@Runemist: Go on, kick them! Stupid chauvinists. I love women with short hair and men with long hair, or the other way round – I don't care, as long as it fits them! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I like what you said about watching amateur polers. I got a lot of good input from them, and I saw many things I wanted to try too – while when I watch professionals I usually can't concentrate on the transitions because everything's so amazing about them.

@ hazeldej, nothing's easier than getting warmed up! try 5 minutes of rope skipping, and you'll know what I mean. you also move the wrists with skipping, so I like to do it before getting on the pole.
concerning stretching: there are a lot of good books on the market, why don't you go to the bookstore and take a look at some of them! there's a book many people like. I don't know its English title but translated it would be "the anatomy of stretching", by Brad Walker. And then there's "superstretch" by Jacqueline Lysycia, which I like.

Felix Cane!! I love her style, so strong yet sensual and feminine. I know many guys who'd say, a woman with short her aint a real woman – then they see her and fall in love! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif (stupid guys, though, to say sthg like this ^^)
And Jenyne Butterfly – although in some of her vids on youtube she makes it a bit too much of a stipper show, which I don't like. I mean, I don't mind watching a good stripper show https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif but I don't like seeing it combined with pole on youtube by one of the world's best polers. This only underlines the prejudice of others towards poledancing.
And then, my teacher and studio owner! She brought pole dancing to Austria. She works so hard, and shows us everytime that you can achieve what you want if you work on it.

Yeah, thank you!!! But I wanted to make sure I get all the advice I can https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I guess, yes – it's exactly the same as Veena does in her video! One side of the hip is behind the pole, the shoulder of the same side ( right side in my case) is on the opposite side of the pole. The other side of the body (left side in my case) is free in the room, no pole-contact.

yessss! i wiped the pole and my hands, until the smell made me crave for some salad https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
but the pole is still slippery as a waterslide. it's a pretty new one, too, meaning not used too often until now

I wiped the pole (50mm chrome) down with vinegar (5% acidity), and it didn't help a thing. is it too little acid, or what do you think could be the cause?? did i wipe it in a wrong way? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
-
Phew, I'm not sure whether I can buy normal white vinegar here … I know I saw white balsamico and all kinds of more or less clear vinegar (cider vinegar ist quite popular) at the supermarket – do you think this will do??
-
Pavi, I think Jenovefa sounds very pretty, too. But you could shorten it and call yourself Jeno!

@Beautifulfreak: Meow Burger?? I actually quite like that name, but I agree that it probably wouldn't make a good stage name https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif But I think you could just dismiss the Burger (is there really a "Burger Road" in your town?!?) and keep the Meow, and combine it with something else. How about Lady Meow? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif
The book "The S Factor" by Sheila Kelley has a "bonus"section at the end, where you can find some suggestions to choose from, to find your stripper name – most of them seem to shout stripper! or porn!, but some combinations sound quite decent.
There are categories like: jewels (ruby), nature (dune), biblenames (jezebel), aournd the world (asia/dakota), booze (brandy, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif), animals (lynx), flowers, spices, things you like to eat or touch (peaches, velvet), or colours.
What could also work is the name of your (grand-grand)grandma – oldfashioned names sound very beautiful sometimes, there are not many people nowadays who are called like this, and they're classy.
Hope this helps, Runemist!

To me, it is interesting enough what names people come up with as their "Studio Veena"-name … I guess I could use Ginger as my pole-stage-name as well, but what about the Cake? 😀 (I called myself like this because … well, just because I love to eat it! And apparently I'm a redhead, too, lol)

I was told in a store that there is only one company that produces the platforms that are used for all the brands, be it pleaser or any other. it's only what comes upon it that differs (sandal straps, insole etc). don't know if this helps at all … just wanted to let you know that the lower part of the shoe is probably the same with all the shoes, whether nitelife or anything else. if the real problem is the part above it, then you might want to try pleaser. everyone I know wears them, and there certainly are online shops where you can buy some cut-rate.

i LOVE the idea of taking a name that combines of the names of characters you like! my would be … oh, should i really say that here? don't want anyone to steal it 😉
no, seriously, i have to think about that. hopefully i'll come up with a pretty name! a combination of the first pet and the first street i was living in (we call this find your porn-name, lol) would be the worst name ever. wutzel deaf-mute (streetname translated). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif can't really use that, haha.

thank you, lpower!!

sorry, but I don't get it … at the Hotel Newton it says on the USPDF page that it's 180 per night, uspdf discount, but on the hotel's page it says 150 (no discount) … could someone please explain that to me??

Yeah, I spent the morning it at the dentist's – now, that's special, isn't it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Enjoy the day, ladies, rocking the pole! (It doesn't make you fat like chocolate, and when it hurts you, you can forgive it easily – unlike a man https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif)

MemberFebruary 13, 2011 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Would you recommend the lessons on here!?I take classes every week, and still bought the gold-membership – nothing can be as good as training with other people, but if you can't, go for it! if you do go to classes – go for it! either way, veena's lessons are very very helpful.
I like to watch her explainations of the moves I've already learnt again, at home. Because of her lessons, I was able to correct some mistakes I was making, or found an other, sometimes easier way to get into or out of a move – and I love that I can learn moves here that my trainer hasn't taught me yet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
You should definitely try them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I would not like Poledancing to be in the Olympics. I agree with everyone of the above who doesn't! I think it would make things a lot more difficult for "normal people", it would become a sport for gymnasts only. Or do you know anybody who started taking classes at Rhythmic Gymnastics at the age of 45? Neither do I.
I like the fact that everybody, no matter what age or size, can participate in this wonderful sport called pole dancing! And it's dancing, after all, not only inverts and those very sporty things. All this would change so much if it became a part of the Olympic Games. Don't like. Not at all.
Sure, I might change the opinion of some prude and unknowing people towards "vertical gymnastics" or whatever they'd call it then – but would it change their attitude towards us, the everday normal girl wanting to work out and having fun? We'd still be looked at as sluts and strippers, not being 14 and/or extremely skinny, but working out at home, with the pole standing in our house. OMG, it's in the bedroom?? You pervert! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
And I completely agree with one of the ladies above who stated, that other forms of dance such as ballet don't need to be in the Olympic Games to be great and to be highly appreciated in the world. BTW, did you know that the WALTZ was actually considered to be objectionable for a very long time? Things take their time, for God's sake. Poledancing has come up as a sport only in the last 10 years or so – why hurry!

thank you!! i'll go and see if i can buy it in a sports shop around here, and will tell the girls what you said.

some girls from my class suffer from repeatingly coming tendonitis/tendovaginitis (i found both words in the dictionary, don't know which is more common). i'm afraid of getting it, too – do you think the powerball could help preventing it? or would you say it is more likely to make tendonitis come more quickly …?

I too know the Black Widow as a Reverse Attitude (SV name). To me, the move mentioned by Svarri is known as a Basket https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif
