Personally, I like the anonymity that boards provide. I’ve heard from some of the professional polers that they have profiles on boards that are not their real names as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I think it’s good to be able to just be "polers" on the board and not have to identify with a specific group. But that’s just my .02 cents.
In regards to the studio owner boards, Heather from Aradia recently started a group on FB for pole instructors, studio managers and owners. You might want to reach out to her to be added to that group. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Ditto to what all the ladies have already said. Weight should not be an obstacle. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif However, in regards to challenges the only thing I would say is really pay attention to your form to ensure you are utilizing the correct muscles. I have found it very easy for me to lose form when performing a trick (darn gravity). Also condition, condition, condition and condition some more. I’m so in that mode now. I do not video myself alot because of my day job but my sister who is also a plus size poler does. Her videos are not on Veena but here is her facebook page:

We recently switched to K and K Insurance because our previous company stopped covering pole studios. They would continue to cover us as previous policy holders but would not cover any of the new instructors. Good Luck!

I would agree with Amy, workshops are great for developing general skill sets but I would highly recommend privates if you really want to work on specific moves. Our team of Instructors have taken workshops with Alethea, Wendy Traskos, Amber, Jenyne, Fiyastarter and Collette. It depends on what you’re looking to learn. The sexy flexy workshop focuses on sexy transitions on and off the pole but primarily on the pole. My girlfriend took the floorwork workshop and it was focuses primarily on floorwork off of the pole. The moves range from beginner moves to more advanced floorwork options.

I didn’t read all the responses…so if something similar has been said forgive me. Tonight in one of our Intro to Pole classes we had a girl come in who is a dancer. She was awesome to watch. She was very confident, poised, and sexy as heck! I was completely captivated by her dance.
