Not sure yet, Corby. We will be on motorcycles, so we try to get on the most fun, bendy roads possible!! Thanks, Squeak!

We have free days in Portland the 15th-17th. We'll actually be in Salem the 18th-21st for the BMW rally and then headed to Crater Lake the 22nd-23rd. We'll still be there a few days after that, but we're winging it! Keep 'em coming!!!

Katana, I will definitely check out Voodoo Donuts. Thank you!
Corby! Thank you so much!! You are hitting a few of my passions; gardening and books, as well as my hubby's; BEER! I saw something about Kennedy School, but didn't read up on it yet. It sounds like somewhere we will have to check out! How nice to have the links here as well! You are a doll!

The only one I can give you a tip on is the Cupid. I watched Ariel Amy's tutorial, and then got some great advise from my instructor. The hardest part is getting the hips far enough forward. I got into it from Gemini. Then I reached up with top hand and started to push away with the bottom hand just like a Star. Now, here's the tricky part, and it's a little awkward looking at first. Before you place your bottom foot on the pole, bend the knee like a little froggy and place it high up, closer to your bent knee. Make sure your top, hooked leg is in the shape of the number "7", then push away with the bottom foot, letting it slide down until it feels secure. Feel free to hang onto your ankle of the hooked knee before letting go. Here is a link to my very first one showing what I mean. (at :17) It isn't very pretty, but it gives you the right feel. Mine is much prettier now!

Hmmm. Not sure if this helps, but it seems like you have a hesitation on your way up where your booty is pretty far away from the pole for a while, which slows you way down. Maybe try to tuck a little more? Good luck! It is really pretty!

Hi Betsy. Eat a banana before you pole!!! The potassium is great for reducing muscle cramping. Water is definitely essential as well!!

I just got the closest I've ever gotten in my Cupid at class the other night. I also prefer getting into it from a Gemini and then reach up. My instructor had me go into a kind of frog leg position to help get my body away from the pole enough to push out my hips. She also told me to make sure my hooked leg formed the number "7". It's not pretty, but it gave me the the chance to see how it feels. Here is a link to my vid. I let go too soon, but at least I was able to get my hips forward enough to start working on perfecting it!

I am so sorry for the loss of your Aunt. Obviously, there was something seriously wrong that perhaps they could have diagnosed sooner. My Mom died suddenly at age 64. They really didn't know specifically how she died, just that it was probably heart related (we chose not to have an autopsy). It can be such a surreal experience and it seems like you vacillate between all the stages of grief for a while. She sounds like she was a very special lady, and she will always be in your heart! Hugs…

Turning 49 this year and just started poling a little over a year ago. Like Paunobs, I have the menopause thing going on and other assorted ailments. I ignore them as best as I can, while still being respectful of my limitations. Welcome to the wonderful world of poling and Studio Veena!

I absolutely loved your vid! You said you were uncomfortable in front of a camera, but I think you are a natural!! You and Missy make a great team, and I hope you make it!! I love, love your cupcakes and the whole world should know about them and you!! xoxoxoxo

I just got back from 5 days away. The first thing I did was take a shower, followed by a carousel, a Gemini, and a Butterfly….NAKED!! Wooooooo!!!!

That's awesome! My niece really enjoyed the program.

Asking because I'll be out there this week. I'm staying in Stafford, bu I'm going to the Senior Photography show at VCU where my niece is graduating. It is on Friday. Hmmm. Have to see how the schedule goes. Up for a pole jam if it works out?
-
Where is Midlothian? Anywhere near Stafford?

This happened to my X-Pole as well and they sent me a new B pole. All I paid for was the shipping. I would call again.

Wow. You're really lucky it didn't fall! Lil' Mynx customer support (and Lizz) are terrific. I agree with PA. Your handyman should fix the ceiling!

Picking a pole is a personal choice and there are a few options. I'm going to give you a few links that you can read up on to make the decision for yourself.
This first one gives info on the type of finishes and off to the right side of the page is additional info on Pole diameters and brands.

The next one is a review I just posted on the StudioVeena by Lil' Mynx pole that is available. (on the right side of the page you are on now)

I think the StudioVeena by Lil' Mynx pole might be a good choice for a beginner, especially because it has a great price point. Your profile does not state where you live, but this pole is currently available for US and Canadian shipping only.
I agree with Lyme. The lessons here are very inexpensive and incredibly detailed.
You would not necessarily have to purchase anything else right off, but be warned! You may have a deep desire to buy platform shoes!
