Ok, well I found a studio in North London , It’s at the Basement Dance Studio, 10 mins from the tube (victoria Line) or 15 min bus to Kings Cross.
Here’s the detail:
4 Solid Poles
Sprung floor
Floor to ceiling mirrors
Natural lighting
Cd, Ipod, laptop and cassette facilities
Changing rooms
Air conditioning
£28 per hrThe website is here: http://www.jumpanddance.com/pole_dance_studio_hire.htm
I’ve had jazz and ballet lessons with the school so I know it exists. If anyone is interested let me kow, otherwise am happy to join Lilm in Kent if we can set a date? If we get 4 people for the place above then it’s only going to be £7 pp, so the more people we get the better, 4 poles would be good for 8 people.
If you can Message me, I was thinking September 11th?
Let me know if this works for you?

Hey,
I was as weak as a kitten when I first started, even now when I take a few weeks off it’s takes a while to get my strength back, One of the best methods I’ve found, other than practice is regular pilates classes, this really sorts your core strenght out, you’ll find muscles you never knew you had in both pole and pilates. Just don’t give up, it takes time and patience.

Ok, so i went to the link and expected a few pages…there were 16 pages of waffle!
I think the best comparison I ever saw was on the Vertical Dance site where they compared Pole dancing to gymnastics on the beam. I don’t have the energy to accept the rantings of the posters on the site but geez…you think people would be more open minded about this stuff.
In about 10 years when the launch it in schools up and down the country I wonder where all those comments will sit then? Whoops, I forgot they already did….it’s called a rope in the school gym! Muppets!

I love everyones videos. I’ve improved quite a lot over the last few weeks and would love to start entering these competitions but wondered are they only open to US girls, I’m in London and if they culminate in an actual competition where you have to be on location then I guess i’m out.

Hi All
Since I don’t really know of anywhere with space for a pole and lots of people, it would be a mini jam at mine. I have a pole and plenty of sofa space. I recently moved stuff around to give me more space in comparison to what my videos show.
If that’s ok you’re all welcome to converge at mine! If it’s a little small we can always find somewhere with more space for the next time?

Hi LilM,
I’m in zone 5, North Chingford, it’s a 5 minute cab ride from the central line and a 10 min walk from National rail.
About half an hour from Liverpool st to either of the above.
I don’t have 5 years experience like you but would be great for a few of us to get together as no one in London seems to do pole get togethers!

Do you know that round carry bag you get with it? for the base to fit into? Well, is that supposed to fit the dome too? Because the bag simply isn’t big enough to even try fit the dome in! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Hi Polefairy
Both the base and the dome definitely fit in the bag, try and turn the dome the other way round when youput them inside together.

MemberMay 1, 2010 at 8:14 pm in reply to: Outrage at Cambridge Union offering Pole Fitness ClassesOoohhhh…the guardian article made me really mad! But the comments underneath had me seething!
The girl who said. ‘Girls, don’t do it, you’re only embarrasing yourselves’?! Seriously…it’s away from prying eyes which people are complaining about because it means men can’t do it or see it. Fact is there’s clearly a want for the class or no one would have suggested it, on top of that it’s away from prying eyes so the girls don’t have to feel embarrassed as they’re learning! It’s a catch 22, what ever they do it’ll be wrong!
I have to laugh because it was my ex who bought me the pole, he’s a law graduate from Cambridge, he got high and mighty about a lot of things but he thought this was great, he appreciated that it was for exercise and made me feel better about myself, he also knew if I did dance for anyone it would only be for him.
Clearly not everyone at Cambridge is completely anal or up themselves but I really think that the writers of articles focussing on the negative, perceived aspects of pole dancing, should be invited to a class to see how hard it is…then they might understand why it’s away from prying eyes!
I do understand that articles like this serve a purpose, to inform and encourage debate…I wonder whether the writers actually believed the words they wrote? I wanted to write underneath the Guardian article but the comments section is now closed, am considering emailing the muppet that wrote it instead just to get his views and see if he can back up his claims of it being a ‘grim’ thing! Ok, rant over…
