Mom to a really adorable and intelligent 16 year old young man. Partner is my Soulmate and an amazing man who loves and supports me (and keeps me safe with a great crash mat!). He has three daughters, two of whom are grown (still at home but launching slowly) ...last one is a perky,athletic tween! My son's bestie friends (largely girls) think pole is cool when he describes it as "Mom's" athletic thing". It was good that they thought it was groovy as it sits in the middle of my living room. My mom was a teacher for 36 years before she retired. She suffers from Alzheimer's but is a caring soul who occasionally gets lost in faulty misplaced memories. I remember what a smart, capable woman she was and do mourn the loss of that spunky lady. Her energy for "no quitting allowed" and all the lives she changed as a teacher who would help the roughest, toughest kids get through school is a trait I hope I inherited from her. When she was 19, (fresh out of teacher's college in those days...) I remember a story where she said she chased all the truant kids back from a pool hall to get back to school. They listened to her. They knew she wasn't gonna take any crap but she truly cared about them. She was the reason they made it through high school and made something wonderful of their lives. I love my work in health care:in orthopaedics (OR assist- heavy work and I keep my fingers safe from saws and drills but it does get close.... ;) . Very physical job as virtually no other assists except me want to be in Ortho as it's heavy and equipment/instrument heavy. Great crossover field for not being afraid of house repairs with tools and manual labor. Helping folks with getting mobile and getting back to active life is a vocation with which I am head over heels (literally) every day!!!!! I have an ex who is a good guy but can't stand to be wrong. He and I are no longer married but interact based on our son....no regrets....I would have never had my adorable son if it weren't for that time in my life. My work nursing friends, attendants and colleagues are my family away from home for the past 16 years. I adore my work, my poling (x2 yrs this past May) and the soothing way my son plays the Cetic harp. Harp was his idea, not mine. I love it. I'm blessed to hear him play, to hear him sing with his choir performance group, and to watch him excel at yoga and swimming (and school in general) He's a Doll. I am blessed in so many ways. Thank you all for your support and caring. Veena, (and your sweetheart Webbie) are so treasured for so many of us who crave a supportive community that cares what we are thinking and experiencing. Thank you for being there for us. You are an incredible woman and role model. Friends are the Family you choose!!!
