This was such a GREAT question. I was wondering about that too.
I thought it was just cause of being older with a little thinner skin! Thanks for the 'hope'!

Thanks Veena and all..
Squats. Yeah.. Hardee Har Har. Okay.. I knoooowww. I'm doing Partial squats and I hope at some point (once my thighs are out of 'shock') that my knee will have enough muscle support to actually get down there.
This is the ONE issue that really gets me down so I don't think about it and just see what progerss I CAN make and keep on HOPIN'! 🙂
If all else fails… I'll start a video series for the Knee Challenged; once I figure out what I'm gonna do.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I may have to make some weird allowances for a lot of moves with this broken down old knee – and it may take me YEARS.. but I'm not givin' up! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Absolutely correct. I was a massage therapist for several years and if you will exercise a little MORE (same muscle group that's sore) it will somewhat halt the lactic acid 'burn'.

I'm new here AND to pole fitness. It's great here.
WELCOME!

Listen sues… ;);)… I've only been on here for 3 weeks, and was a TOTAL out of shape NOODLE Everything. I already FEEL so much better. (Check my blogs and stuff for details) AND, I'm older than dirt. :):) YOU CAN DO IT.
Once you get started, you'll probably shape up faster than poor OLD never in shape me; BECAUSE you've been more in shape before.

I posted this elsewhere.. and can't find. The BEST place I found was the RE-STOREs of Habitat For Humanity. Most US towns of any size (40K Population) seem to have them. I found several for about $40 to $50 around 5 x5 give or take.
Also could look for other salvage construction for the Sliding closet Door mirrors.

Well.. my only experience with any 'lessons' was in jr. high school (back in the dark ages.. lol) It was 6 wks of Modern Dance. Loved it, and learned things I'll be using in pole.
God I wish this town was bigger so I could take SOMEthing..
*runs to local comunity college website*

Just thought I'd meantion this as a tip/idea.
I went to a local crafter's mall and found a couple of cute items to use for garters.
Little girl's headbands with feathers, ribbons, flowers, etc. There were also some booths with some pretty nice sheer blouses and sequined too.
Who'd a thought?

Glad you're over the 'hump'! 🙂

I may even get brave and post this to my Facebook – just a way to subtly inform my family of what I'm up to. They know I've started working out. They just don't know "HOW".. lol

If that still doesn't work, you could assume it's ALL solid wood behind it…. and/OR.. call out a construction worker or the nearest male neighbor. (seems men come with this ability when they're born! lol)

Okay.. I checked again.. It is my PROFILE where I cannot 'comment' back to those who have said something to me… and I DID on an earlier one. So?? *shurg*?? 🙂

MemberApril 4, 2011 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Helpful Tips for Permanent Healthy Eating? You guys are all so totally awesome!! I love all the ideas and suggetions.
Cooking ahead IS wonderful. Being newly 'single' (yay) was eye opening in the cooking department. My tendancy was to eat out, because I was used to cooking for a family at one time; but I just make it anyway and freeze what's too much and then don't have to cook later! There's always something 'ready'. Fortunately the BF eats with me pretty regularly. 😉
Anyway… I just LOVE this place! (SV)

Do EX cats count? I had FIVE Persian Exotics no wait.. one was a Cornish Rex – my feline soul mate – Leo. I've been missing him a lot lately but dont' have $$ for another. ($500- Eeeek)
All I know is: Arm and Hammer Multi-Cat scopable is the BEST. Just once a day litter box cleaning with Five. It was great. Never smelled. 🙂
I guess by the time I'm actually POLING, another kitty will come my way? :):) You guys are sure making me miss him. 🙁

MemberApril 4, 2011 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Helpful Tips for Permanent Healthy Eating?A little more about THE SCALE:
Not trying to argue with anyone's opinions, just sharing MY perspective, experience, and a New thing I learned Just This week.
Weighing yourself UPON rising, after eliminating (urine) not only gives you a firm TIME of day (habit) it also will give you a TRUE weight daily. As I said before, it is Easier to CONTROL if you KNOW what's going on with your body. I have done this for 3+ years. The scale is MY FRIEND, not my enemy! (By the time my clothes are too tight it's easier to Deny and .. it's too late! )
LAST WEEK was my first full strength training week. I gained about 3 lbs. over my '2- that I try and maintain. I was freaking out a bit.. BUT I decided to stay with it, keep weighing, exercising, and HOPING that it was the extra water gained to repair my heretofore UNUSED muscles. (Knowlege gained as massage therapist in days or yore. 🙂 SO…
THE last two mornings my weigh in recovered back down to my Usual Weight. Yay! I was right! (Thank goodness!!)
All that to say: I think it really IS important to have a 'ritual weigh in'. It has made all the difference in maintaining my previous weight loss of 55 lbs. (See pics of Fat me/Thin me on my profile! "Random" pics w/3 in one shot.) It REALLY DOES matter… at least to me.
I sincerely want to help anyone that wants to hear it. 🙂 THANKS FOR LISTENING.

MemberApril 3, 2011 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Helpful Tips for Permanent Healthy Eating? One more thing – the BEST thing I learned of ALL –
STEVIA … instead of sugar for obvious reasons, and even instead of artifical sweetners (they contain the same ingredient found in rat poison. – Excitotoxins – Yep. AS's also have been found to make you.. get ready.. HUNGRIER! Boo!)
Stevia is an HERB. It can't hurt you. 100 times (or is it 1000, I forget) sweeter than sugar. I've been using it for over 15 years!
You can even grow it yourself. DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT use the 'blends' they are commercially marketing! Pure 100% stevia with NOTHING added. (I am a purist and do not advocate any 'flavored' versions, either.) Your local health food store will have it. A large jar will last for MONTHS, even a year or so depnding on your usage.
I LOVE IT.
Here's a pretty good website with stevia info: http://www.stevia.com/Stevia_Article/Frequently_asked_questions_FAQ/2269

MemberApril 3, 2011 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Helpful Tips for Permanent Healthy Eating?Just remember to be somewhat moderate on your 'fun' days. After several rounds of hcg I learned a lot about maintaining weight. If you weigh yourself EVERY DAY (get up, toilet, weigh) Religiously.. and try to stay within a 2 lb. limit, you can usualy rectify it in a day or two (eat nothing til dinner.. big steak w/tomato) and it'll be gone the next.
Once that scale gets up to 4, 5, 6 lbs over.. ugh.. it takes FOREVER (a week or more) to shed it.
OH… moderation example: Triple chocolate banana split IS dinner, not desert. 🙂 Understand? :):) It's all about choices. ONE choice at a time and they add up.
Okay,. I'll shut up now. (maaaybe. LOL 🙂

Man… this reallly IS a challenge (for ME!) lol… My year is so old it pretty much sucks! :):) And then of course I'm realizing how little 'dance' I do. No poling yet, but at least I can get out there and do SOMEthing.
I guess that's the reason it's called a 'challenge'? Duh. lol
No promises regarding putting it on video tho – I may still want to 'hide'! :):)
