You know who is great to watch for floorwork ideas? If you check out our very own member, Dangerous’s videos. I just love her floorwork. Here is a demo vid of hers… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lll7x8IkCA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some of my pole favorites, past and present, are:
Jenyne Butterfly, *probably my most favorite performer*
Wendy Traskos, *favorite instructor*
Alethea Austin, *floor work!*
LeighAnn Orsi, *probably my earliest crush, who doesn’t love that sexy hair whip? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif*
Karol Helms, *most favorite dancer/instructor, and pole move inventor*
Anjel Dust, *c’mon.. she plays with fire AND pole dances!!*
StarrGrrrl, *love the way she twirls around the pole, and her musical taste*
Pantera, *love her super strong handbalancing*
Bad Azz, *Well he is not only sexy as hell but just as sweet in person!*
Bobbi, *love her choreography*
Veena, *Very flowy, flexy, and creative, and so helpful and kind to us all*
Felix,*Just love her spinning pole stuff and flexiblity*
Mina. *spinning pole fave* -
I recently performed for the first time and I have never been much of a choreo person so it was a little difficult at first to get a routine together. My best advice would be to put the song on repeat and just let the music move you… when you think you hit on something good, write it down! It also helps to write down a couple combos/sequences that you know you want to perform and fit them into the song where you think they would be best placed. As you practice more, you will be able to fill up the spaces inbetween with transitions as you get more and more comfortable. Also, it probably wouldn’t hurt to watch some actual circus performance videos… may you get some ideas for movement patterns that you can incorporate into your routine! Good luck with the event!! It sounds like it is going to be badasss! I hope to see it on video. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have owned all three: chrome, TG and brass. I find that the TG and brass are very comparable, but I still think the brass is a bit more grippy. On the other hand it can be too grippy at times, esp on hot summer days. But TG is def more grippy than chrome. The only problem with the TG tho, is that over time, the finish wears off the pole in high use areas and the silver color becomes exposed underneath. According to Xpole, this is does not affect the grippage, however, you do end up with a silver/gold discolored pole. Hope this helps!

I have taken workshops/classes with several instructors including Alethea Austin, Karol Helms, Amber Richards , Mina Morteziae (Miss USPDF Amateur), BadAzz, StarrGrrl, and Wendy Traskos (Owner "USPDF). I can honestly say, that I have taken a little bit of something from each of these fabulous instructors… Taking lessons with someone else is a great way to step out of your box and incorporate new and different ideas into your pole experience and enhance your skills. Whether it be new choreo, new tricks, easier/better ways of doing things you know or discovering abilities you have always had, but didn’t know about until they gave you that little push, there is always something to gain from taking classes or workshops with others. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thank you everyone for watching our performances! It was such a great night, I am so thankful that I got to be a part of it. Veena, you totally killed it up there! It was so nice to meet you in person too! Everyone did such a great job, it was truly an amazing night!

I wonder if you could use some clear nail polish or lacquer something like that? If everyone signs on the same wedge, you can just be careful about washing that piece.

Star let me know on fb that she will be unable to attend this time around, but she hopes that she will meet us all one day. I’m sad that she can’t make it up here, but I’m still so excited because we already have so many special guests coming!!! I can’t wait to meet you all, everybody’s gotta sign my X-Stage!!!!

What an awesome idea! I have a metallic sharpee that would look great on the black stage! -
Thanks ladies, both of those sound like fine ideas. Only problem is I gemini and butterfly best with my R leg hooked and I need to have my L knee hooked for my kneeswing/kneehold/marley. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Oh well, guess I ‘ll have to practice more on my weaker side if i want to do it another way! In the meantime, I’ll just have to side climb to get into it.
Pole Twista- I couldn’t find your video, what it is titled?

Yep, this happens to just about everyone. For me it depends on the day… Some days I can do everything and i have enough energy to go for hours, other days I can barely stick to the pole and am exhausted after doing a simple trick. I find that those are the days its best to rest and take a break from the pole and exercise my body/mind in a different way. Usually, I feel better and do better next time i try.

Wow Serzi, she is really good!I esp loved the bloopers reel of her and Karol doing dbls. I would love to see her perform live!

I think this is who she is talking about?

Unless she is talking about Mel, whose YT name is mmmelonade. She is a member here as well. They did a dbls act for the showcase. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePv7XFty_QE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;I am getting so excited about this! Can’t wait to see all of you lovely ladies perform! I am hoping and praying I won’t completely go blank when its my turn to get on stage. This going to be such a fun night!!

Wearing shoes adds some weight so practicing some moves in them will help make you stronger, ie leg lifts, shoulder mounts chopper, etc.
-
I have a pair just like the 209s but with chrome heels and looooovvvvve them!! They are so comfy and feel very stable. As far as the boots go, I just want to warn you that the shafts of Pleaser boots can be very narrow, and I have seen many of my friends have trouble zipping them up. You may want to go with a model that has a lace up shaft in addition to the zipper so that you can tighten/loosen them to your size.
-
If you are **brand new** to heels, I would suggest getting something with a chunkier heel. It took me awhile to get used to wearing 6" heels around and I almost bit the floor a couple times https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif !! My first pair were knee high boots, which are great for training and trying new moves as they help you stick to the pole better, protect the skin and support the ankles. Just make sure you get the shiny patent ones, not the matte PU. The PU doesn’t stick to the pole.
I gotta be honest with you, it is impossible to own just one pair of shoes. Once you open that dam, be prepared to spend all your $$, because there is no going back! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

nymph, I would sooo love it you would perform. I already have people to video.
Chemmie…all but 2 of the girls on the roster are on this site – some not as active as others. How would we go about doing a live feed?
Charley, do they have wi-fi at the venue? If so, someone can bring their laptop and webcam and we can set it up in Veena Chat. We did that at the last pole jam and it worked out pretty well.

Here is another option for you all.. These people were at the DC pole -also, so I had a chance to see the mat in person. It is super thick (5") and very sturdy. I think I’ll be getting one of these once i save up enough $$. They are $249+shipping. Also, there is an optional carry case for $24.99.
