The first session was really hard and I could tell me muscles were screaming at me but 3 days later at my second class, I could hold the poses and my hanstrings were noticably happier about being stretched.
No idea if it's reached Peterborough…Yoga is good in general for this but doing it in a hot room decreases the chance of your hurting yourself apparently and makes your muscles more pliable, my split is already looking better.
Hope this helps

Hi hun, sorry to hear about your breakup. I went through the same thing about a year ago, I didn't want to pole and just fell into a pit of dispair. I ended up giving up for a while, I didn't eat properly so had no energy.
I just needed someone to tell me to eat some junk….force the apetite back and go to a few practice sessions at my local school. It helped me no end. The main thing is, don't give up, just channel your energy and any anger into pole, you'll improve no end. It'll take time but surround yourself with friends and talk about it if you need to.
Pole is one thing that you can do for you, pick a move to aim for…even if it seems far fetched and once you've got it nailed (a few weeks/couple of months) you'll probably find you feel so much better than when you started
Good luck sweetie

Tuesday sounds great, also too lazy to stretch on my own. Just found a gym that includes pole as it’s nrmal classes…I have a pole at home but no motivation to use it currently…pole at the gym 3x per week and stretch on Tuesday would be purrrrfect!

Hey,
I had the same sliipy issues in the winter and have used the hair dryer to warm my pole up, equally in the summer when the chrome gets too hot i’ve been know to use an ice block to cool it down. Depends entirely on the weather, I do find it easier on chrome to grip if my body is wam esp for things like the teddy.
I find the stainless steel one to be equally good in all weathers and i’m considering getting one of those as well so i can try both and get used to both. Before I realised i needed to be really warm to use the chrome, tricks were unbareably difficult. The minute I went to a pole studio and used the SS poles the tricks i worked so hard with on the chrome were easy peasy so my technique on the chrome really made SS really easy. This can only be a good thing though!

So I took two videos yesterday during practice at my studio. I brought them home, threw them on our big screen, and made my hubby sit down and watch. "I had no idea that’s what you were doing. It’s more like gymnastics. That’s amazing!" He was really excited about me poling after seeing that. (He even said his favorite move was me climbing up and doing a pole sit. He said that he had no idea I had that much strength.) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif So yeah, I think showing him what’s been taking up my time really helped and now he seems to understand it better.
Hi Jackib,
I just read this and it’s so great how his attitude changed the minute he saw you dance…i’m sure in no time once he starts seeing your progress he’ll be pushing you out of the door for more classes…and who knows, with Christmas around the corner…maybe Santa will surprise you with a pole?!
Your hubby will only benefit from your newly found strength and confidence!

Hey,
I went on a similar mission a couple of weeks back when I realised this stuff was sooo much fun to dance to…my ultimate fav so far is ‘Red LIght Special’ by TLC it’s an old one but I love it.
I also found ‘Closer’ by nine inch nails, it’s rocky but can be used real slow! FInally and a song called ‘Those shoes’, can’t for the life of me remember the artist though!
Have fun

Mine does something similar, I downloaded the new Flash verison, to watch videos I have to refresh 3 or 4 times, when I do get it to the load the music then stops playing.

Hi Em
Yay! Count me in!
Think the Saturday is the 18th? Are you close to a station or is there parking available?
Polekitten

HI All
Read it a bit wrong…£28 per hour so definitely the more people the better!

Ok, well I found a studio in North London , It’s at the Basement Dance Studio, 10 mins from the tube (victoria Line) or 15 min bus to Kings Cross.
Here’s the detail:
4 Solid Poles
Sprung floor
Floor to ceiling mirrors
Natural lighting
Cd, Ipod, laptop and cassette facilities
Changing rooms
Air conditioning
£28 per hrThe website is here: http://www.jumpanddance.com/pole_dance_studio_hire.htm
I’ve had jazz and ballet lessons with the school so I know it exists. If anyone is interested let me kow, otherwise am happy to join Lilm in Kent if we can set a date? If we get 4 people for the place above then it’s only going to be £7 pp, so the more people we get the better, 4 poles would be good for 8 people.
If you can Message me, I was thinking September 11th?
Let me know if this works for you?

Hi All
I’m still up for this…has there been any progress on a date?

Hey,
I was as weak as a kitten when I first started, even now when I take a few weeks off it’s takes a while to get my strength back, One of the best methods I’ve found, other than practice is regular pilates classes, this really sorts your core strenght out, you’ll find muscles you never knew you had in both pole and pilates. Just don’t give up, it takes time and patience.

Ok, so i went to the link and expected a few pages…there were 16 pages of waffle!
I think the best comparison I ever saw was on the Vertical Dance site where they compared Pole dancing to gymnastics on the beam. I don’t have the energy to accept the rantings of the posters on the site but geez…you think people would be more open minded about this stuff.
In about 10 years when the launch it in schools up and down the country I wonder where all those comments will sit then? Whoops, I forgot they already did….it’s called a rope in the school gym! Muppets!

I love everyones videos. I’ve improved quite a lot over the last few weeks and would love to start entering these competitions but wondered are they only open to US girls, I’m in London and if they culminate in an actual competition where you have to be on location then I guess i’m out.

Hi All
Since I don’t really know of anywhere with space for a pole and lots of people, it would be a mini jam at mine. I have a pole and plenty of sofa space. I recently moved stuff around to give me more space in comparison to what my videos show.
If that’s ok you’re all welcome to converge at mine! If it’s a little small we can always find somewhere with more space for the next time?

Hi LilM,
I’m in zone 5, North Chingford, it’s a 5 minute cab ride from the central line and a 10 min walk from National rail.
About half an hour from Liverpool st to either of the above.
I don’t have 5 years experience like you but would be great for a few of us to get together as no one in London seems to do pole get togethers!

Hello
Welcome to SV!
I’m in East London…I’ve tried a few different ones and I have to second the pole dancing school, have done a few classes with them and Elena is amazing.
