I'm traveling a lot this month, but I will HAVE to try to squeeze this in. I was in Jr High at the height of the disco era….We even learned the Hustle in gym class.

I agree with paintilady. That was one of the first combos I did on spin mode. After Butterfly, I went into Flatline Scorpio, then dropped down into regular Scorpio then to the ground because you will probably be super close to it already. If this combo is too much on spin, you could always climb, then aerial invert into Gemini/Scorpio switches. Always impressive looking.

Pretty much Chemmie. In the long one you have your whole calf and ankle on the pole so it helps takes some of the pressure off the inner thigh. With short, your knee is bent more so the thigh and ankle are on it putting more pressure on the thigh.

I have to say that the Scorpio is one of my least favorite tricks for this very reason. I'm the same way. The long one is fine, but that short one!! Yikes! The Flatline Scorpio is even worse. I am curious to see if anyone has tips for this, because I haven't found one yet. I usually just grin and bear it…. Yay on your Side V to Superman!!

Ink, new XPoles have a film on them for shipping purposes. You want to get this off first. Watch Veena's tutorial on steaming the pole. Also, new ones have to be broken in. Don't worry! It just needs a little patience at first!! In the meantime, you can try taking some dry hands, put a small puddle in your hands, and then rub it on the pole. It might be a little messy at first, but it might help. Do not give up!!!! I plan on buying a TG at the end of March!!

Welcome, Joy. Do you have Veena's lessons? In the Foam Roller section you will find some good stuff for rolling your hips/glutes. It's just like getting a massage. Ice is good at the start, but then switch to heat. If it isn't too painful, try some light stretching.

I love DGP period…

Can't say this has happened to me, yet! I am a pole queef virgin!

I refer to them as "Pole Pecs"!!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Did you see my bridge pic on FB?? I'm a couple of years older than you are and I got it!! It can be done, girl. Although, I'm not ready to go into an actual backbend from standing yet. I'm going to start training by holding onto the pole with one hand for stability. After I get myself back to health, that is….

Well, Charley. We have more in common. All the moves you listed, I do on the same side as you. I am right handed.
What bothers me is that this leaves me with a left handed Superman (I get into it from side V) and that isn't working out very well! I have the thigh grip, but don't quite have the hand grip.
When I climb, my right foot is behind the pole, and when I side climb, I use my right leg first. Going to try Superman from there at some point!
I tried a Holly drop and about tore the skin off my thigh because I wound up in a non-dominant Scorpio!
I would love to be able to do a Gemini climb, but I don't have the ability to aerial invert on the other side yet.
I am still in the beginnings of inverting on my non-dominant side and only get as far as Gemini, and have to use my hands in Inverted Crucifix.
Most spins I can do on both sides.
Just more reasons to work on both sides! I think this is a crucial next step…

Hi Hazi! My feet also tend to sweat, so I usually use Clinical strength deodorant on them the night before I wear heels. I bought Dirty Girl Poletice for sweaty hands last summer, and I decided to try it on my feet before I put them in my Jimmy Choos'. It worked incredibly well! This is a product you put on, let dry, and then rinse off. I will be buying mass quantities of it this spring so I am ready for sandle season. Here is the website:

The Allegra. Injured myself and was off the pole for 6 weeks. I will one day kick its ass! Until then, it's the Split Grip Extended Butterfly. Like EV, I had it and then it went…

I have chronic wrist issues which makes poling a challenge. It is as important to stretch your forearms and wrists AFTER you pole, as it is to warm them up beforehand. Like Luvlee, I always wear wrist bands during practices. I also do strengthening exercises as often as I can. Sounds like you are still a beginner. It will take some time to strengthen them. If you have Veena’s lessons, check out the wrist and forearm exercises. Also, listen to her tutorials carefully, as she usually talks about wrist position. Good luck!

Not only is mine on carpet, but it is in a room above my garage. My garage is heated, but only to 40 degrees. As Chemmie says, temperature and pressure are huge factors. No matter what time of year it is.

I like the studios in Naperville (Tease) and Geneva (Tiger Lily). I am really far west and go to Rondi's. Very small classes here as it's just growing, which also means that the classes aren't super advanced yet.

This is a website with a list of studios in the Midwest. Maybe this will help?

Welcome back, Polecat! I'm glad to hear that you have recovered. What a journey you must have been on! It is a good sign that you have maintained some of your flexibility and strength, and I'm sure you will be back in the game in no time! Best of luck to you!

Chem, I would say Goddesses wear a crown of leaves, but other than that I picture gold. Lots of gold.
