I tried NuvaRing a few years ago and was excited about it – several friends and family members use it and love it! Unfortunately for me, hormonally it wasn't a match. I didn't gain weight, but I did go off the deep end! I was either screaming at someone or bawling (neither are normal for me!) – and then it occurred to me that the NuvaRing might be why. Within a day of taking it out I was back to normal and ended up on the patch, which did not make me crazy. The only downside to the patch was finding a good place to put it where it didn't hang out of my pole dancing clothes. 🙂

Everyone is different, so it's worth a try! I love the idea of not having to worry about it for a few weeks or remember to take a pill.

THank you so much for all the replies…glad I am not crazy or the only one! I am going to take a little break and see. 🙂

I loved your Three Libras piece – that's one of my favorite songs too and you could really tell you were feeling it. You move beautifully – keep it up!

@ GatorGirl4Life – Thank you for clearing that up! I did not know the rules had changed – I am glad to hear they will be adding more competitions to accommodate everyone, with such an amazing list of pros. In any case, CONGRATS on Nationals – your video was beautiful!

I'm not sure what is going on either? Because Rebecca Starr is guaranteed a spot as this year's East Coast Champion, and she's not on there – so there are definitely people missing. They also said that there would be 8 amateurs and there are fewer than that….they sure are dragging out the suspense! Hurry hurry! 🙂

Nice videos! I like your style – you've got great energy! I thought your style matched the music really well and your hair tosses are to die for! Great job!

Runemist, no need to be ashamed – I loved me some Nenah Cherry back in the day! Nothing wrong with a little "Buffalo Stance"….heehee

My first album was the 45 of "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners – that would be comedy gold.

Hi Scandalicious – I am sorry to hear you are going through a rough spot! Being out of work is so scary. Reach out to everyone you know in your area and let them know that you are looking for work and ready to go – almost every job I have had came from someone I knew, who had a friend who knew someone….you know how it goes. The more eyes on the street for you the better. As far as unemployment goes – the unemployment payments themselves would not come directly from your parents' company. Companies are required in their taxes to pay unemployment insurance – which covers unemployment payments when their ex-employees file a claim. Claims can make your rate go up, but the change for one employee is very small. It's definitely worth checking out – I appreciate that you are looking out for your family's business, but look out for yourself, too. Companies pay that money to help out people just like you!

Good luck to you – keep your chin up!

Oooh….Cheerybomb, thank you for the yummy sweets recipe! Those sound doable for me – I am a decent cook but not the best baker and so it’s easy for me to just say, hell with it and drown myself in grocery store cupcakes.

And Chemgoddess – melted chocolate with ricotta? That sounds really good to me, and again, that sounds doable. When I did Southbeach I drowned myself in CoolWhip, which was easy but got kind of gross after a while. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif

I also have done well with managing my sweet tooth by eating lots of fruit – many times that will kill the sugar craving. But sometimes fruit just won’t cut it, so I’m excited to try these ideas.

I am another sweaty hander – Amyxshi is right on the money. Tite Grip a couple of hours before, and then I use Dry Hands during my practice. It gave me the confidence and also allowed me to stay in position long enough to actually play with things. It took me forever to get an aysha. I did a ton of elbow grip caterpillar climbing, which built strength. Then little by little, I started playing with pushing my rear out and taking my feet off. It will come eventually – just keep trying!

I love this diet and how I feel when I am on it – I did it for 6 months prior to our wedding and was really happy with the results! Unfortunately, my sweet tooth came back to bite me and I fell off the wagon…lol

My husband and I are getting back onto it for 2011 – I am mentally conditioning myself to think of it as a lifestyle instead of a diet. I think if I do that I will be able to stick to it better! The coolest thing about it was how after a couple of weeks, I felt like my metabolism "reset" and my appetite regulated itself. I felt so good…ah, gotta get there again! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Haha – oh yes, Roxy! And I wore my shoes (mules, because I knew I would probably never be able to invert) with my capri length yoga pants! You are a huge part of what kept me working hard and I am so grateful to have you as a pole cheerleader as well as a wonderful friend. I remember when you didn’t ever thing you would compete – and also when you got your first cartwheel mount! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

    I love this thread! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I remember when the hip hold hurt me so bad that I hung there and cried. My inner thigh looked like I’d been hit by buckshot. Now it’s just a necessary hold to do more fun things, like the jade!

I remember when I took my first classes and wore yoga pants and long sleeved t-shirts. I am still on the modest side but I have come a long way – I can go to a class and wear little shorts and a sports bra and it’s not a big deal.

I remember thinking I would never in a million years get the cartwheel. I remind myself of that now, as I feel like I will never get my knee hold. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I am still very shy with my poling efforts as most of my practicing has been alone, but this year I have started going to classes again and also playing with other pole girls in my area. It’s so much more fun that way – the more you put yourself out there, I think the easier it will get. I want to get over my fears of posting videos here, too – I can work on that one little by little this year.

November 28, 2010 at 7:54 pm in reply to: coping with anxiety?!? 🙁

So sorry that you are having a tough time, Glitter! I come from a big family of worriers as well and for several years I took medication to control my anxiety. Over time, I felt like they were becoming less effective – and even though they lessened the anxiety to a degree, they made me feel really strange and I didn’t like that either. I started seeing an acupuncturist and that is what made the biggest difference for me – after some time I was able to stop taking medicine completely. That is not right for everyone but I am grateful that it became an option for me. I do take herbs to help me stay panic free that my acupuncturist gives me, and besides poling I also do a lot of yoga. Talking to other people helped me a lot too – I hope that knowing other women understand makes you feel better too! Good luck – it CAN get better. I am so much more relaxed and able to live now than I ever was. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

And Veruca – THANK YOU. I needed to hear every word that you put out there tonight. I struggle a lot with just feeling self conscious and lacking confidence in myself sometimes and really needed your post. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

And Charley – your "freestyle" was gorgeous and I had no idea until you told me. I really enjoyed meeting you finally! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yay! I am so glad that we got to see this taken care of and that Mars did what was right. Maybe I will order some pole M&Ms of my own now! I am very relieved that I don’t have to give up the peanut ones. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
