I’ll pole for both of us as best I can in a 75 minute session 😉

Oh, and there is a day-long workshop before taking the exam, so I’m hoping that will help cement everything in my head.

Thanks for the tips! I do happen to be making flash cards like crazy! I’ll be sure to stay on top of muscle movements. I did purchase the practice exam as well, so I’ll likely be taking that next week when I finish the manual. There is so much to remember I can hardly believe it.
I was told that the exam will be 100 multiple choice questions. It seems that just in the book quizzes alone, however, that the answers need to be so precise. Especially the different heart rate questions. That’s what’s making me so nervous. I can’t fail this! I hate to be studying all the time but I’m definitely going to be stepping up my game for the next two weeks.

And Bonnie, I hope that after I start napping beforehand and shortening my workouts, I’ll be wired like you!

A nap beforehand!!! What a brilliant idea! That’s what I’ll be doing from now on!

Left behind is a good way too put it… when I’m discouraged it’s usually because I watch girls who are very advanced and are talking about inverting like it’s no big thing… and here’s me in my pole sit and planking it up, and freaking out because I SORT OF did a hand stand! I’m learning to be fiercely proud of myself for every accomplishment, because they are ALL big. Someday when I’m advanced I want to be sure to never forget where I came from. Which brings me right back to why I appreciate Studio Veena so much! All the encouragement from people who get it and aren’t judging is priceless.
Thank you Veena, for your authenticity.

I think I have trouble finding the line between pushing myself to do the best I can, and just plain pushing myself too much. I’ve heard you stress before to listen to one’s body, and I think it probably applies here. If I’m that wrecked afterward, I probably should try to back it off to an hour and a half and see how I feel then.
I do make sure to eat something carb/protein afterward. I’m also on myfitnesspal to keep me on track for good nutrition. I’ve noticed a difference in my strength during my workouts! It’s really nifty!
But yeah, I’m likely pushing way to hard for too long and my body is crying at me. I’m going to figure out my happy medium and where to draw the line with myself.

I have this deathly fear of being a wimp!

I really appreciate this Veena. It’s very reassuring to see someone who is generally very physically fit still be human. I definitely struggle with feelings of inadequacy too often. This is encouraging for me.

I am passionate about Physique. It is a muscle repair product by Shaklee that does amazing things. I drink it after workouts and also just when I have sore muscles the next day, it majorly helps. Shaklee is a nutrition company that has powered many Olympic medalists and been around for over 50 years. I’d be happy to share more if you’re interested!

First of all… cut yourself some slack. A lot of it! I’m serious. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself as you would if you were a friend of yourself comforting you. You’ve just been through a lot. It’s like a massive life changing punch in the stomach.
Take it easy. Love on yourself. Wrap yourself in your own arms and let yourself cry. Snuggle up with a blankey and watch some feel good movies. If you have a dog, cuddle the snot out of that pooch! If not, find someone else’s dog and cuddle theirs. Paint your nails. Go get a massage. Do whatever little things make you feel content and joyful.

A breakup is emotionally devastating. How tough! I hear you. I don’t want to bash on your ex, but yikes that would be massively hurtful to see him laughy-happy while you grieve. Ouch. I’d feel sick!
You’ll walk through this, and be better for it. Your fighting spirit will come back. It already is, through you posting this very message. If it wasnt there, and you had given up, you wouldn’t be reaching out. 🙂

Of course we could all state so many reasons… for me, I think it boils down to expression, but also because it is the most fun I think I’ve ever had.

Really?! So frustrating! Now I’m working on Basic Plank and my arms and shoulders are just not having it! My body is being stupid. Boo.

To be honest I thought it took away from the performance. Sure, shock factor can be interesting but, at the same time these women are class A pole artists and a girl on girl “shock” kiss just isn’t necessary.

My husband was actually unpleasantly shocked. I had turned away and was doing something for a second and heard “What?! They’re kissing!” I was like “Huh? Oh… okay that’s weird.” It turned him off, and I was kind of embarrassed.

Plus I think that anyone who may ignorantly label pole dance as sleaze, may not change their mind if that’s the first performance they witness :p

You’re getting a post from me also! I was home schooled 1st grade through graduation. As far as curriculum, it really is a matter of trial and error, and kids learning styles.
When I was looking into it for our kiddos, I was drawn to the classical method. It is extensive and focused on teaching the classics and a more cultured approach to schooling. You can find classical curriculums out there. The only one I personally know of is Christian based and they are memoriapress.com I believe.

  • That’s so awesome!

It seems to never fail, pole dance always helps my outlook. All I need is that perfect song, and to allow my emotions to pour out when I dance. Then all is right with the world.

Thanks, Robin! It’s good to know I’m not alone! Yes, I’m having my husband hide the darn thing. Yes, I have been working out very hard for sure! Why is it that something as piddly as a number on a scale can crush that for me? I need to not allow that. Maybe I’ll weigh myself in another three months out of curiosity.
