MemberDecember 10, 2011 at 5:29 am in reply to: vertical dance online instructor qualification@Empyrean- I didnt realize that you are w ETED- I see yu here all the time! We did correspond via email when I first inquiried. You were going out of town ( I think somewhere south of the border?) and said you would contact me the following week. I did try to email you back twice! I am so sorry it didnt work out and we couldnt connect for whatever reason.
I am not too worried about "certifiactes" or certs of completion, etc.. I am interested in learning all I can for my own personal knowledge. If it ever works out in the future taht I should teach, that would just be a plus for me.
I am really fascinated by ALL the aspects of pole dancing- including everything business related. It seems so many are willing to jump into a business because they love pole dancing (which is great) But w out any understanding or love for business ownership first!
I am just interested in anything to further grow!

I am so sorry to hear you are struggling! I do have some business experience w start up and selling. I know you need to present cash flow to a potential buyer. That is what they are interested in (traditionally)- Most investors who are purchasing businees are intersted in their ROI. The selling price is usually priced (varies enormously) avereage around 10 times the net profit. (This is for the buinees- not any real estate) (Real estate will obviously depend on market value currectly) You can make real estate more attractive for a buyer if there is a business in place which is netting a profit, tey are looking for cash flow. So, Also depends if you are looking at just the business or businees including real estate. If the business isnt making a profit, you have to consider the option of pricing only for the real estae value alone. It is really hard to sell something that isnt turning a profit- especially in todays market. Unless someone can afford to invest enough cash so that they can be earning a ROI, you will probably find it difficult. It is very hard to decide to let go- especially when you yourself have invested so much of yoruself- time, energy, sweat, tears, money.. Only you know your true situation. I see a lot of people digging a bigger and deeper hole to dig themselves out of by prolonging the inevitable. Remember it is just a business and you need ot protect yourself! You can always start over no matter how hard it does seem now. Try to seperate yourself from the business and look real hard at protecting yourself and yoruu family! No matter what- you are not yoru business and even though taht business may fail, you are not a failure. Do you own the real estate? Is there any possible way if so, before you move out, if you cannot pay the entire mortagage to stay put until it is foreclosed? Is there any way to save any $ from the cash flow so that you can allow yourself time to save and create and exit startegy? Lots of hugs and love sent your way- This can be so enormously painful!!

I am taking Angel's course right now. I love it! I am a registered nurse so I am familiar w anatomy. Her course is right on target.
I dont have any plans at this time to teach, but I am a business planner so the entire field interests me! I am also interested in taking other certifiction classes- just to see a different perspective as well.
I originally contacted ETED, but they never got back to me, then I found Discoveries.
I am curious to know of others experience w different certifications and recommendations. You can never learn too much! I know everyone recommends being ACE certified, but I am really only interested in pole (at this time) and Im not teaching currently so Im not worried about that just yet.

I was just curious. I want to buy a pole for my cousin, but I cant afford to get a new x pole so I was looking at used poles for her and I ran across that. I went ahead and bout a lilmynx rotator today from https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/4d853680-e000-41ed-8969-6c0b0ac37250 . I didnt
I didnt get the xtc becasue I wasnt sure of the quality having never heard of it. Everyone always posts so much about the different poles here, I thought maybe someone was familiar with it.
If they arent promoting it as a x pole- and it is just a generic pole, would it be so bad? Just curious. May be an option for someone who couldnt afford a well known brand of pole. If its not a "fake" X pole, would it be acceptable? I guess if they were originally posing as x pole- and its the same seller that would not be a good situation ethically.
When I searched the forums for XTC pole, this thread displayed which then made me weary of it!
I wasnt willing to risk anyway and Im looking forward to the arrival of the black rotator. I wanted a portable pole so we could pole together, so were getting an exta ceiling mount instead!
Her b day is the 22nd and her mom is in end stages of pancreatic cancer. Im hoping the arrival of this pole will serve her as an outlet for this stressful time.

We all want to advance as quickly as possible- but if you trust the rest period ad dont overdo it- you will see much quicker results. You can alternate muscle groups, or work on floor, stretching, etc.. which are all importanat w pole anyway, to give a muscle group a rest. If you train the same muscles everyday, you'll risk injury too. Best is to be aware of what muscles each move uses and not to work those consecutively. I know for me, when I learn a new move Im struggling w- if I give it a break after going through it for a few times, then rest a couple days, when I try again, I can usually get it! If I keep at it, I keep failing! Keep us updated on your progress!

