i have a stainless pole & have never gotten wrist burn either. my mom has a powder coated pole & she did get wrist burt at first. it may have been because she was not holding the pole correctly at first, or because of the powder coating isn’t so slick https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif less pole burn = more happy poling https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

There is another one but I cannot even do it. It helps to have someone hold your ankles when you do it but if you do not have someone you can lock your ankles under something that will hold your weight (a low bar or something). In a kneeling position what you want to do is lower your body to the ground keeping your core straight and then lift yourself back up. When your hams are really strong you can get all the way to the floor and then back up. Typically your hands will be behind your head but when starting out you may want them to keep you from crashing into the floor.
This will give you an idea of the move:

https://www.studioveena.comhttp:://www.elitetrack.com/images/blog/nordic-hamstring-curl.jpgYou will see a huge difference in a very short amount of time with this move. This will give curve to the back of your leg and also will give you that curve from the upper leg into your butt.

i can do one side more than the other, lol! i can go all the way down with my right leg out in front & only like 3/4 of the way dow with my left leg out front. my center split ( or whatever that one with both legs out) is really sad! lol! i get like 1/2 way down & tip over because i feel like my legs will pop off if i go any lower https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
& speaking of flexibility, i think i "over did" a back bend earlier https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif i was watching my video clips earlier & i was like "wow, my back is pretty bendy these days" && now i’m laying in bed with a sore back thinking i was wrong.. oops https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif -

SWISS CURL
https://www.studioveena.comhttp:://www.oxygenmag.com/content/oxy113/training_2_swiss.jpg
Target Muscles: hamstrings
Synergist Muscles: gastrocnemius, erector spinaeSet Up: Lie supine on the ground with your knees bent and your heels on the top of an exercise ball. Lift your hips up as high as you can (A).
Action: Roll the ball away from you until your legs are straight but your knees are not locked. Hold for a second (B) and then roll the ball back towards you by bending your knees. Repeat.
If you do not go to the gym at all these are great.
And don’t worry about "bulking up into hulk mode". Women naturally do not have enough testosterone to get huge. The women you see that are like that have cycled steroids or have taken testosterone.
i’m gonna try these too! they look fun!

i pretty much have translucent skin because i am so pale & i have darker hair so i totally have the dark hair follicles too! it used to bother me but it doesn’t anymore, i still have it & no matter what i do it’s gonna be that way so i just wear shorts anyway. i’ve never had anyone say anything to me about it or look at my legs funny so i’m guessing its not as noticeable to everyone else or people just don’t find it to be that odd. so yeah, i think it’s normal https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif don’t let it bother you, you are definitely not the only one with it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

i was thinking about ordering one of these
http://www.thepoledancingshop.com/categories/Pole-Dancing-Poles/Pole-Dancing-Mats/
one of them is 6 inches thick & the other is only 2 inches… i think the 6 inch one would really be best but it’s $335! thats a lot, well to me it is anyway! you can’t really put a price on safety so i’ll probably be saving up for one this it. have any of you ever used this brand of mat before? is it worth the $335? -
OMG that is so cool!

You can fine injury prevention exercises and stretches here! Right now I have a bunch up in the online lessons specifically for your forearms, the shoulders will be next. I wanted to have the shoulder ones posted already but I haven’t been feeling well lately. How ever…..I already have some full body strength work in the lessons every pole dancers should be doing, because having the proper strength and body positioning is super important. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
yeah… i’m thinking i should have been just a little smarter & taken some more precautions. i am not in "pain" at all & i have not been in pain with this, but i do feel that something isn’t "right" in my arm so i am laying off of it for a while & until i feel like i have had enough time to heal. veena, would you suggest that i wait a few weeks to start doing shoulder exercises too?
-
Veena, i will be watching out for your shoulder exercises

i was trying to do "The Cradle Spin" & i had also tried to do a reverse grab on the same day. like i said i’m not sure if it’s my RC or not but now i’m scared to do anything at all until it feels 100% better! i need to really look into ways to protect those muscles, tendons & parts that i can’t see. does anyone know of any sites that are for pole dance injury prevention? that is something we all really need. @Fleur aren’t you going to school for something like that? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif i think i read that somewhere && that is awesome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif now if you were only in the southeast https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
