Ohhhh….very cool!  I've got to try this!  It reminds me of gymnasts on the pommel horse. 🙂

You said to bring food and drinks – I assume this is for the "working lunch", right?  Will there be a refrigerator for us to use or will we also need to pack a cooler?

I think I'll get to make this course!  I need to figure it out real soon so I can get in on the discount.  I really would like to do it. 🙂

Advice….hmmmm….well, I knew that I could do a very controlled, slow sholder mount from the floor (standing or sitting) so I thought I'd try it from up high.  I side climbed, got into a Figurehead position and adjusted my hands as needed.  Then I let go with my ankles and flipped up into a Brass Monkey.  Feeling secure in the Figurehead was probably key – next to being able to shoulder mount without momentum.  Not sure how helpful all of that is but maybe it'll help! 🙂

Thanks!  I'll have to try flipping with the cup grip and I'll have to add in looking where I'm going.  When I attempt the flip I end up pushing myself diagonally away from the pole (so instead of going straight over my head and back onto the pole I'm going over my shoulder and landing to the left of the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif  I think watching where I'm going will probably help.

Thanks for the superman suggestion, Mizvix!  I haven't mastered the SM flip yet.  I've been trying it periodically, using the Veena grip, but I typically use a double cup grip.  Any tips for doing it?

    Thanks all!

Tarah, unfortunately it's not 10 years of continued experience!  I spent a couple of years poling nonstop and then spent the following 8 barely touching a pole.  Back in the spring I signed up for classes and, apparently, it's like riding a bike!  I hadn't forgotten a thing so at least I wasn't starting from scratch but I'm certainly not where I would have been if I'd spent those 8 years training. 🙂

I have one of each (plus the studio I train at has PS poles) and feel like they are relatively the same.  Of course there are days where a pole isn't as grippy as it was the day before, etc., but you'll find that with any pole I believe.

I recently bought a LM 50mm stainless steel rotator and I'm really liking it so far.  I use it on spinning mode most of the time and have never felt unsafe.  After getting the piece mounted to the ceiling, set up is super easy.  I can put it up, get it level, and take it back down all under 5 minutes.  I reserve the right to change my mind about the pole after using it longer but for now I'm really pleased with it. 😉
