    Hello. I have am a nurse and will taking my nurse practitioner board next week. My areas of specialty will be primary care adult and women's health. While in school I worked at a vet clinic/boarding faciilty and renting camping gear.

    I feel it is about the same if you dance continuosly for 30 minutes. I like to add sexy squats and plies to condition my legs. You can also so leg raises. Not sure how to make a lunge sexy yet. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gifI I feel like my lower body needs the extra focus sometimes. If I really freestyle it is moderate to strenous exercise so I count it as cardio. I get about the same workout from my 30 minute cardio interval workouts.

    Getting in and out of superman. Can hold the pose but get all tangled and stuck trying to move. Ballerina – can’t figure out how to stay up. reverse grab- some success but usually get sore shoulders.

    Practice is key. I was scarred to climb above 6 ft. I found there were times when I felt a bit brave and went one climb higher. Each time it got closer to the top of the pole. On two occassions I would get so scared I had to sit there in a pole sit until I would calm down to come safely down. Diaphragmatic breathing or yoga type breathing can be helpful if you start panicking. It took me over 3 months to get to 14 ft. 

    With ariel moves, do only the basic ones that you feel totally comfortable doing. As you get more comfortable expand to your mastered moves. For safety, I don't do anything up high unless i can do it without a second thought close to the ground. Crashmats can also help the mental part. Be sure not to look down. Concentrate on the move you are executing rather than OMG the ground is so far away! Mentally talking your way from a move can help your mind focus.

    I like dancing in regular high quality bras. My whole family has very large breasts and found going to specialty shops helps a lot. there are some beautiful bras that come in large cup sizes. you could also have a semestress add more fabric if it is too sheer. Bra specialists also help with selecting the style, material, and construction that best fits your needs. I go to Intimacy (they have locations in major cities) but there are other good bras specialty shops.

    Polateaz – dancy. just started a new level with heidi coker. a few student compete.
    Dance 411 – don't know
    Verticals Joe's – booty and tricks
    Pole Waxers – tricks
    Spinarella – don't know
    Most of the studios have YouTube videos to see their dance styles. There are a few more in town too and then a few outside the perimeter. I know their general audience but not sure which would be more geared toward competiton. Most of the studios do groupon frequently for drop in classes if you want to shop studios on the cheap.  I think skittles moved to tx? but occasionally does returns for privates. Heidi Coker teaches at a few studios and i think she does privates also. Hope this helps.

    Update: I gave myself a pole for graduation! My family and boyfriend have given me money for birthday and christmas to pay for my exams. My mom and sister asked me about trying pole dancing after seeing my poler's butt.

    Sorry to hear your experience was poor. It is important at polelateaz to enroll in the series classes, which are actual pole instruction. Each series has a structured cirriculum. The drop in classes act to complement and expand your repitoire or give you a workout. The series classes are smaller especially past the first two level, which creates a more intimate setting and allows you to make friends. The drop in series are not ideal for making friends or learning new aerial moves. I wasn't sure which classes you had taken, but I thought I would let you know.  Hiedi Coker is going to start teaching the level 7 class.

    In town there is Dance 411, pole waxers, and verticle joes plus a few more that opened recently. There is also Dance Fitness in Peachtree City, which might be closer to you. I haven't been to these but some of my classmates have. They each have a different style and emphasis. Studio hopping is considered okay but a regular structured class can help create a good foundation and get you plugged into the community. Hope you find a studio that fits you.

    I went to polalateaz for a year which has a more dance focus. It is downtown. Which specific area are you moving to? There are a number of studios inside Atlanta and a few outside the perimeter.

