I have the 45 mm TG Xpole and I've not had a problem with the adjuster cover.  There was one time it started to unscrew, but I just tightened it and I've never had it happen again.

We saw the neurologist today.  He believes that my granddaughter probably has some sort of seizure disorder.  They are going to do an EEG and an MRI to see if they can tell anything from that.  The EEG that they are doing will take an entire week.  She is hooked up to all the little electrodes and those are attached to a portable recorder.  Her entire head will be bandaged up.  Unfortunately, she starts school (kindergarten) on Monday.  I don't want her to miss a whole week of school but I also don't want her going to school like that – kids can be so cruel.  In order to do the MRI, they will have to put her under sedation.  They want to wait a little while before they do that.  I guess they want her brain to have some recovery time after the seizure before they sedate her.  I am waiting to hear when they are going to schedule these procedures.  I think they are going to do the EEG as soon as possible.

We are back home now.  Thanks for all the well wishes.  The doctors told me that she is pretty old to be having the febrile seizures.  They said that since she had it at this age, there is a good chance she will have seizures later in life.  They did say they want the pediatric neurologist to be the final judge on that though.  I am hoping for the best, but I'm trying to prepare for the worst.  Usually, for us, it is always the 'worst'.  Seriously, my friends tell me that my sold purpose for being on this earth is to make them feel better about their lives!

I am terrified of letting her go to sleep tonight.  I want to sleep in her room tonight but I know I can't sleep in there forever.  I might be overreacting, but when my son was 12 years old, one of his best friends died from a seizure so I'm quite paranoid about seizures.

At least we are going to be able to get into see the specialist soon.  We are quite lucky on that part.

Thanks again to everyone for the thoughts and prayers.  I really appreciate it.

sugartoe – I did have my pole up on a ceiling that was 'orange peel' too.  It was only up there for about 48 hours, but there were no marks at all on that either https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have a 'popcorn' ceiling and an XPole.  It did leave a small 'ring' on the ceiling.  I can't stand popcorn ceilings anyway so I took the popcorn off and now I have a flat ceiling.  My pole has not left any marks, dents, or anything on the flat ceiling.

I don't believe anyone has gotten Alethea's DVDs yet.  She was having some sort of production problems.  We are hoping they will be shipped early next week.  There are quite a few of us who ordered these so I'm sure you'll get a review just as soon as someone gets their DVD.  I haven't seen the BeSpun DVD so sorry I can't comment on that.

I would say if you really love sewing and designing and you think you'd enjoy it and it would be good for your career, then go for it!!!  Anything that is pole related, I'm definately interested (and I think most of the Veeners are too)!  By the way, I'm going to show my ignorance here, but where is Gatineau?

I have tried both and I think Super Blue Stuff is FARRRRR superior!  I tried an experiment a couple of different times after some hard sessions of poling, where I used Super Blue Stuff on one side and Icy Hot on the other.  The next day, my muscles felt so much better on the side I used Super Blue Stuff.  There was a HUGE difference in how sore one side of my body was verses the other.  Plus, I can't stand the smell of Icy Hot so that is two strikes against it.  That being said, it didn't do anything for the bruising – only sore muscles.  For the bruising, I use Arnicare and I SWEAR by that!  I bruise easily, I bruise BLACK, and I bruise BIG!  Arnicare helps these problems.  It also makes my bruises feel MUCH better.  As far as where to find Super Blue Stuff:  Do you have a King Soopers, City Market or Krogers?  They usually carry it and if they don't, just ask them and they will order it for you.  If you don't have these, I would ask your local supermarket if they could order it in – also ask in the pharmacy if they would order it for you.  (I think I MIGHT have seen it at Target also, but not positive.)  The Arnicare can usually be found at any speciality food stores, especially organic and natural food stores – Whole Foods, Vitamin Cottage – or online.  Hope this helps!

Hello and welcome!  My best suggestion is to get Veena's lessons.  I started here in early May and I have NO background what-so-ever (no dance, gymnastics or even exercise!).  I am also 45 years old.  I've taken lessons at a studio and I also have Veena's lessons.  99% of the things I have learned was from right here!  Veena's lessons start you out right.  She tells you how NOT to hurt yourself!  What is really nice is if it's 3 o'clock in the morning and you want instructions, Veena's lessons are right there!!! 🙂  I'm glad you found us!

Actually, I’m embarrassed by how I hurt my knee.   I was working on the Forward attitude and I just wasn’t getting the momentum I wanted, so I decided to try it with the extra push.  I did it a couple of times with no problems, and then I’m not sure what happened or how it happened, but I guess I got my body twisted or something and I pushed off really hard and then my knee just smashed into the pole!  Of all the moves that I could have hurt my knee on, I can’t believe it was the Forward Attitude!  Honestly, I’m sure my pole jumped in front of me!  It is the only logical explanation! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I SOOO can't do booty!  I have more than enough booty, but it just won't move!  I've been working almost every day for close to 2 months and … NOTHING!  Not even one pop, shake or shimmy!  I desperately want to do booty but I'm begining to think it just isn't going to happen.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Yeah, I did try the alcohol – several times in fact.  I didn't use any lotion for almost 24 hours before.  It was really weird.  I think I'll take it down today and do a really good cleaning and hope that will help.

