Along the lines of what Rose said….pick up marbles or legos with your toes. Try taking steps and laying one toe down at a time in both directions (big toe first then pinkie toe). I struggle with foot cramps big time. I’m looking to get a wooden foot roller too. I want a wider foot for balancing on.

Thanks for sharing AK! I need all the help I can get with hips. Progress with flexibility is so slow for me. 😑 I just don’t enjoy working on flexibility that much. I’d rather be dancing ! 😀

Incredible. I’m going to share this with my husband. He had shoulder surgery many years ago and he took up fly fishing to rehab his shoulder then. He grew up skiing and snowboarding and really messed his shoulders up bad from all the falling and popping in and out of socket. He says he should really have surgery on the other shoulder too. I suspect it will start bothering him more as he gets older.

I’m really enjoying all the pole inspiration on IG. I’ve found a few of you Veeners already. I am freddiedancer.

I am reminded of this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that I’ve always liked.
Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned of you don’t.

Oh Lord. I’ve been wondering this myself. My approach as a beginner has been complete transparency. I knew that if I was trying to hide it, I probably wouldn’t stick with it. I have shared my dances on Facebook. My FB friends seemed very supportive the first time, but they were silent after that. Plus, there is a whole other layer when you have a child who loves to play on it. My husband shared a video on FB of our son spinning with a huge smile on his face. Some dummy friend of his made a stripper joke about it. Peoples reactions to my pole generally make me feel misunderstood, but I am determined not to hide and feel ashamed. I have no advice, but this is my experience.

I saw this ad and video on FB. I guess I watched it before it was taken down? I thought the video was wonderful. I am a Veena fan and love the candid style and delivery of the information. Its perplexing that there is a problem with it considering all the garbage on FB that is perfectly fine.

MemberAugust 10, 2014 at 7:54 am in reply to: help with pancake straddle/lower back stretches?I have really been struggling with pancake straddle lately! I have pain in my left ankle and lower calf. It feels awful when I point my toes, like my ankle and heel is being pushed into the ground. I end up flexing my feet and its better. I can also prop my heel on a rolled towel and its OK. Anyone else experience this?

I, too, am interested in the silicone xpole. Can anyone with more experience than me tell me any ways this pole might be limiting? Ways that I might not be able to move? I think it might be good for me because I sweat a lot plus I feel it might be safer for my young son to use. He is a trickster and I know he will be up the pole too. Is grippier safer? Your thoughts are much appreciated.