    Unfortunetly there is no birth control that doesn't have the potential for side effects and the frequency and severity of those side effects vary. Most of the common side effects are documented and the rare serious ones are reported. It is more about what your individual reaction to each type is and how much you don't want to get pregnant for contraception purposes. It is important to always keep in mind when considering side effects what are the side effects of pregnancy let alone the whole having a baby . Unfortunately there is not prediction what each person will do until you try each method. Each woman is individual in her needs in term of ability to consistently use the method, acceptable side effects, level of effectiveness, acceptable risks, and desire for additional benefits from a method (ex, combine oral contraceptive frequently reduce cyst formation in PCOS and may reduce acne). "Contraceptive methods" can commonly be used as primary treatments for some problems.

    Some of the side effects can be fixed.  Ex: for people who have bleeding with progesterone only methods. Oral contraceptives were designed with estrogen to stablize the endometrium while the progesterone protects for pregnancy by suppressing ovulation and increasing cervial mucus. Unless estrogen is contraindicated, it can be used to stabilize the endometrium in theory. So far I haven't seen this implemented too often in practice unfortunately. Others such as a latex condom allergy can only be fixed by using a different type of condom. Side effects can also be a plus. If you want little to no peroid,  oral contraceptive and mirena are good for the majority of people.

    Contraceptive Technology is the "bible" used by healthcare providers. I like the http://bedsider.org/ because it helps you select methods based on your priorities. The authors of Contraceptive Technology are supposed to be writing a book called Safely Sexual that will be geared to the public. I am not sure quite what will be in it, but it is supposed to have contraception covered. Unfortunely even healthcare providers do not agree on methods. The midwives I work with don't reccomend lactation amenorrhea but I do as long as you can do it correctly and are okay with the effectiveness level I support it. The most important thing is to be well informed. Studies show if people are adequately educated they are more likely to continue their chosen method, which implies they are less likely to get pregnant.

    I apologize if this sounds like a rant or offended anyone. I am very passionate about helping women with their reproductive choices, so it is probably good that is what I plan to do (women's health nurse practitioner). I have future plans to work on easy to read patient handout explaining each method, common side effects, serious risks, and how to use the method in a two sided black and white page. I would like to be able to hand these out to patients to reinforce my family planning counseling. If anyone is interested in giving me feedback in the next year to help improve them, please message me .

    Technical notes: Mirena and Paraguard (IUDs available in US) are approved for use in women who have not had children. It may be more uncomfortable during/after insertion. Monogamy is also no longer a requirement for an IUD, because IUDs do not increase risk for pelvic infection. A 5lb weight gain and an increased risk of osteoporisis with a greater than 2 year use of depo have also been shown for depo.

    Px90 has an app for $5. You can get the ab ripper workout free right now. You can also find google video of it which I think is better than the app. The app does make a sound during the workout and you have to know how to do the moves.

    I stopped by Xtreme Pole fitness and they seemed very nice. They were willing to work with me a couple of classes to be able to get into the next level.  I need to learn the butterfly to move up to their next level. Spartanburg is a ways from simpsonville but all the other studios had bad online reviews. What was your experience like? Thanks

    I learn the move without heels and once comfortable then add the shoes. The number of people in class with shoes vary. We aren't allowed to use heels for new tricks because we always start over a trick mat. Some dance moves and floorwork can be easier with heels. I found mini-platforms (Pleaser) that I dance in most of the time. I tend to roll ankles in the taller heels, but I like the look when performing. I found shoes also help with preventing foot cramps 🙂

    I do work out at home with the idea that the exercises complement pole on the days I can't go to open pole due to my schedule. I do circiut training, interval training, and sculting DVDs plus lots of ab and upper body work (my two weaknesses). I am not sure what to do streching wise without a pole. What would be a good goal besides splits?

    The math never adds up for fun stuff. LOL. My boyfriend can't understand why I desire to spend $36 on a pair of short to pole in when I get a job. He basically said I pay $10 for my shorts and there is a lot more material. My response should have been that you definitely don't look as cute as I would.

    I am debating looking at temp jobs so I am not competely broke while I study for boards and look for a job. Still trying not to be impulsive and buy a pole on my own 🙂
