Great idea, thanks for starting this thread Tiggertail!
I just started my own FB page last night, and it has only 1 lonely 'like' from me right now. So any new 'likes' will be super appreciated! 😀

And I also blog about life at Bobbi's Pole Studio in Singapore over here:

TIA!

Hi Mizzgabrielle, I have the same problem too! My legs bend the other way though, they are knock-knees and one side hyperextends more than the other.
It really helps to flex your feet and keep the quads engaged. I used to feel the pinching behind my inner knees whenever I did the 'legs on the wall, butt on the floor' stretch, but once my yoga instructor got me to flex my feet it felt fine.
One tip: start with your feet already flexed and quads engaged and keep everything engaged as you stretch them open. Then HOLD! I find engaging my core helps to keep everything in place. 🙂

Thanks Scarletthoney for linking to the interview post! 🙂 I thoroughly enjoyed that chat with Bobbi.. was hella intimidated before I met her but she's lovely in person! Btw here's part 2 of that interview, where Bobbi shares about her past experience as a cabaret strip tease dancer in Japan! Its got some rockin' vintage photos of her too:

So I'm a Bobbi's girl too, from the Singapore studio. (Thank GOD they opened a studio here!) I'm not very advanced yet but I love every minute of it here. And yes, everything that Scarletthoney said is spot-on!
I also think what helps is that we all get to invite our friends and family to come watch us perform during our end-of-term graduation performance every single term. We basically perform the routine we've spent 8 weeks learning, and it's always super super supportive and fun. So that also helps cultivate the awareness of having an actual live audience.
Lol about magical pink powder.. hey if they sold any, I'd def drink it!! 😉

Haven’t tried the tape, but if all else fails what about wearing some pretty burlesque nipple pasties under your outfit so that in the event of wardrobe malfunction, it’ll at least look cute and intentional?

Sensualscimitar, that’s exactly how I feel about my 45mm brass. Its always humid where I am, and before warmup the brass is practically slippery but when I’m really warm I stick to the thing like a fly on glue even with no grip aid at all. Overgrip actually gets painful sometimes… As if trying to get the superman isn’t bad enough! All I can say is thank goodness I didn’t get a TG!

“a “half jade” is just as impressive as a full Jade” ooh, what’s a ‘half jade’? TIA!

I’m practically the living dead for 48 hours every month, starting the day or two before my period and the first day of it. Anytime I work out hard 3 days in a row I have problems getting out of bed as well.

I wish someone had told me that
1) its normal not to progress as fast as ‘everyone else’ does, and that I would definitely get better over time.
2) that I would probably get injured somewhere along the way, and that minor sprains and pulls are normal, pretty common, and not something to freak out and worry so much about!
3) that not all of my friends would ‘get’ how pole isn’t just another hobby but an entire awesome lifestyle, and not to care if they don’t. Cos no one else gets a pole dancer the way her pole sisters do! 😉

Cleo’s routine is absolute madness.. I think my jaw just fell right off!

Milani eye tech liquid liner (the little gold pen-looking one) is a great cheap alternative to MAC if you’re on a budget. I have the same prob as PoledanceABC’s but even between my oily skin, single eyelids and living in Asia where the humidity is always super high, it still lasts all day.

I just used rubbing alcohol from a pharmacy on mine. Seems fine..

I just got a 45 brass X-pole, and I go to a studio that uses 38 brass too. Still getting used to it cos I’ve only used it a couple of times so far.
I find that more arm strength is required to lift on 45, but that’s good training in the long run!

Love how the black/white photo is so pin-up girl! Adorable 😉

Hi Runemist34,
Try making baby steps! If you sleep at 4am, it’s hard to suddenly sleep at 11pm. Just aim to wind down and sleep by 330am first, then if it works, go for 3am, etc.. The point is to be kind with yourself and not put too much pressure on. Hope it helps..

Good for you! I didn’t know what to expect from my parents at first so I brought it up as nonchalantly as I could to my mom. She wasn’t phased so I thought I’d show her a practice routine video which has some floor work in it. I held my breath cos she was quiet throughout, then finally she said was, ‘wow, I’d never have figured you for a pole dancer… you really hoist yourself up there huh?’ Lol

How about demonstrating some safe emergency exit strategies, like how to save yourself if you accidentally fall or slip out of an inverted move?
It’s not a ‘move’ per se, but I’m sure it might come in useful at some point! I’ve read some people talk about the correct way to tuck and roll out of a fall, but I haven’t seen how to do it anywhere.
And I’d love to see spin mode too.

Oh, and definitely try using a slimmer pole!
