You have to be careful with boots and shoes for that matter…some are real patent and some just look it. The ones that just look like patent will tear up real easy. I just had this happen to a new pair of heels that I bought. The first time I touched the pole with the side of the shoe, the top layer came off….grrrr
These are the ones that I have and they are real grippy….the only thing is you have to be careful of the lace hooks that go up the entire shin. They can scratch your pole up!

good luck finding a pair.

Ok…so I went to go buy a copy of The Idiots guide…for me and a friend….no place carries it anymore. Couldn’t find it on ebay….or any other website at that. It would be listed, but when you went to buy it, it would say that "this book is currently unavailable". So my question is….did you guys buy all of the copies??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif JK So seriously did they quit printing this book? I even called books-a-million to see if they could order a couple copies and they can’t! GRRR. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Welcome to the best pole website there is!!!

snaz75.com also has some great stuff. If you have the time to go through their clearance stuff…you can find some super cheap and cute stuff.

Practice practice practice! That is the best tip I can give. It’s definitly not as easy as it looks. I remember when I got my pole last year thinking that I would be able to do all this stuff and boy was I wrong. The more you try a move…the easier it will get. Good luck and PLEASE becareful with that pole!!! If in the future you are looking to become more advanced, save up some money and get a good pole (X-pole, PS). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Arnica cream…..STOCK UP!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif It is my best friend!
As far as sticking or the super painful friction….as with any moves that our body is not accustomed to, it can hurt pretty bad. I remember when I was learning the cross knee release and I would litterally look at my thighs thinking that I would see skin coming off because it hurt sooooo bad….now it’s not a problem! The same was true when I was learning how to slide down from an invert (as you were describing). The more you do it….eventually it dosen’t hurt at all.
Sometimes the only thing that would keep me going was people saying that it would eventually go away…and they were right! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Keep it up!

Once you get more comfortable and stronger in the position, the more you will move your legs and body away from the pole. you got to start somewhere! If I remember correctly, you used the elbow grip. I found that I did the same thing at first…my body was real close to the pole and initially one leg was close to, if not touching the pole until I learned where my center of balance was. You’ll get there! Keep up the good work!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Which ever leg you have on the pole…you should have that same hand closest to your leg. In my case, my left leg/ankle touches the pole and my Left (sub) arm is high on the pole near my legs and my right (dom) arm is closer to the ground. Put your strongest arm down towards the ground. Hope this helps! Practice practice practice!!

It sounds corny, but it is kinda hard to put into words how you feel about this sport…at least I know it is for me. There has been such a huge transformation on my mind/soul and body that I can’t even explain it. Glad to see you can share your feelings with everyone! Can’t wait to see your first vid! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I completely agree with Jenn….It is preference….not cheating!! I actually prefer spinning as I find it much more difficult to control moves. And it just looks totally HOT! However, I master the move first on static/stationary. For example…I just got my cartwheel mount https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif on static, and I won’t dare to try it on spinning for quite sometime. Each are difficult in their own right and I also think that they complement each other…which is why a lot of times you see both a spinning pole and a stationary pole at competitions/exhibitions. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
