumbells and a mat/towel. There is an exercise band included with the DVD. They go it down to 30 minutes by combing exercises into one move. You do plies while doing bicep curles or overhead press while lunging. It takes balance and getting used to. Their abs section is light for anyone who is pole dancing though, but with all the balancing you basically are engaging your core all the time. They seem to complement pole dancing well.

I was suprised when I heard about not inverting during menstruation during a class. I did a quick literature of pubmed and cochrane library (medical research databases). I couldn't find a single study of physical activity with inverstions during menstruation. I did find an article that explained the yoga ideas behind not inverting during menstruation using google.

    http://www.yogajournal.com/basics/831

Overall research has shown exercise during menstruation improves menstrual symptoms including PMS and PMDD.

I liked the yoga authors idea of listening to your body. Even though it may look like alot, a 10-80mL loss is considered normal. It can also pool in the vagina and then come out quickly when you stand up. Lots of people think they are suddenly bleeding profusely when they just happened to be in a position that allowed for pooling and then they got up.

Below is a really good article about female athlete triad, which is more commonly seen in sports that require individuals to be low end or below healthy weight.

P.S. I do tend to have warm hand, because I just did some biofeedback by consciouslly warming my hand for stress reduction ( was really cool to raise skin temperature by 2 degrees)
