Oh, also, bring a small towel for you to use to wipe down your pole (or use one from your hotel room). Last year they had towels, but they were community towels that were probably not changed out all weekend!

I just signed up for the Phoenix workshop on Sunday! Glad you mentioned it, the workshop sounds awesome! I’ve also been wanting to check out the Kirkland studio, I hear it’s beautiful!
-
Wow, 7 workshops?! I think I will be signing up for 5. I’m still trying to decide which ones though and coordinate with my friends. Ooh! I wonder if there are any spots left in the Phoenix workshops! I’m free this Sunday, so I might look into it. I took a workshop from Marlo last year and loved it, so I’m really looking forward to the ones in September!

I will be there! Still trying to figure out what workshops I want to take. I’ve got it narrowed down to five, but not sure if that’s too many! Last year when I went, vendors, including Bad Kitty, were doing discounts on their merchandise. Some would discount more if you paid in cash (like Onzie).

Yay Stiletto Jeau! I’m taking a 7am Delta flight to Las Vegas on Thursday, September 4th. Do you go to Divine Movement? I signed up for some of Marlo’s workshops in September. I’m also signed up for a couple workshops with Heidi Coker at Pole Fitness Seattle in May.
-
Awesome! Well let me know if you do go and we can meet up!

Pole Expo is in Las Vegas at the Palms September 4-7.

I’ve been able to shoulder mount for quite some time now, but when I moved, my new pole instructor suggested something: Place your hands high up on the pole so if you were to “pull the pole over your shoulder,” your hands would end up in line with your lower abs. It really helped me to get better leverage and to be able to lift into the shoulder mount!

Check out videos by Mina and Nadia. Their doubles moves are so good!

Thanks for sharing! I love geeking out over pole star videos!

I would love to be more fluid during dance and combos! I am always over-analyzing everything and it is very apparent when I watch videos of myself. Other than that, I really want to get the Phoenix, get my Jade super-flat, and be able to touch my toes to my head (back flexibility). Yay for awesomeness in 2014!

This is also kind of a commute for you, but I go to Envy-Fit in Bremerton. Adrienne is a great instructor and is super knowledgable about moves, spins, variations, and safety. The studio is huge with about 15 foot 45mm X-Poles! It’s just a couple blocks from the ferry terminal too!

I think they were exactly right by saying that BMX and mountain biking use the same apparatus, but are completely different. If they want to call what they are doing “Pole Sport,” that’s fine because it is completely different from “Pole Dancing.” I don’t like that they are trying to change what pole dancing is. Yes it’s sexy and provocative and stemmed from strip clubs, but it also showcases a person’s agility, stamina and grace. If they want to wear unitards and do an “F10,” so be it. I’ll be over here showing off my clavicular notch while gluteal dancing in my sexy outfit!

That’s true, but keep in mind that the fabric is stretchy. Good luck!

I found that their size chart was accurate in helping me find my size in the Mikaela shorts.

@koidragon-I love that website!! I guess I’m technically “blerching” right now since I’m messing around on this forum when I should be working! Whoops!

If you haven’t yet, read Born to Run. Super motivational. Also, for shoes, I highly recommend Mizuno minimalist shoes. It’s good to condition your feet to running almost barefoot. It works more foot and leg muscles for sure!

Me!!! I’m so excited, it’s all I can talk about! Bummed that Zoraya’s intermediate/advanced workshop is sold out though! Oh well, so many others to take! Eeeek!!

Oh ya, yoga mat, flip flops, and swim suit!

Go to the FAQ on PoleExpo.com. I would say to just bring what you would take to class. I’m thinking I am going to bring my own towel to wipe down my pole just in case (that’s just a lot of girls sharing one towel per pole and im kind of a germaphob, haha)! I am also going to bring several different pairs of shorts, leg warmers, sports bras, a notebook and pen to take notes, money for merch, leggings, uggs, light sweaters, water bottle, snacks for between workshops, and skanky dresses and shoes for nighttime, haha!

My friends and I booked a room at the Palms. They are actually doing discounted rates for pole expo ($89 Thursday, $129 Friday, $129 Saturday, and $89 Sunday). Plus, breakfast is included in the expo pass and you won’t have to spend money on cabs to and from the hotel. And you’ll be where all the pole action is at!

@corbyOconner, ya, I think I’m just being a baby about it, haha! I guess it would be about a 30 minute drive from Poulsbo.
