You’ll Probably have to buy from x-pole. I’ve been searching craigslist every day since November in Phoenix, flag, LA, and sf. And the only brass poles posted are not x-pole. They’re normally stage poles (the 4×4 hand made one’s that don’t spin). But if you find a dealer let me know.

1. Yes. They’re different in every way except they both include a pole. Communities are different, goals are mostly different. Dancing style is different. I hate when people relate the two, as I am a part of both communities. To put it in Veena’s words, “pole dancers aren’t exotic dancers, but exotic dancers are pole dancers.” I’ve seen a few classy stage shows, but not nearly enough to say my industry is classy or artful
2. Personal preference. Some people have jobs they could get fired from if people knew they poled. In this case stage name is better to avoid face book mix ups (tagging pics and what not)
3. I am mostly open. I won’t tell someone when I first meet them what I do. I sniff them out and gauge their reaction on a few different topics before I bring it up. But my fb picture is me doing Marley and I am known to street pole whenever I can. Have pole, will dance.
4. Family sport. The us recognizes pole as vertical gymnastics, doesn’t it? If 16 year olds can compete in the Olympics for gymnastics, and have been training for it since they were eight, there’s no reason they couldn’t train vertically. I’ve seen no correlation between people under 16 having babies or ruining their life because they pole and its what “strippers” do. Besides, most kids sit inside and play video games all day. It’s good exercise, let’s kids appreciate art, gives them goals, and let’s them express their creativity. All the while letting them keep their flexibility they have as kids.
5. Studio Veena is not only for pole. Many people practice silks and Chinese pole, both require a lot more clothing than regular pole. There’s also hooping and hammock and contortion. It would be unfair to block anyone of any age because the sites primary focus is something society CONSIDERS sexual. There’s no nudity allowed on this site. So no 18+ necessary.

So I’ve found that when I invert on static, I pause before invert. When spinning, it is one movement. No pause. The pause makes me think I’m going too fast and I psyche myself out. Also, keeping your legs straight through the whole invert helps. I agree with the previous post on going backwards. But I also feel like it’s a lot of trial and error

If you tend to favor your outside leg hang over your inside (like I do) then getting into allegra can be kinda tricky for the pole to rib placement. If you have veena's lessons watch her allegra video and how to enter from OUTSIDE leg hang. I feel like entering from outside as opposed to inside the first few times allows you a lot more room to position the pole and find the spot where it's supposed to go without a lot of risk of injury. When you get where it's supposed to go after that, you can try allegra from superman or back to inside leg hang if you so choose 🙂

I don't have a spinning pole to sell, but let me know if you love yours! We're probably neighbors, as I also live in Arrowhead Ranch area 😀

Oh no. Was just curious.

Will the old packaging be available as well, or will this be the only packaging from now on?

MemberJune 24, 2013 at 6:20 pm in reply to: omg plz help basic invert when doing why do i slid dwnIf you feel like you're kicking up into an invert, but really want to be upsidedown, you should be working on getting out of an invert SLOWLY. Go into reverse handstand, crucifix, and un-invert yourself. Doing it this way is a great way to build muscles without kicking up into anything. I recommend doing the caterpillar prep exercises in this video at about 5:20. If you go from the reverse handstand method, you can do this exercise. Doing these a few times a week will help. I don't recommend caterpillar exercises daily because it's half and half abs and upper body. While you can train your abs every day without a whole lot of risk for over-use, the upper body needs rest time. Make sure you're eating enough protein to make these worth it 🙂

I still see you as a friend on on DDS's page. Sometimes facebook auto-blocks people for no reason…I have a repeated case on my FB page with my friend Renee–sometimes facebook blocks us from eachother for no reason. In 3 days it clears up. Also, I can't seem to find pictures of anyone wearing dance wear on their page, so maybe they deleted everyone's, maybe for legal reasons? They've posted pole stuff in the past, I don't see a reason for them to be uppity about it now.

What does everyone plan on doing at night or on days where they aren't taking classes? I lived in Vegas as a kid, but haven't been there for 10 years so I don't know what has changed. I'm free all of Friday and Saturday and was considering going to atleast one Cirque show, but they're kinda pricey($80-$150 per person). So I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for cheap to moderately priced fun? Obviously shopping and just walking around is in there…But I meant more event type stuff like other shows (will be bringing my partner and mom to pole expo with me) or physical activities like simulators, roller coasters, jet skiing at Mead, etc. Suggestions? Should I make a separate thread or blog post to organize thoughts? Thanks 🙂

I'll probably stay at the Rio or Palace Station. The rooms are cheap for the amount of quality you get, and both are only about a mile from the Palms. I have a feeling the Palms room rate is going to go up because of the convention, so I'm staying off site.
Since it's my birthday, Sunday night I'll be staying at Aria or the Venetian 🙂 When I lived in Vegas we only recommended people stay at any of the "Station" (Fiesta, Texas, Palace, etc) casinos because the rooms are a great price and the buffets are usually the best in town.
If you want a cheaper hotel ON the strip, I recommend the Excalibur. Especially if you plan on bringing kids or a big family. It's a really entertaining place to stay 🙂 -
I recently found a super cute website that I haven't seen anyone on SV mention. I'll be buying two outfits from them in July

@Luvlee omg I would die to share a room with you and Bob. But my mom and I are acustomed to staying off the strip. Since we used to live in Vegas, we know where all the cheap hotels are. We might stay at Arizona's Charlies 🙂 I'll ask her about it!

I've never been to any organized pole event. What kind of vendors are there, what do they typically sell? I was assuming grip aids and a bad kitty booth, and some adult toys from the sound of it. But beyond that I have little to no idea what to expect or how much money I should save.

They're the only ones with tall poles and open pole on a Sunday, and it's less than 15m from the convention center. We'll see though, I still have 4 other people to talk to.

But my host just backed out on me, so I could be staying anywhere from Riverside to Santa Clara. I have a few friends that I can stay with, but that just set me back some.

MemberJune 7, 2013 at 7:50 pm in reply to: Going to LA, looking for a studio with tall poles!Hi everyone! I'm going to LA at the end of the month. It came as a surprise, but it's something I'm going to do. It looks like I'll be going the 28th-30th. So I'm looking for a studio with tall poles (atleast taller than 12ft), that has either a drop in advanced, or an open pole. I normally try to research myself, but given short notice, I figured I'd just ask here. Thanks. 🙂
Also; if there's no pole studios fitting my description, feel free to leave suggestions for pole studios that have an interesting fusion class or something.
