YAY! Glitter, you did AWESOME!!!! Sounds like the "sisters" were just trying to make some cash by going in as a team, didn’t matter which girl won, they’re probably splitting the earnings…lame. But YOU did great! I am sooo proud of you! I wish I could find an amateur night around here to go to, you make me a little braver https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif BRAVO!!!

Oh my gosh I love all your tattoos!!!
My mom and all three of my sisters have tattoos because we have a friend in France who is a tattoo artists. I’m the only one who isn’t inked and you guys are really making me want to get one!!!
Love the fairy, that is amazing! And Azzwoo, very cool that you designed it yourself. I love how everyone is really represented by their tattoos https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I once saw a woman who had a tattoo on her shoulder blade and it was the color of light Hena, I think it would be nearly invisible if she was tan. I woud love something like that. Kind of like you Shelby, the white is very subtle.

I LOVE heels, I’m always looking through the catalogue for new ones https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I prefer dancing in them.
BUT, I always do new moves barefoot or moves I don’t feel I’ve trully mastered. Also, when I dance at home on my carpet I don’t wear heels, it’s just a pain!

Glitter you will do great! Have FUN! I think the most important thing to remember in performance is to SLOW DOWN! You will go about twice as fast as you usually do because of nerves so just remember to take your time and you will do great and be safer too. Let us know how it goes!

Are you talking about gemini? There are different names, I’m not sure which move you are referring to but give me a little more info and I will try to help. Is it an inversion with the outside leg hooked at the knee? Don’t stress, just give it a rest for a while and work on other things and go back to it later.

Pole dancing is the best core and upper body workout I have found. I’ve never had the kind of definition I’m getting in my abs before. I would have a six pack if my body fat was lower! You bet it’ll tone your midsection!

I’m one of the young’uns https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I will be 23 in October of this year. My mother was a professional dancer before becoming a dance teacher so I started dancing young (age 5) and my true love is ballet. I also danced jazz for many years and started taking modern dance in college. I’ve tried Indian, Irish, and tap dance but am a beginner in all of those.
I started pole dancing after seeing Felix’s performance on youtube so I am nearing the 1 year mark for my pole adventure https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Of course, all my dance training gave me quite an advantage!
I am 5’10” and 158lbs (yes, I’m heavy! Just goes to show the number doesn’t matter, my body looks better now than it did when I was 15 lbs lighter!)

It’s ok Veena, I was super excited when I finally got mine too! I know we’ve both been struggling with it for a while! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Split grip is very tricky and it took me a while of working on it before the forearm pain went away. If you really focus on your lats doing the work it will help immensely (and even for those of us who have this down, it’s great to remind ourselves of this!).
The TOP arm is the one doing the work!!! You aren’t really pushing out with the bottom arm, it’s just there for support, the top arm is the one pulling up really hard! Also, for those of you working on air walk or bodywave, thinking of engaging the lats even more helps to stop spinning. -
I have a couple of stretching videos up if you want to look at them for some basic starting stretches. The main thing is to do it after you are very warm, you won’t make much progress if you’re stretching cold. Keep at it!

I have TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome) and it caused me to have great pain in my jaw and I was unable to open or close very much, could not eat anything hard even bread with crust, etc.
Maybe it’s something like that? Seems more likely than tetanus…but I don’t know. I think you should go see a dentist. For me it occured when I was very stressed and the muscles in my jaw just got so tight. I was referred by my dentist to a specialist and he gave me anti-inflamatories which relieved the pain and muscle relaxers to ease the tightness. I was given some excercises to do and did massage therapy and it is completely gone now.
Do you know if you grind your teeth at night? The fact that you woke up with it is a telltale sign…That is apparently what caused mine. If so, they can make a night guard for you that will protect your teeth and keep you jaw form locking like that at night. Don’t buy the premade ones at the store though, they won’t fit your teeth/jaw correctly and can cause more trouble.
Anyway, I don’t know if this will help but just thought I should let you know since I’ve had a similar experience. Hope you feel better soon!

I believe it was high school age, not college age. They refer to schools differently in the UK…
Personally, I understand how some parents would feel apprehensive. High school kids are full of hormones, there is no way those boys are not going to see it as a sexual thing and the girls at that age are way too craved for attention, and…well, all I’m saying is I can see the worry. In college, now that is a different story, at that age you are on your own!
Pole dancing is new and it will take time for it to be recognized from a sports perspective. Putting on a show at a high school might not have been the best idea and she COULD have made it more sporty and more clothed. I think these people do a great job of really representing the sport aspect of pole dancing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2Ya3af3IGoNow don’t get me wrong, I love the sensual aspect of pole dancing but we have to consider our audience and recognize that we are going to have to sell the fitness aspect before we get recognition. Just my thought on this…

It’s hard to see in Kelly Kayne’s video but she is essentially starting with a nose breaker and then performing a shoulder dismount from there. She does it very fast and smooth and from a scrunched up inverted crucifix for added effect! Sarah Cretul did the same move in her number for USPDF, you can see it in this highlights video at 1:56 :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWMrfggZzo0You’ll need to get comfortable with both the nose breaker slide down and the shoulder dismount to give it a go!

OK, I HAVE to reply to this.
1. You’re f*^#*ing HOT! Your body is UNREAL with 4, cout’em, 4 KIDS!
2. You are an AMAZING dancer, coulda shoulda woulda been a ballerina, and I’ve told you that many times before.
3. I would NEVER have thought you were above 25 years old, and BESIDES, 31 is not old! This a##hole clearly has issues with women and no life and has nothing better to do with his miserable little brain than to put others down who he KNOWS are WAAAAY out of his league in an effort to make himself feel slightly less like a measley, ugly, and aging D)*^@)BAG. Now hand over his screenname so I can blast at his insecurities on his page (shouldn’t be too freaking hard, screams of mommy issues!).
People like that make me SO MAD, and I’m "intimidating" when I’m in a good mood. This guy would cower in shame and fear right now if I could find him. What a low life form…

Neke! Add me on youtube! I’m fleurthefrenchcat. I also port all my "sexy" vids on private on youtube but I figure people who have signed on Veena’s site are pretty serious about pole dancing and will respect my videos…I hope!

We call this "pole fear" at my studio, don’t worry, the more you do it, the more confortable you will get with the pole and the sensation of falling around it. Just takes practice! Also, try doinga back spin, some people don’t like to fall forward but if you have them going backward, the spin right away!
-
I’m afraid I can’t help you on this one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif But Veena’s lessons will be a great resource for you until the sensation makes its way to Alaska https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Good luck!

Lie – Black Light Burns
OOOOOOOHHHH! You’re a genius!!! Lately I’ve been in a dark, hard rock kind of mood for my pole dancing and I’ve been looking through my music dissapointed with all of it but I forgot about this song! FABULOUS suggestion! Thanks! Get ready to see an uncut dance from me to this one!
