TOTAL noob here... No lessons yet, but I have a 50mm TG Xpert all to myself (my precious!) and am in love, which is understandable I suppose in part because I'm a metalsmith by trade. Ooooh, shiny! :) I come from a family of professional dancers, and can hold my own in Latin dance, some ballroom, Shag and Swing. I'm originally from the island of Barbados, so I'm big on reggae, soca and calypso. I've had the pole since early Jan. 2011, haven't practiced as much as I'd like, and have had only ONE sesh where the pole was nice and grippy. It's a battle between my sweaty hands and getting the pole sufficiently warm. Grip aids either don't work, or work for a very short time, so I've gotten gloves to wear while I warm up and they help a ton... And magically, when they come off, my hands aren't as sweaty. Yeah, go figure... :P
