I started on a 50mm and a year later got a 45mm, which I love. I didn’t find it hard on my legs at all and found CAR’s etc fine. I’m around 5ft 5 with smallish hands and love the 45mm for the grip, I just feel more confident attempting moves with the smaller pole. I would love to try the 40mm for comparison,it must be great for spinning!!

sorry, something went wrong there.. I was going to add I have quite meaty thighs at the top so I have more to grip with. Chrome is a bit tricky in Autumn and winter for me in the UK , I have to warm up the pole and me thoroughly and add heat to the room or I'll spend 30 mins just sliding down, but overall I love my pole, I think TG might be a good choice choice, I

I love Jamilla’s dvd ‘s. I got Felix’ s but there’s just not as much explanation or detail as Jamillia’ s and as I’m self taught I need all the help I can get lol. Good luck and have fun.

I totally agree with Chem, you are never too old. I got a pole 3 years ago when I was 46 and taught myself at home as there were no classes here. I love my pole it keeps me happy and sane and I can practice whenever I feel like it. My girls, 8 and 15 think it's great that I can do handstands and inverts etc . Go ahead and get a pole you won't regret it !!

I would go with the 45mm. I started with the 50mm 3 years ago and after a year got a 45mm. I find grip so much easier especially for spins my fingers used to ache with the 50mm and I had no trouble adjusting with thigh grips. I'm about 5ft 5 with slightly smaller than average hands.

Hi, my hips are the same as yours 38 1/2 sometimes I manage to lose an inch, my Mila (les) are size M/L and they fit well washed and worn tons and still good.
I don’t have any shorts to compare these with, but I do have 2 pairs of bad kitty Brazil bottoms in medium, the Mila Elias give more coverage,I love both. Shipping from Mila yoga wear was really quick and cheap Band they were helpful when I sent a question to them. Sorry for my spelling Tec I’m on my kindle and it doesn’t like me !! 🙁 -
I started with a 50mm 3 years ago, but after a year got a 45mm, it was much easier for grip and I didn,t really notice too much difference with the leg grips, I'm 5ft 5 with small but not tiny hands, I would def say go with 45mm.

Love Tara's videos, I saw the new ones come up on my Youtube account and was sooo excited that Tara was back, her videos were an inspiration to me too to start poleing when I wondered if maybe I was too old at 46, that was 3 years ago so glad I found them such a graceful and beautiful dancer!!

I started going out with Simon when I was 17, and we married 7 1/2 years later. In 1994 out of the blue he suffered a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage and post op stroke, he made a good recovery although obviously things changed for us suddenly, We had to get through the next few months without much help, they just said get on with your life there wasn't much info 20 years ago for younger people, and all the horrible stuff that happens after any brain injury, but we got through the hard times and went on to have two beautiful girls, now age 15 and 8 and this October we will have been together 32 years 🙂

Just ordered Private dancer from Amazon and I'll get the latest one next month, Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info Corby and acoretacri it is quite expensive with shipping and I know that I won't do it 3 to 4 times per week as well as poling and walking, I'm just not that committed lol, but it did look interesting it reminds me of those 80's workouts I did in my 20s, I'll save my money for some more polewear, Thanks again 🙂

I got the first two dvds before I started poling, but not Private Dancer or Stripper Dance, I'm interested in getting Stripper dance but I was just wondering if it's very similar in content to Alethea's floorwork dvd or if I needed to get Private dancer as well to learn some of the moves, I think I have to pay $10 for shipping to U.K so wanted your ideas before ordering Thanks ladies 🙂

Just wondered if anyone had had tried the dvd,

MemberMay 10, 2013 at 3:59 pm in reply to: Which size pole is best for a bigginer? 45 or 50?I got a 50 mm X sport sport, but after a year got a 45mm X pert, which I love. I just find the grip so much easier and found no probs with thigh holds but I do have thickish thighs. ( am about 5ft 5 and around 150 pounds.) I just find the 45mm so much better for grip as my fingers meet around the pole, unlike the gap with a 50mm. Lots of girls on here love their 50mm's, especially if they have are taller or have large hands but from experience of both poles I love the 45mm!

I'm 49 and started poling at home 3 years ago, I love it, it keeps me strong and it's the most fun I've ever had exercising,
