I’ve always heard if you keep practicing, your grip will strengthen, and that gloves will hinder “real” grip strength. Everyone is different though. I know plenty of dancers who use gloves, so go ahead and try some out. There is also things like dry hands to make your hands more tacky.

My story is from the teenager PoV, haha. Though I was already 18, my mom hated my new “You can’t stop me” attitude (I was NEVER allowed out by myself so it was exhilerating for me hahah) and my best friend of 3 years on the Internet started hanging around in the real. I was engaged at the time too so my mom felt cautious. My bf was also loud, cursed a lot, had a punk rock, idgaf attitude and also smoked pot (though she didn’t know that at the time, I’m sure she suspected it.) She always said she liked him, though I could tell something about him turned her off to him. My whole family was/is this way still, and even some of my friends think he’s wacky and off.. Lol Though he seems really straightforward, loud, and just plain… Unorthodox..? He cares for me a lot, and has done more for me in protecting me and being there for me, in general than anyone in my life ever has! My fiancé and I ended up not working out, because.. Well.. When my bf came around IRL, I began changing.. And so did my fiancé. I began not caring what people thought, and standing up for myself.. Which made me fight with my fiancé who constantly tried to tell me I was straying from the path of God (because of my music.) I am now with my best friend, and have been for almost 3 years. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been! I’m not saying this is what will happen, but you never know the underlying happenings of people’s relationships. Sorry if it was long! I feel like a freak pretty much ranting my love life -.- Haha. I see you have had some positive outcomes with your daughter already, but I wish you the best of luck either way!:D

Is there any way for out of shape people to get into this? My boyfriend is interested but I don’t see any “Get Started” moves, it all looks pretty fancy.. Though it could be just to show off what you can do after. Anyone know what beginning level is like?

Oh, man.. This is difficult! Hmm, I really love my eyes, and my boobies, haha. When I am in dance clothes, with my belly and legs showing.. I can’t help but check myself out constantly, I feel like a straight hottie! My boyfriend says he loves my butt. I’ve always liked the shape of my face too. Omigosh, I might go on a self-love rampage if I don’t stop thinking about it!!

I have a short video to post when I finish editing it for no sound.. But for me, I feel the strongest force is in my left arm, when I pull it behind me.. It feels very similar to regular waist hooping in general, actually.

When I really try to think about that flow though and focus on it to keep doing it, I mess it up xP I can only do it when I’m not exactly focusing on it.. Gah. I’m just happy it is improving enough to where I feel like I can practice arm weaving a little bit:)

Right now, it’s nearly impossible with my 37″. My bigger 40whatsit” is muuucchh better to work with

Yup:) I’ve begun to appreciate my big hoop now that I’m learning shoulder hooping. Using my 37″ is crazy sometimes because it’s so much smaller! I love it though and can’t wait to get it all down

Wow! Thank you sooo much everyone for this great info:) I’ve actually been wanting to get back on the lessons here, especially with the added hoop lessons. Weird how $20 is so hard to come by…. Lol. I’ve gotten better with my shoulder hooping, but it feels so wonky like the whole putting the square piece into the round piece thing. I watched that video, Sparrow and seeing how you move your arms in that big hoop really helps, no one seems to use bigger ones a lot:/ I’m going to try everything you guys listed.. I may even post a video of my progress:) Thanks a lot again

I really don’t like bumping my own threads, but you guys are the only ones I know who to ask!:P

  • Wow, I really hope no one stooped to that level.. that's ridiculous!! I don't see why they had to say REAL.. which brings up how Veena's is completely bad. Why can't people just have a comparison video for just them, not to passive-aggresively bash on others:/

  • I dunno, the platform just looked.. Weird. One side looked raised more than the other, the lower side being where the leg was fully extended. Although, I agree.. Performance wasn’t affected, I just think if you’re going to do a Side by Side comparison, at least set everything up completely and whatnot, I feel like they’re trying to make XPole look a bit crappier because it’s “too hard to get the legs fully extended” I dunno, I am somewhat newbish at pole, but I never heard or seen anyone with problems extending the legs.. All videos I’ve seen, the platform looks completely flat and all legs are out the same length:/ I’m not really even trying to defend my favorite pole or anything, I guess I think it’s silly to say REAL comparison and not even set everything to the fullest lol

  • After watching the video, I feel like the girl was playing that that darn XPole the entire video… Yes, that is TRUE comparison! Wut? She didn’t even fully extend the legs which made it look extremely off balanced. This is not a good comparison video at all imho. I may love my XPole.. But I go by facts.. If PS somehow showed me why I should love them over XPole.. I may, but almost every time I see or hear about them.. Sounds like a lot of ignorance *shrug*

Sorry if I’m bringing too old of a thread back, but just wanted to update without making a whole new thread for it.. Just had my first hoop session with the hooper in my town. She’s really fun and I’m so happy I have a buddy to hoop with now:) We went to the park nearby my house, and while it was in the 30s.. It was still a cool experience, and I even got a couple of new tricks to work on! She is also interested in poling so maybe she will become a pole buddy as well;P Happy Polin, peoples!

Wow.. That drop really is amazing, made me cover my mouth in shock! I can’t imagine what it must have been like to see it for sure, or worse…. To even be her. It must be excruciating… She is in my prayers, and I hope she fully recovers. To bash on a human soul because of their occupation is just disgusting.
