Thank you Veena for that demo! I had no idea such a little question would be so complicated! Thank you all for all the videos you have made and tips. This has now taken #1 priority for me in training. lol

Well, I tried last night and still couldnt do it but it was closer! Now that I understand I will keep working on it and hopefully post a video soon. I will keep at the headstand variation as it makes me feel better to be able to deadlift my legs there! lol This has been very imformative- thanks all TONS! Cant wait till I can post that I have it!

Hopefully TODAY I will be able to go try out your tips! Going to watch your video now @emotioncatcher and then off to your blog @amy, @veena- I am so dumb! I have your lessons and havnet watched this one. My daughter has been in the hospital- which is 2 cities away from my home, I have 2 other kids and my hubby is out of towm so I have had 0 time to pole or anything this last week. Today is a new day!

I thought the shipment date was Sept 15th? If not, does anyone know when it is or have any updates? I havent ordered yet, waiting to do when they actually start coming
-
I got mine too finally! Has everyone already started a committment? If not, we should post a starting video and track our progress w video once per week and hold each other accountable.
I ran through them both once so far. I have never been able to the splits so if this works, I will be more than ecstatic!
I dream of being able to do pencil to bow and arrow and land in a split on the ground

Thanks for the tips! I will try them tomorrow and let you know how it goes.. 🙂

@organic angel, you are making me sad! I was 103 when got pregnant w my first baby (was 23) , now after 3 kids and 16 years I am 140. I work and work and never move from here! (im 38 now)
– ps my first 2 I had at home, homebirths- at 42 weeks (pure torture), my 3rd my blood pressure was high so had to be induced in the hospital. My doc said I was full term at 37 weeks and brought me in
My son was 9.4lbs at 42 weeks, my last daughter was 8.1 @ 37 weeks, she would have been a monster left in! lol
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. I am sure you will be back and strong as ever in no time!

My cousin is in a band called Crimson Glory- they are not really popular in the states, but are overseas. They just got back from tour inGermany etc…
A lot of the music is very spooky and dark,
this one is crimson glory- lost reflections- love it dark, sexy, mysterious, slow for dark sultry dances… the art work in the video is also dark spooky. It crescendos to coincide with some more powerful moves around 3:05.. even says something about Halloween, then it kinda dies down, could melt away, spooky laughter. You should listen!

MemberOctober 13, 2011 at 5:42 am in reply to: Blackout During Pole Class- What causes this?I agree, get checked out by your doctor! Have them check you for orthostatic hypotension. Sudden changes in your body position can cause a fall in your blood pressure causing you to balck out. It can be related to simply just not being hydrated enough. Make sure you stay very hydrated and change position slowly giving your body enough time to adjust before moving on. Get checked out thouroughly to be safe. Blacking out from the pole would not be good!

That sounds good, I need to try that. It never even ocured to me how you would do it with heels! I was so focused on my foot! 🙂
-
That was awesome! I absolutely loved it!

I know what you are talking about! Just had a workshop w Becca Butcher- had the same problem working on her cupid fall- wasnt a position problem was wet slippery feet! lol- She had me wash my foot off w alcohol and put dry hands on my foot! (she wasnt kidding) lol- Worked for a couple minutes

@Vaudeville- I feeel I have benefited form thse split DVDs in addiion to Veena's.
They are not exactly the same. The VB is a bit more intese and uses the blocks to achieve oversplits- the poses seem more challenging to hold for the entire minute to me. (if you are going a long w DVD or veena split lesson- I know she says you can pause and hold as long as you like- I just never do, simply follow the routine!) The other videos – inward an outward joints really focus on those areas you need flexible tofully open up- I just love them. I was also dying for a back routine. This one is intense but I feel has given me what I have been looking for.
It is challenging and I love the sequence and flow. THats just my opinion though, I love mixing it up a bit otherwise get bored and I think my muscles also get bored wit the same repetiotion. I ordered ALtheas splits as well and will rotate and incorporate all of them.

@emotioncatcher- Which DVD did you get and how are you liking it? I ended up ordering the entire set. I really like them. I find them to be challenging. Been doing in sequence for a week and a half now and see results already. I am foam rolling before and after. Some of the moves in backbend, I cannot do yet and I need variation for the scorpion cheast stand etc.. Need to google a baby version or a sequence of learning to get into the move. The rest I found I could do with putting on long scks and using the sock where I cant yet grab my foot in that position. I am really enjoying them! Thanks for the info. I alays need something to challnge me or I get bored quickly. Love these.

I just found this link on youtube of someone demonstarting her moves she teaches in her workshops from some of her recent performances. This is some of what she will teach you:

I have used it tin the pst too- ironic you just put up a thread. I just got it out last night and decied to restart diligently.

@pegasus- You are so lucky! She was soo sweet. She said she satrted 3-4 years ago just like us- went to a classs and got hooked! She does move like an angel. She is so lean, petite and strong!
@Michelel H- You will LOVE the workshops. I am sure she will show you some of these moves she did us as well. It looks so scary and advanced in her video- but she breaks down so easily. Not only is she gifted as a poler, but as a teacher as well. She was so encouraging and genuinley excoted for us.

This looks very interesting! Love the diet info too.

That was hysterical.. cant wait to see the episode!

I would LOVE too also, but I havnet gotten my DVD's yet either… boo 🙁

I dont know about pole studios per say.. but I own a business and I know our workers comp and liability ins carriers require us to keep certificates of insurance onfile for every subcontractor we use. If we dont, when they audit us, they can back charge us for the subs insurance. Being that you arent an employee, but a contractor, I would wonder if that would place you liable if anyone resulted in injury due to your instruction? What if you were to have a fall or be injured? Or someone was injured while you were spotting? Would the studio cover you? It seems odd that you wouldnt need to be insured unless you were covered under their policy. I would ask more questions and protect yourself! 🙂 Congrats on the new position!

Does anyone have the backbend DVD? I am interested in that one. I have been looking for a really good back routine and wonder if this one is worth it? I am kinda piecing together different back stretches and would love a routine to follow that would challenge me
-
Do you have a link to the valentino brothers? I googled it and couldnt ifnd it! Thanks-
I love Veena's lessons, but I also like to mix it up a bit too! Everyone has somethiong different to offer and appreciate.

I love this about pole these days.. you can be sexy, sporty, delicate- whatever suits your personality or mood. Everyone has a different style and that is what is wonderful about the pole. You dont have to be just sexy! Everyone can enjoy it no matter what their personality. I like to be sporty- more gymnastic like practicing w my kids and only get my sexy on by myself or for my hubby. 🙂 Sexy pole dancing is traditional but without- pole fitness w pole would never have come into my house and life! lol I love and appreciate all of it. The differences are what opened the possibility of poling for me.