I would blame my hubby because his greasy fingerprints are all over the place, but I know he would NEVER touch my pole so perhaps it was your boys!  After all, that's the only logical answer!   https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I would love to relate my story:  I have NUMEROUS health problems.  It has been almost impossible to excercise because I have so many limitations.  (I have had to walk with a cane for over 8 years.)  When I tried to excercise before, I would fall down or just not be able to do the moves.  (Try doing aerobics while holding onto a cane!  It doesn't work!)  THEN I started poling.  Since I can hold onto the pole, I don't need my cane for balance – I can actually do it!!!  I have strengthened my core further than I ever dreamed I would be able to do (and it isn't even that strong yet!).  Since my core is stronger, the constant pain I have in my back is diminished.   I have not been abe to pick up my 35 pound 5 year old granddaughter for over a year and now I pick her up like like she's a newborn.  As an added benefit, I have lost a little over 2 clothing sizes!

While my self esteem is still in the toilet, I have noticed it has gotten better.  I have battled depression for most of my life.  That has gotten better also.  I am not saying I'm 'cured' or anything like that, just that it is enough better that I've noticed a difference.  I KNOW it is not a coincidence that those things have gotten better.  I KNOW it is because of my pole (not to mention StudioVeena and the WONDERFUL people on here!)

My granddaughter has some problems too.  Her occupational therapist suggested she start climbing poles.  The pole strengthens her core, helps her get stronger in her arms and her fingers.  Her cutting skills as well as her handwriting skills have improved TREMENDIOUSLY!  Her therapist is amazed at how much better she's gotten in only a month.

When she is up, I don't do anything 'sexy' on the pole.  It is just a piece of excercise equipment.  (She has asked why the pole comes down whenever the family comes over though!)

I am so thankful I found poling.  It has truly changed my life for the better!   I feel blessed for having found this gift.

    Good luck on your essay.

I have many problems, but my two biggest ones are that I have had lupus for over 30 years (I am currently 45 years old).  And then, seven years ago, I was also diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis).  In theory, you can't have both because they are 'opposite' diseases, but I've got both!  To my knowledge, there is only one other person in the world to have both diseases and she lives in Germany.

There are some mornings that my fingers and hands are so swollen, I can't button, zip or tie my clothing or my shoes and my hubby has to help get me dressed.  I am in pain every day – it just varies as to how bad it is.  However, I have found that I am feeling much better since I started working out.  I  believe that strengthening my core has helped TREMENDOUSLY.  I actually find that doing the pole is easier on my body than any other exercise I've ever tried.  It doesn't 'jar' or 'jerk' my body, my joints aren't having a hard impact (unless I fall https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif) and there are 'rest periods' when you need them.  Even on days that I don't feel well at all, I still will try to do at least a little – floorwork, stretching, simple spins, etc.  and I almost always feel better afterwards.  I do stretch after everything I do.  I make sure my muscles are VERY warm before I try anything.

Due to my limitations, I am pretty sure I will never be able to do some of the more advanced moves, but I'm okay with that.  I have fun spinning around the pole and I'm just happy I am able to do something!

UPDATE:  Unfortunately, it isn't good – his numbers keep climbing.  Tomorrow (Monday) morning he will have a liver biopsy.  Hopefully it will tell us what is going on.  If nothing else, it should tell us how badly his liver is damaged (and how permanent the damage will be) from all this.

What is so maddening is they don't know how to treat him.  Since they don't know the cause, they are afraid to give him anything for fear it will make things worse.

They have looked at all his medicines.  He isn't taking anything that affects the liver.  However, they decided that just to be safe, they've taken him off his regular medicines.  He hasn't had any vaccines in years.  He hasn't been anywhere exotic or anything like that.  It is truly a mystery.

I want to tell everyone on here again, how much I appreciate everything you've done for me.  It means so much to me.  I am so new to StudioVeena and you don't know me and yet everyone has extended such warmth and compassion.  I do not have anyone to lean on and you guys really have no idea how much you are helping me through this.  Thank you!

Thank you so much for your support.  You'll never know how much it means to me.

We don't know much more other than this "numbers" on his bloodwork keep going up – which isn't good.  This morning they did an ultrasound, a CT scan, and and MRI.  His doctor should be coming by sometime this afternoon to discuss the results.  His nurse told us that things don't look real good but she wouldn't elaborate.

He's only 49 years old.  That is much too young to be going through something like this.

I'll let you know how things go when I know anything.  Thanks again for all your encouraging words.  It is very comforting.

I hear so many of the ladies say they need to slow down and I was just wondering if I should do the opposite!

Horsecrazy I love your idea.  I'm sure my hubby would be drooling all over himself if I just jumped up and down too!  It certainly would be easy on the chorography part!  I am sure hubby will be "well behaved".  He knows if he isn't good, he won't get anything ever again!  I suppose I could probably "tease" him forever if I wanted – of course, he would be DYING but he'll go with a smile on his face!!!   :o)
