Hey! I pole at Ecole de Pole which has studios at Camden and London Bridge, and I also go to Polevocative in Croydon 🙂

Doing it as quickly (but safely!!) as you can is key…holding it slowly is awful but once ur in the layback it’s not bad at all 🙂

I can relate to that…Ive been training pretty intensely since new year, then I tried on a strapless summer top the other day and my shoulders just made me look like an upside down triangle!

vickiezoo – I'm pretty new in London and wasn't sure which class to take so I'm on Adv 1 on Tuesdays at London Bridge at the moment. but so far I've covered everything we're doing before, so I'm gonna see how the next couple of classes go and hopefully move onto Advanced 2 in Feb https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

D Luxx thankyou so much for the suggestions…I'm going to try them in my next stretching session. You are also a genius…I was reading through your reply again and realised why my hip flexors are suddenly such a problem; I've been using a foam roller on its end (not its purpose I know, but pretty handy!) to keep my body upright in my splits which is something I've never done before…I usually just let my body fold forwards. I didn't even think that this would put more strain on those muscles!!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm currently toying with the idea of entering a competition after the summer when I get back to the UK but it's video submission and I'm trying to find the time/place to get some extra training in – I'm so out of practice!

I have to second what JelliCrew said about the strength wraps…I bought them after reading Aerial Amy's blog (and suffering with ongoing wrist pain during poling for over 2 years) and they've been a lifesaver!

Quite a few are listed on the Pole Dance Community website, or mostly through Facebook groups (but this obv means having a lot of pole based fb links). I end up always finding out about them too late! I entered Pole Divas in Newcastle in 2010 but would LOVE to compete again in a few months too 🙂

@Porshka everything you put in your first post relates to me exactly! Def up for a challenge, though I might have to make smaller goals than 100days (I'm far too impatient!) the big thing for me is splits progress but I'll be thinking up some more specific goals ready for tomorrow…

I could never get this until a new instructor told me to REALLY engage my abs when I did it (it's a huge core strength thing which I never picked up on before)…it also helps to tuck your knees into your chest and then extend them out so you get a full straddle 🙂

Last week I got Apprentice into Butterfly for the first time which I love but have never quite managed before…and the secret I was missing seems to be the same – sliding the bottom hand right down, and letting your upper body drop with it to really push ur hips upwards 🙂

I’m so excited…finally secured the deposit on a place to live too so it’s all working out 🙂 i would LOVE to do the workshop too…I’m so behind on where I feel like I should be with pole and really just want to smash it over the next few months now I can concentrate on myself!

I’ll definitely be tryin out Pole Pressure then…I may not be living in Rockville after all (we’re having an accommodation nightmare!) but hoping to be on the metro line wherever I am. I’m keen on anywhere that sounds like a good pole community cos no doubt once I get back into it I’ll be there all the time! Especially with not being able to have a pole at home there 🙁

Thanks so much for the suggestions…I’ll have a look at them all online. I won’t know anyone over there other than a colleague I’m moving over with so really keen to keep busy with pole!