Thanks, I was wondering becasue it looks just like my x pole- just at a farction of the cost. Wondering what the big difference is, if it is quality or just the name! I knew it didnt say "Xpole" – It looks exactly the same- thats what I was wondering about

I recently have been made of aware of the hyperextended joints. If you're not experiencing any trouble, I would consider yourself lucky! You probably already do have some strength which might be protecting you. From my understanding it can lead to "tennis elbow" and can cause some real long term problems and pain for some. My gymnastics teacher just made me aware yesterday that my daughter is hyperextending and was very concerned. He immediately made her correct the position and explained although it was easier, she needed to be aware of the elbow lock and always to soften to prevent injury. Im sure w everything it varies form person to person but better to be safe- especially if you are teaching. I dont think it would be wise to allow someone to do something that could potantially injure themselves. Of course what they do on their own is up to them, but I really appreciated our gym instructor being concerned and offering a solution to prevent an injury. He also explained that it gives people a false sensse of security and strength as the lock is not coming from the muscle. Luckily she os only 8 and he said if she corrects it now, she wont develop that habit and save her joints in the future

I tried ex butterfly last night for the first time- been doing butterfly for a while and never tried to extend! I was amazed to find that I could do it! found it easier to invert into gemini, then butterfly, then straighten my leg and as heathalynee said- really pushed my ankle into the pole for stability.
I invert on the left of my pole too. My right arm is lower not higher. May be where you are getting twisted. I invert into gemini then bring my right arm down over my head ,push up into top of caterpillar, then right leg comes off for butterfly. I know lots skip the gemini, but for me, I have always found that to be easier to push into from there. Someone showed me that tip when I was first learning butterfly and it worked!
I hope you get it and post a video! I'm really gonna work on posting videos. I got a new tablet and haven't figured it out! The gemini to butterfly is one of the only videos I ever posted on here before I got my tablet. lol

MemberDecember 3, 2011 at 5:11 am in reply to: How can I get tone without getting BIG??I struggle w this too! Its hard for me to loose fat- I run 5 miles a day and never seem to move. However, any strength training I do, I gain muscle quickly then I feel bulky. Unfortunately I have large breasts not small so that also contribute sto the look. I find when poling hard, I have to stretch the arm holes of my shirts due to the muscles there! Sympathize! I also am aware though that muscles burn more fat so if I ever want to cut through it- I need those muscles there to help burn. Sympathy!

@scubalina- I 100% agree w you! COnfidence is everything and you ooze it!

Yes Ember, I can see it now. Thank you- that is a great idea using the frame!

Nymph- I am soo sorry to hear about that as well. You definitely can relate. It is so hard to have a loved one so sick. It puts things into perspective a bit becuase I at least know that my kids will improve. My 8yo is still in the hospital. My 16yo had more panic attacks yesterday and had to come home from school. I gave her osme CD's to listen to last night from U cure. I had her start w the breathing one- she came back and gave them to me and said they were horribly creepy weird and scared her. I thought they were relaxing. I dont know what to do w her! I can also relate to your job situation. My husband is a contractor and that says enough for now! I hope your mom continus to improve. Its a scary road. and so sorry about your FIL. I hope he didnt suffer from the tumor too much. I used to work for neurosurgeons- that can be extremely scary. Is you daughter feeling better now? and you? I really feel for you- Im whining about 7 days in a row and youve been going through this for 7 weeks! Thank you so much for your reply becuase it really helps to know someone else is going through a similar situationand can relate, although I am so sorry to hear what you are struggling with.
On a lighter note, you are opening a studio? Good for you!!
@Tarah- thanks so much- She seemed to turn a corner yesterday and was able to get off the IV morphine. I came home from the hospital last night w my 16yo- she really needed me w her. I am gonna call now and see how the night went w my hubby.

MemberDecember 2, 2011 at 4:36 am in reply to: Conditioning or Strength Training for Aysha.I was too struggling w this, after I read Amy's tutorial I really got it! I was balancing my weight in the worng position which wasnt allowing my body to get away from the pole- after her tutorial it was so easy I felt stupid for doing it the wrong way for so long! It would have never worked w my body weight in the wrong position- which I was doing becuase I was scared to commit! Read it again and get a spotter and have them read her tips as you are doing it so you can make corrections. It worked for me!

I have never heard of an autologous blood transferr! SInce it is the lack of blood flow to the tendon that cause it to take so much time to heal, I bet that is the BEST treatment option available to speed things up. Good to know there is something out there like that to help

I didnt see the divine movement on Netflix either. I would love to see these too!

@pancake- I know she has some trailers for her new soulfully sexy dvd's on you tube. I have all of her DVD's, she talks about the concept but the DVD has the moves but are set up more excercise based. She does show you how to flow out of one move and into the next when they change position. What I am trying to learn is how to take the moves she uses for workout and put them into a dance, use her transitions but instead of workout for be dance, personally inspired. I am now working on just going over and over the movement to place it in my muscle memeory so I feel confident enough w the move to incorporate it in my dance. Ive kinda figured I need the move in my head kinda second nature- then I can let myself go in the music and just move w out thinking so much of what move I am doing, but letting them flow out of me. I sooo wish there was a studio clse to me cause I know they do this in the studio w music. Since you already are musically inspired I am sure once you learned her movement, you would take off! I think you could share your dance w no problem- its getting the feeling and finding your inner EC that takes some privacy to feel comfortable w yourself. There are lots of s girls on here- I can ususally spot who they are by their slow fluid dances! They just seem so much more sensual and confident.
@jenniferp- I WISH I could go to that retreat- so bad! It is quite pricy!! I drove to Miami once for a workshop she held there about 5 years ago. My first experience!
