Any "new" News about Pole Dance in the 2012 Olympics? I tell people about this only because I take a lot for pole dancing, and open a studio in a conservative area…I know a lot of women are insecure about even trying it. Times changes- life moves forward, Pole Dance should too. I haven’t heard anything lately though….

I’m soo glad you posted this! I got on the site to ask this same question. I own a studio and I teach pole 4-5 days a week. I also teach yoga, belly dance and chair/ lap. I am so sore lately. I am teaching mostly beginners, and I find my self repeating basic moves over and over for them like a video on rewind! I also do a lot of floor work and my hip glutes, everything is tight. I do a basic warm up, mostly spins, transitions, climbs and poses with them, and a long stretch at end.

I have concluded that teaching puts you in scenarios you typically wouldn’t do if you were practicing or performing on your own. When I practice more advanced moves I don’t get sore like I do from class.

My chiropractor recommend MAGNESIUM. 1-3 tablets at bedtime. I also get weekly massages, and try to soak a lot in the tub. Is it a matter of building more muscle? Or not overdoing same moves

I’m trying to find a way to teach and not burn myself out at the same time. Any formats working for other instructors?

Read the book "SKINNY BITCH"! It’s about what you put in your mouth. it’s not a "diet" it’s a healthy way of eating, and it’s changed my life and my body in 2 weeks. I feel great! But you have to be willing to be vegetarian and shop in the natural foods section/ stores.
Trust me! It’s so funny and easy to read too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif

I’m glad to hear you’re feelin better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I read your other post when you first put it up, and I’ve thought about it alot about it bcuz it’s really how I’ve been feelin lately too. I’ve been dancing for about 5 months now and I have rollercoaster trips with polin that go from serious amazement with myself to moments of disgust with my strength, grip, FLABBY INNER THIGHS!!!! So THANK YOU for puttin out there, it helped to read all the wonderful replies from all you other great dancers, and sisters of this site who do continually amaze and inspire me too!

I Thought I would have natural talent when it came to this, I love to perform, dance, I’ve taught yoga for who knows how many years, but this has been the most challenging thing I’ve personally done.
Here’s where the advice part comes in to me, you, everyone:
I have done other things in my life that I was naturally talented at, that came easy, and I did it for awhile, moved on to something else. At the same time there were others who were doing it around me who had to REALLY work at it. Well, I gave it up, and where are they? Owning their own salon/yoga studio now. Moral of the story: sometimes all the hard work pays off, and if you see yourself through something just to get to the other side you just might arrive! XOXOXOXO Nikka

I had to have an emergency surgery, and also was laid off for my job as a college instructor at the same time! I decided to use the recovery time to do some soul searching and realized that I had spent my life working so hard and taking care of everyone but me. I looked back and realized I gave up dancing, performing, all the things I enjoyed. I guess I realized life is too short to wait to do the things you love!
My friends always told me I should be an exotic dancer or performer, but I just dismissed it. I still dont know how I feel about dancing in a club. I think women should not be looked down upon for doing it.
So anyways, I got online and found this wonderful world of pole dancing! I saw TaraKatrina, Veena, and felix, on youtube, and I instantly knew THIS was what I WANTED TO DO!
So here I am, still self-teaching at home, but my goal at the beginning of next year is to be good enough to perform, and I want to travel, and dance and eventually own my own dance studio!
I have to stay inspired though bcuz this is a major change and it’s easy to want to fall back on something familiar(9-5 job!) But I wont settle for mediocrity in my life! So thanks for this site and everyone out there workin hard and following their passion too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Thanks for the replies! I paid $225 before s/h for the pole. Apparently from what the rep at xpole said this was a big problem in the US and UK. The fake pole are really dangerous because the safety features xpole puts into the poles are missing on these. These come from China of course and someone trying to make a buck! Let me know if you have one of these poles, maybe there’s something to be done??
