If I use the pet/street thing I’d be Schaefer Gordon….more porn I think!
If I used my grandmas name I’d be Rosina…kinda cute but not a pole name??
My SV name CodeAngel comes from my love of HTML/CSS…bit geeky so I added the angel lol.
This thread has got me seriously wanting a pole name now!!

There is always the old school method………………..
….take your very first pets name and follow it with the name of the first street you lived in!Unfortunately that makes me Schaeffer Gordon!

Hi Claire!
I’m a UK girlie too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Arm and shoulder stregth comes with time and practice, the most important thing you can do for yourself is to always always warm up properly before any pole practice session, even at home.
My warm up normaly consists of a little aerobic (Wii Fit or something) followed by some really thorough stretching.
Once you are full warmed up start on the pole with some really basic spins to get your body even more prepared.
Dont ever be hard on yourself with regards to strength, this is something that builds up very gradually and all of a sudden one day you will get a move that you couldnt before. Those days always deserve a happy dance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Dont push your shoulder to recover too soon, listen to your body and only start again when you feel fully ready.
If you want a few strength tips then I would say:
Pushups
Pole lifts (stand to the side of the pole, hips next to and slightly infront of the pole, outside arm always as the higher arm but inside arm just underneath, then lift your knees to your chest slowly and try to pulse them there) these can be done on both side regardless of stronger arms.
Sit ups (although it may seem that all you need is arm strength, your body also uses your abs ect
(deceptivley sometimes I know) so if you increase your ab strength also you will find it compliments the arm and shoulder work. Your abs can also take the strain slighty from your shoulders).Hope this helps!!

I had this prob too, the way I trained myself was to practice from standing but instead of hoping into the invert keep the foot you’d hop with on the pole so that when you lift you just push with that foot. (stand with your hip to the pole and the inside leg’s foot flat onto the pole pointing toward the floor) That really helped me increase the strength needed for the aerial invert.
Hope this helps you too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
Hi Nelly,
Hope you enjoy this site!! Its full of pole addicts, most of us stumbled across pole in a similar way to you!
Please please promise me something…………………….do not use the peek a boo for any big moves and be incredibly careful with spins. You must always be concious of where you are holding the pole due to its spring loaded nature, its the death trap of the poling world.
Anyways enough of my preaching……………Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif x -

Best wishes with it al!! x -

You can find the Honeys DVD online, here’s a link to an amazon copy
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/276-6868135-3090232?a=B000M06KJS
that’s the link I got from my phone, it may be a little different on the pc.the move I call the ripple may be known as something different to others but basically it’s where you stand facing the pole and roll your body in and out like a ripple in an ocean. It really works your abs.
Hope this helps xx

Hi Ya,
I like to use my Wii fit, that always gives me a great warm up and its a good laugh.
If I’m trying to burn calories I use my pole but I try to challenge myself (like the Veena monthly challenges) eg: Dance continuously to 2 songs using spins, inverts and linking moves.
Do a full song of just floorwork
I also try to do lots of ripples and pole squats as these work the areas I’m trying to tone. Also the FHM high street honeys vid is pretty cool.
Good luck!

Hi ya,
Ok, so I too am very determined to get the splits and I thought I’d research some stretching techniques so that I am doing it correctly.
I stumbled across this website http://www.cmcrossroads.com/bradapp/docs/rec/stretching/stretching_5.html
Its brilliant, I am currently doing this sequence of stretching every day and I can already see an improvement and my muscles dont even ache. The guy who writes this says you should reach your maximum flexibility in around 2 months!!! He also discusses warming up properly and all sorts of other stuff.
I have started a blog to record my progress, please feel free to check in anytime, I will do my best to update regularly……….maybe we can motivate eachother?!
I will keep posting my progress…………..I’m soooooo excited! -
Hi ya!
I’m from England too, though quite far from you, I’m from SE London.
I think 21 is a fine age to still be at home with parents and waiting until you’re financially stable is a very sensible idea……..you’re young…enjoy your money!Although I joined this site in Jan, I didnt actually start using it til July ( I kinda forgot about it til the daily updates started) so I’m still very new to it all!
I look forward to your first vid, maybe I”ll post my first one soon too….just havent plucked up the courage, only just put some piccy’s on yesterday, still baby steps are better than nothing!
Good luck with your training,
