Thank you slkysmth 🙂 I’m seeing my instructor in under 3 hours for the rehearsal so I’ll talk with her then. Luckily the show isn’t until 20 Dec!
Wow, that’s fantastic about your daughter and her team! Tell her congratulations! And the event sounds great. It’s so nice going to something and feeling really awesome in your outfit 🙂
Hope your ceiling mount is fixed quickly. What’s PIYO? 🙂 -
I more-or-less do Veena’s 13 min warm up, and I focus particularly on knees, ankles, feet, wrists and fingers at the end. I also stretch my hip flexors and calves lightly as they’re often a bit tight. Then I do the beginner and novice spins/holds from my studio’s guide book to warm up the pole. Then I try to focus on 1-3 newer intermediate moves and practise those with my crash mat out. Then either a few more basic spins or some stretching. I prefer to stretch after running though, when I’m REALLY warm!

Thanks dustbunny 🙂 Hope your friend enjoys the lesson!

I had to skip class because of neighbours letting fireworks off. I didn’t want to leave the dogs alone. And then I didn’t pole at home either, just kept making excuses to put it off until it was too late. I know why. I’m beyond fed up of thinking about that combo. I even had a bad dream about the show earlier this week. It’s stressing me and taking all the fun out of pole. I’m going to talk to my instructor about finding a new (easier) combo for me to do because I want to enjoy pole again and look forward to practising, instead of dreading it and feeling pressurised 🙁

Nice one dustbunny 🙂 Busy day/eve for me so nothing to report, but it’s class again tomorrow.

Slkysmth – centrifugal force!! Dustbunny is right, you’ll need to be really strong throughout your core to stay straight to the pole when the force of the spin is pulling you around. Not that I have any real tips, being a static girl so far lol. I think I’ve only ever done three beginner spins on spinny (like a fire lady, that sort of thing). Looking forward to seeing your vid 🙂

Nearly got a side saddle superman on my good side 😀 Sooooo close. Then I noticed a spider lurking on the top plate of the pole and I had to retreat to a safe distance, so I did some sit ups instead. Anyway, pole practice 90% completed!

My friend had to cancel yesterday so I poled alone (sniff) and made the OH spot me. More practice tomorrow!

I do everything both sides. My ‘good’ side is generally much better but my bad side catches up eventually. I also try to sometimes start with the good side and sometimes with the bad, so it hopefully becomes habit to be able to do either as needed 🙂

Knee hold! Jealous!!! Well done 😀

Hope you had a fab session Slkysmth 🙂

Run done this morning, brisk dog walk this afternoon and pole session just finished. I didn’t do any of the combo because I’m alone at home – I’ll do that tomorrow when my friend is here to spot me – but BUT BUT… I got a teddy on both sides!!! First time I’ve managed it properly. I usually have to keep my legs bent and use my outer arm to clamp my inner arm. So chuffed! Yesssssss 😀

Thanks Slkysmth and PolerGirl 🙂 I appreciate your support. I’m feeling much more positive today. I already do the eating/water recommendations and they definitely help. I think the main problem is with having had 8 weeks off all exercise with viruses and I still only feel at 90% of my previous fitness. After the 7th or 8th time trying the full combo, much of which is new moves for me, I’m wiped out! I’m going to practice the moves individually at home and then start putting them together. Thanks again ladies x

I felt really dispirited after class last night. Our show isn’t until 20th Dec so I’ve got time to improve, but the combo (for me, right now) is painful and challenging. I will have to aerial invert or there isn’t enough space to finish it off. I managed another aerial invert on my good side but not my bad. My inner/front thighs are literally purple and with massive bruises all down from the switch from inverted thigh hold to inverted hip hold followed by scorpio, then scorpio-gemini-scorpio leg switches. Plus I’m still getting tired. The last few run throughs of the evening, I couldn’t even invert from the ground and had to stand there waiting for the dance bits to join back in. And the other girl who’s doing this combo (just two of us – the others are doing a different one afterwards) has massively overtaken me during the months I was off ill and is doing it smoothly and looking great. I feel like a weak, tired, bruised hippopotamus compared 🙁
And now I’m gonna stop whinging and keep practising until I nail it and it stops hurting. Three essentials in addition to the combo itself: aerial invert has just become top of the list. Hands – I’m trying a new super strength hand anti-perspirant. I don’t need to be more grippy but I do need to stop them getting clammy in the hot room. And general fitness so I can do the whole thing and feel like I could do it again! Trying to be positive here!

Hope you feel better soon, tigerlillies 🙂

I’ve checked Veena’s lessons and tammy is an inverted thigh hold and hercules is an inverted hip hold.
-
I felt sooooo ill this afternoon I nearly skipped class, but this thread really works cos I didn’t want to post I hadn’t gone… so I drove there and luckily felt better by the time I arrived! Practised butterfly to flatline scorpio and my teacher gave me some helpful tips. Also kept practising invert crucifix – tammy – hercules, but I’m struggling with maintaining the thigh hold from tammy to hercules. One to keep trying!

Run and stretches done. Bring on the class!!

I took yesterday off because my bruising and swelling from the private lesson was (is) too painful to get back on the pole. Class tonight, eeeek. If it involves any knee pit grips, I’ll die. But I did walk round a stately home ruin and its grounds all day with a friend for exercise and I’m going to run this morning and then do stretches. I’m still so chuffed about the aerial invert! I really hope I’ve still got it tonight!
Slkysmth, your dog is so cute 🙂

What did you decide? 🙂

Well done db!

I’m in so much pain 🙁 I wish new moves didn’t hurt so badly. I need to watch Veena’s lessons on a few things to pick up some tips. But – a non painful one – I got my first ever aerial invert! I only tried on my good side so I’ll try the other side as well next time. Really pleased 😀

Hope you’re better soon, Slkysmth 🙂 Enjoy class!

Did a run and stretches. Private lesson tomorrow!
