Oops. Accidentally posted from my phone. I was just trying to search to see if there is a lesson for this, not start a thread. So sorry. 🙂

You will do it! Keep trying! 🙂 I agree, it is probably just one thing that’s going to click for you. The one thing that helps me hold the inverted V is making sure the skin on the side of my torso is exposed. So wearing a
crop top or just lifting my shirt up a little. If the skin on the side of my torso/stomach is touching the pole while I’m crunched over and my pelvis is tucked in, I feel like it helps me stay in that inverted v position better. 🙂

Thanks so much everyone! I read all of your great advice! Today was my first day of my new session at pole class. It’s the first thing I tried and I did it!! I only held it for about 3 seconds but the whole class was cheering for me. :-). This is what I did:
-started with hips in front of pole, hands at head level
-tucked my knees up in a frog position and tilted back
-once I was tilted back far enough, I straightened my legs
-at the same time I straightened my legs, I tucked my pelvis inward and held it as long as I could. 🙂

My intructor is now teaching us to do the chopper into the Gemini. I will be so happy to get that down, but want to practice the chopper a little more…or a lot more. 🙂

I was there with all of the girls from my pole class. All of the instructors from the studio I go to.. Tease Dance Fitness (Naperville, IL) were there too OMG it was awesome! It was my birthday and a great way yo spend it! Everyone competing did such a beautiful job! Congratulations to all of you!

I bought some Mika stuff there too. 🙂

I love the pretzel spin and I have only done it on a static pole. I get a lot of momentum by really lifting and swinging my left leg out and around at the beginning of the spin.

Just want to update you guys.  I did the invert without using the leverage of the back of my ankle and got up there just using my arms. Thanks again everyone and BACE16. What you said really helped!  I'm getting closer and closer to getting the chopper.  🙂

Thanks so much. I actually do tuck when I invert and the swing my left leg up to the pole. Once the back of my left ankle touches the pole I then use that leverage to get my hips up against the pole. I hope that makes sense. I can also use the baseball grip and tuck 5 times in a row on each side (knees to chest) without my feet touching the ground.

I’m only 5’1″ and I can do this spin. I just do the reverse grab starting with some good momentum swinging my left leg around. Then at the end of the spin I focus on wrapping the pole with the inside of my left leg. The trick for me is to start out with some good momentum. Practice it first by kind of walking through the move first. This is my favorite spin. 🙂

The move I’m having big problems with is the chopper. I feel like I will never get that one.
