I’m in the Phoenix area (own the Peoria studio actually). I haven’t found any pole groups in the valley either other than the regulars at my studio who frequently attend classes together or who come in to practice. I’d be willing to donate my studio for any west valley meet-ups if we can get some people together, and maybe we can find an east valley place too. I’m 6 months pregnant right now, so am not doing a whole lot on the pole right now, which is really disappointing, but would still love to meet up with others. With any luck there are more local polers on the boards and we can get something going.

Yes, there is a pole studio in Tucson that opened this year. http://www.tucsonpolefitness.com/
I had the pleasure of taking instructor training workshops with the owner, Jessica a while back and saw her when she was in Phoenix last week and it sounds like they have several different styles of pole fitness classes available. -
I’m not sure about PCP, but Pole Position will travel to your location if you can get together a small group. I originally traveled to CA for the initial training, but several studios here in Phoenix/Tucson pulled together our instructors and brought Sharon out for another training, review course, and our practical exams. If you can find other people in your area who want to get certified that’s a great option.

There are tons of different programs out there, with no standards or consistency between programs. It’s best to take a look at the various programs, ask lots of questions about their teaching methods, what is required, the cost and if they are recognized by any of the major fitness organizations. Then you can decide what you feel is the best fit for you.
I personally chose Pole Position Fitness because it was reasonably priced and was recognized by AFAA and ACE and has a great focus on injury prevention. Plus, you have to pass a practical exam for the certification so you get feedback on your results. Even after teaching for a while I was able to take a lot from her certification program to add to my class techniques.
There are many options available though, so hopefully others can add their experiences with various programs to help you decide.

Glad to see the ideas from other prego pole dancers. I’m only 11 weeks along now but plan on just playing by ear on when I need to stop doing different moves as my body changes. I’m hoping to keep teaching as long as I can because I will really miss it when I have to stop!

I have used Platinum Stages platforms before and was more than happy to sell all the stages once the X-stages came in and I’m not sure I trust the safety of the new free-standing poles Platinum is offering given the track records of poles falling, tipping, and getting stuck, but I am always skeptical of their products because of the many problems I’ve had with them.
There is a Conan O’Brien clip with Sheila Kelley where she appears to be using the free standing pole. The pole flexes like crazy and at several points slides all over the place. If you know what you’re doing and can control tricks I’m sure the sliding wouldn’t be as much of an issue but if you used the poles for classes or anyone not as familiar with pole dancing I just see liability all over it.

I had rented her dvd from Netflix a long time ago and was not impressed. My husband even commented on the lack of grace. The instruction unfortunately really lacks understanding of how to safely control moves too, so I decided not to spend the money on actually buying her dvd or app.

I’ve contacted her before and it’s usually weeks just to get a vague response and then never any follow ups. You may want to contact your credit card company to dispute the charge while you are still able to and re-order once it is confirmed available.
