Brett Copes from Fight or Flight makes them. I tried to order from him and didn’t have a lot of luck. Hopefully it will be easier for you guys.

We need to ask USPDF as a community. Why don’t they post their scores? What are their exact scoring requirements? Why dont they allow their videos to be posted on YouTube? How can they remain transparent when judges and competitors are from the same studio? How can some performances be flawless and not place while others do? The whole way they operate seems like they have something to hide. These scores and videos should be made public.

Ladies, this conversation is getting way out of hand.  The title of this post is "Unethical Competitions" not "Unethical Competitiors"  There is no reason to be offended.  USPDF basically makes the decision on who gets to be the next big name in pole dancing in the US for the coming years.  We empower them to make those decisions for us.  If they are doing things that are not transparent, and we continually support it, then what reason do they have to change?  If we keep supporting organizations that have bias and can't stick to their own requirements, they will continue to do so.  We are feeding a tiger and hoping it won't bite us in the ass.  That is the point of this conversation.  Please don't be offended!

That was really pretty!  I know most of the comments on here were about the number of tricks you did, but I think it comes down to personal preference.  I like to watch tricks, and I confess that when I watch a video, I usually skip through the floorwork. I have two critiques:

    1.  When you do a trick, try to count slowly in your head to 10.  That way the crowd has time to register what you are doing, and there is adequate time to react (clap)  I have a hard time with this too, I feel like sometimes I am in a pose forever before I hear people start to clap. 🙂

    2.  Transitions:  at one point in the routine, you did a hood ornament, then came down, then lifted back up into a Jade.  Instead, try to group poses like this together (from hood ornament, you could lift right into jade) so there is less time spent coming down, it helps conserve energy too.  By saving time you can add larger bits of floor stuff if you wish, or you can use that time to hold your poses longer.

"You however are demonstrating a product on the level of professional competitors. Who would never perform on such a stage anyway."

Payton, They used PS Star Standalone poles at "Rock the pole" (if you don't know what that is, look it up on youtube) and every time they tried to clean them, the pole popped out of the base. Also, the base and pole wobbled so much, a couple people fell.  These are PROFESSIONAL COMPETITORS.

I personally have competed 3 times before and if I was given that pole to compete on, I would be very nervous.  I have an x-pole lite, I use it 5-10 times a week in various locations and my group uses it to practice and perform doubles and triples.  I have never been scared to do so, because I can't tip it over by looking at it.

I'm really sorry that you had a bad experience with x-pole, but I know that if you gave them the same attitude you are displaying on SV, it's no wonder you received bad customer service as you claimed.  You get back what you send out.  JUST SAYING.

Go for it girl!  It takes a lot of guts to compete, and it's an awesome experience.  Freestyle as often as you can in class or at home and keep trying to incorporate new moves in your freestyle. Please keep us posted about your progress. 🙂

I'm a full time hairdresser, I teach 4-6 classes a week ranging from 45 minutes up to 2 hours. I practice with my group Aerial Intensity usually once a week for 2 hours at least.  I train on lyra once a week, then I perform on a regular basis with a local burlesque/ aerial arts group.  🙂  I love my life!!! 🙂

Dude, you are almost there!  Honestly, I would try it from a brass monkey, that way your legs are already comfortable and secure, then you can bring your body around and arch.

July 31, 2011 at 4:22 pm in reply to: Lighter Color on Dyed Red Hair? Help me do it at home Please!

I have been a full time Hairdresser for almost 10 years.  I would suggest instead of using any type of bleach at this time, that you should go to sallys and purchase this http://www.sallybeauty.com/color-remover/SBS-342350,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair05-10

It's a color remover, there is no bleach in it, it is totally safe.  you can use it more than once as the instructions state until you reach the level you want.

Then once you reach a lighter color, you can put color on top of it with 10 volume peroxide.  Please note, that the color you put on your hair will not make your hair any lighter, that is what the color remover is for.  If you need help picking out a color to put on after you have removed the red, please contact me here on on facebook (linday green) and I am more than happy to help. 🙂

I work at three different studios and I recommend people to them based on where they are in Phoenix, we are super spread out here and it's nice to be able to send someone to take pole and trust that the studio is doing the same for you.  GO POLE COMMUNITY!

The easiest way to get it out is to take a broom handle and put it inside the tube and hit the broom on the floor until the joint comes out, it works.

I taught my first Co-Ed class the other day, and I taught everyone the CKR, not thinking about package issues.  The guys all did fine, but I noticed that they all held it a little lower on their thighs.  Guys are super strong to begin with, so he probably won't have any issues with leg strength.  Also, all guys are very very aware of what could or could not potentially hurt their packages, so just tell him to be careful not to slam into the pole when he gets into it, and he will be just fine.

Also, maybe some briefs would help keep all that contained.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I have an X-stage lite that I use for practice and perfomances, and I love it!  It wobbles slightly but you get used to it pretty quickly.  Rachel, For me to keep momentum I try to really take my time when I climb.  try to hold a fireman for one revolution then stand slowly for a couple revolutions, the longer you hold more simple moves, the less it wobbles.

Elizabeth marchenko created this move. Here’s a video of the first rainbow marchenko. Anastasia and Rebecca starr also do this move. Very cool. Also one of my long term goals 🙂

    Yay!  A hair conversation!

Semisweetdreams has a great point, and I actually used it yesterday.  I have been a hairdresser for 8 years and I have done everything in the book to my hair, and managed to keep it connected to my head.:)

My suggestion would be to head to your local Sally's Beauty Supply and pick up a box of Color fix

     http://cdn2.iofferphoto.com/img/item/190/847/148/jheri-redding-one-n-only-color-fix-for-hair-29-99-8e58c.jpg

It's a yellow box and it's not bleach.  It removes oxidized color from your hair.  You apply leave it in for 20 minutes and rinse.  If you don't reach the desired level, you can apply again.

It doesn't burn or hurt your hair.  I use this on my own hair quite often.  Like SemiSweetdreams said, it smells awful, but it works.

KEEP IN MIND, It will not return your hair to your natural color, it will take you back to the underlying pigment (which is probably going to be orange or yellow) but it will do it safely.  Then you can put in your fun colors (Bright red would work really well)  Make sure you follow the directions inside the box.  🙂
