I think I am going to come to this – it sounds so fun! And a close friend who is battling ovarian cancer is probably going to join me – what a great way to support an important cause. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I have a little space heater nearby – it warms me up more than the pole, but in turn I can better warm the pole. If that makes sense. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

So sorry to hear about your issues! I hope you start to feel better soon. Acupuncture is FANTASTIC for pain and inflammation – I’ve seen one for years and she’s a lifesaver. Remember, there are lots of options out there before you have to start making decisions about surgery – so see what choices are available to you. Foot pain blows. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I am so proud of you, Roxy! Let me know if you need anything – I have been in your shoes and quitting smoking was the best gift I could give myself. You can do it – we need to get together and celebrate! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

This happens to me too and it’s so frustrating – and scorpio is one of the current offenders! Whenever I get a new move, it’s kind of a crapshoot for a while how consistently I’ll be able to do it, and then the more I practice and keep sprinkling it in it will eventually smooth out. But in the meantime it’s annoying! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif
I also have to recognize when to walk away from a move – I want to force it sometimes, and some days it just isn’t going to happen (cross ankle release, I’m looking at you). So I practice other stuff and come back to it another day when it will come back around! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thanks, Azzwoo – I knew a professional would have some insight for me. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

How fun! You all look so cute – well done. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Haha – mine is the reverse grab, too. I think because I was so excited to have it that I have to keep making sure I can do it. I haven’t made a video yet, but I am sure that it would be chock full of them!

Ha! I was going to start a similar topic when I saw yours – very timely! When I get a new move, it’s so finicky. My pole has to be in a certain state, my body has to be in a certain way that day – the stars have to perfectly align. And sometimes I just have to accept where I am that day, even when it’s FAR from perfect!
Example now being my superman! I got it for the first time last weekend, and have replicated it exactly 4 times total since. Yesterday when I tried it, my hip wouldn’t "flip". Today, my shoulders were too stiff. I wish I could do everything all the time, but that’s not the way it goes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif So in the meantime, I will work on other stuff so I don’t drive myself crazy. And then, when I least expect it, I’m sure my superman will come back to me.
Easy come, easy go….sigh! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Thank you for posting this! It makes a lot of sense and is really good to know. I am one of the girls she was talking about that has lots of range of motion, but hyperextended elbows. I have had to do a lot of work to not lock my elbows in moves (particularly anything with a split grip). I hate it because it takes more strength and I feel like my arm is bent even though it’s straight, but I know it’s what I need to do to protect my arms. I had to do a lot of work with my yoga therapist on releasing the tendons in my forearms and they still give me a lot of trouble.
Pole work takes a lot of arm flexibility and strength and it’s good to know your limits, but even better to understand them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I tried to find online reviews of the Hardcore Poles to get some information for you, but the things that come up when you google "hardcore pole" weren’t what I had in mind. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
I don’t know anything about them – hopefully someone here will be able to share their experience!

I was not having a lot of luck with the popstar name generator, but on the rap star one, my real name gave me "Dirty Angel". Now, THAT is a name. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I only hope that the autographs of the pole champions were not damaged! Glad you are okay, though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Oh no, Sissy – I hope you are okay! Try to get some rest so that you’ll feel better soon. I had to have Roxy come to my house and show me how to put it up and down, and I am still nervous about my installation skills. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif It can happen to anyone!

That’s incredible! What an awesome experience – enjoy and share more with us here!

I have struggled with this too and I know it sucks – I can’t stay off of the pole either! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Try to be patient and let your muscles have some recovery time – they will get stronger, but it doesn’t happen overnight!
My elbows and forearms still bug me sometimes – someone suggested I put a tennis ball on the counter, and then press my forearm into it and roll it back and forth, up and down along the tendons. It does feel really good – I do that before and after I practice. The other good advice that I’ve been given is to be careful about locking your elbows in a split grip – if your elbows are hyperextended, you really put lot of strain on them if they’re locked. I have to try to keep a tiny bend in it.
And lots of ice in the meantime! Hang in there – they’ll beef up before you know it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Ugh – The crotch-cam really bothered me – some people are just not willing to get past the cute-girls-in-little-clothing factor and see this as an incredibly athletic art form. I’m glad Tracee got such a good angle!

That’s what I like to hear! It sounds like you all had a blast – wish I could have made it and seen it all for myself!~ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

So cool! Can’t wait to see more videos from your weekend. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Edited because I have no typing skills today.

I just got word from Roxy Pink that Karol (Redke71) WON the USPDF East Coast and was granted pro status! Aha! I’m going to try this differently and try using more legs in my caterpillar. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Gemini was tough for me too – I had to really play around with my body positioning to find what worked. Try placing the pole so it runs between your waist and lowest rib, and arch your back as much as you can. I still have days where I can’t take both hands off – it’s definitely a process! I hope that helps.
I struggle with the caterpillar as well, but I know that working on that will give me the strength I need to solidify other inverts. For example, I can do the butterfly, but my lower arm doesn’t make me feel very stable. I know that if I strengthen my shoulders through practicing the caterpillar, that will help. Also, doing a strong caterpillar will get you into the position that you want to be in to go into an aysha – which is what I am trying to work on now. Good luck – that one kicks my butt, too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif

That would be awesome – thanks so much! I loved Sarah’s performance and would love to watch it again with sound.
