    Veena, you genius! I’ve been having so much trouble building grip strength for chair/reverse grip spins because my hands do not like chrome! I will try the gloves!

    Cross knee release was the first pole "trick" that I learned. But supposed Pike is supposed to come first? I always get this horrible bruise behind my leg in pike. But one day I was at work and I did pike twice in a row with no issue. Advanced plank, fine. |: Then it goes away for weeks at a time.

    Depends on what you did. Consult a medical professional first. I ripped my rotator cuff because I wasn’t ready for inverts. When you know what’s wrong, only then can you start recovery. In your downtime work only on abs, and when you feel you’re ready to try inverting again, wait an extra 2 weeks and do should strength training. I haven’t had any shoulder pain since my core/shoulder training.

    It’s just the top of my foot that bruises. My instructor after 4 years of pole still gets bruised there as well. The rip is on the top tack, mid shin, where I rarely have contact.

    Given that I pole anywhere between 3-5 times a week (and also am employeed as a dancer) I decided to try mighty grips socks to see if it would help prevent bruising on my dominant climbing foot. I noticed yesterday at practice that the top vinyl tack had ripped after only 3 uses? It’s been much longer than a month, so I don’t think returning them is feesable. But is that normal? My instructor wears socks on both of her feet and has had them for a while, no rips. Is she the lucky one, or am I the unlucky one?

    It’s very possible that there’s a fear factor. I can only walk around the pole clockwise, I can only pirrouette clockwise. I tried doing a roxy spin with my left elbow instead of the right….the bruise I got on my hip…It was scary looking to say the least. But I’m afraid of my left side because I’m afraid of messing up. Wasn’t one of the featured blogs something like, “half of pole in physical strength, and the other half is getting over fear?” I’m sure if you have the proper adrenline rush or inspiration boost, you’ll do it just fine 🙂

    I read that about the flip on a few amazon reviews. What other camera(s) were you looking into?

    You know one trick I never see ANYONE do in competitions or personal videos? The dove drop. I would post a clip but I’m at work.

    Did you still feel like your body was being cleansed even eating the small portions? I go back to work tomorrow and I just got done with the detoxing (or so I feel I did) and don’t want to undo the work I’ve done.

    Thank you for the recipes, also 🙂

    He has a fitness routine for sure, and it’s not just “oh, if I only eat a certain thing I’ll lose all this weight and it will stay that way.”

    There was a documentary where an Australian man did juicing for 60 days. He consulted health specialists and what not. It sounds bad when I say it like, “I don’t want to half-arse the experience” but at the same time, the body needs more than fruits and vegetables.

    I’m the same way. The only thing that seems to work for me is if the room is freezing. Also, learning on a different material pole really helps for me. It gets up enough strength to squeeze harder on the standard home pole (ewwwww chrome 😐 )

    @elektra

    Not sure what a standard windmill is, let alone without hands, but as a personal taste, I like getting out of superman by doing what I think is referred to as a “dove drop”. And from leg hold (as I’m not sure if you go into gemini or scorpio in a dove drop) I would shoulder dismount, as that’s quite a long combo :p

    Haha, an actual camcorder, hmmm….I’ll check it out, I’m cheap so I plan on buying my camera off of craigslist :p

    Otherwise, what does your schedule look like that prevents you from recording?

    I have the time, I’m just not sure what a good camera for recording is :/ I’ve bought cameras in the past for tennis, and they didn’t track fast movements too well. Otherwise, I have 2 days off, and go to my studio bi-monthly. I’m envious of women who don’t mind poleing in their garages/infront of piles of folded laundry/while their roomies are doing things behind the, while recording on camera. It’s a great way to track progress.
