You shouldn't go to strip clubs and heckle the strippers

My hubby and I and a big group of friends went to this "Premiere, Upscale" strip club in DC on Saturday night for my friends birthday. The place was amazing to look at. It was two story with cool stages and poles upstairs and down. Our party was escorted upstairs to the lounge area and we were seated in a great area to view the stage. I was super excited because I had heard some good things about this place. That the girls put on a great show and have some amazing pole skills. After just a few minutes of being there I was quickly dissappointed as girl after girl after girl took to the stage and not a single one of them even got on the pole! We were there for like 4 hours (it was a long night of partying lol) and I saw one girl do a few firemans and that was it! I was like WTF! Eventually we ladies make a trip to the bathroom where I find myself in a discussion with another female patron about how much the strippers suck and how none of them have any moves ( I was drinking and being a bit bitchy. I'm not normally that mean I swear! 😕 ). It turns out one of the dancers was in the stall and heard everything I said! She came out and gave me a pretty dirty look and even made a few short comments about "whoever said we don't have any moves" LOL. I felt bad that she heard me expressing my opinion, I didn't want to hurt anyones feelings but I was also mad because they don't have any moves and it's expensive as hell just to be in there! Drinks are $10 and up and you have to keep drinking or they kick you out! I have to pay out the ass just to watch them sway from left to right and chit chat with eachother on stage? Maybe my expectations were too high. My husband said "Christina, this is the strip club. It's not art. It's not studioveena. Nobody in here gives a damn if these girls can dance or not. We just wanna see their boobs." LOL My bad for thinking the stripclub was the mecca for all things pole LOL. And of course the girl who had heard me took the stage next, and I did my best not to make eye contact with her while she danced LOL. She was so pissed, but.....she didn't use the pole either. What's it even there for?

Hey Sissy I have found the only time I have seen the dancers at the strip clubs go all out on the pole is when a bunch of women are there in a group specifically to view pole and really cheering that on. The times I go and it's just one or two of us they are much more all about the T&A - cause really that's what the guys want to see...and they are going to make their money off of them or get them interested in lap dances - which is really where they make their money. But if it's a gaggle of girls tipping well over cool pole tricks then they rock it out. I get it - it makes sense but it's kinda sucky...Come visit LA there are a few clubs where the girls seem to love the pole and do a lot of tricks.

I have seen some pretty good pole work at Sinners a club in MN. I loved that place. ☀️ I have not been impressed here in San Fransisco though 🙁

I remember one dancer years ago that I saw at a local club who really got me interested in pole (WAYYYYY before it was acceptable). She is the only one I have seen that did anything besides shimmy next to the pole. The only time you will see more than T&A is when they have special guests. Oh, yeah, some of the clubs I have been to the ladies rest room is in the girl's dressing room.

pole dancers aren't strippers. we make this distinction all the time in explaining our hobby/obsession/passion... why wouldn't it apply to strippers also?

My observation has been that the quality of the stage dancing depends on the focus of the club. Most of the strip clubs I've been to in Alberta (my home province) don't offer lap dances at all, so it's all about the stage show. Those girls are the ones that inspired me to take up pole dancing! The strip clubs out east here in Ontario? Well... Granted, I haven't gone out to them all that much yet, but I haven't really been inspired to go back after what I've seen. The girls mostly just got on stage, rubbed themselves against the pole and strutted around for a bit, and then worked the crowd to sell lap dances. Meh. It made the guys I was with happy, but I was underwhelmed. I miss the Alberta clubs.

Well that club sounds sucky, why -DO- they bother placing poles on a stage if the women are just going to rub up against them and don't even know how to even pole? Might I offer a different perspective? When I go into clubs I do not expect to see many tricks. What I do love is that most exotic dancers have their own thing going, their style of movement that I love watching. The basics of their moves and transitions and floor work always gives me ideas for way to make my dancing more fluid. I think if you were going to a club to see tricks - that would be a rather big disappointment. A lot of men don't appreciate pole and they tip on looks and boobies. SO why tire yourself out doing an acrobatic show? Give the customers what they want. Plus you work long shifts on your feet in pleasers - not fun. Most of your money comes from lapdances anyway. There is no point in putting on the cirque of strip club shows. Not to mention that a lot of strip club poles are old and hard to grip and usually not very clean. Depending on the scale of the club they don't like you to wash the pole between dancers(this is a lot at upscale clubs.) What strippers do really well is make eye contact, make the dancing personal, they rock out floor work and sensual movement and booty moves 🥂 Let's keep in mind that pole dancing came from these very girls. They've given us a gift - something that we may do on a higher level tricks wise - but they are the ones breaking their backs doing the long hours and dealing with the public. For us - our pole dancing is getting more and more acceptable everyday - their pole dancing likely will never be.

(*Charley*... I was SO writing my reply while you were writing almost the same thing! HA! LOL!!..Oh well posting in agreement, see below:) Bare in mind also how much energy is required in the pole dancing that we do, now equate that to an 8-10 hour shift in a strip club with about 6-8 20min stage shows PLUS however many lapdances, PLUS simply staying on their feet in heels all night... Do we really wonder that they dont use all their energy up doing fantastic pole moves every stage show when the likely hood is that it wont bring them in any more money, that the hussle and sales pitch is what brings them money mostly, as they dont get paid to dance on stage. We can at least be a little respectful though that pole dancing did come from stripping, it was created from these clubs... and those girls that DID do it in the club were doing it because they loved it, the dancing side of it at least, the pole dancing part, they clearly enjoyed this part as they continued to learn more and create more tricks.... So we have more in common with them than we realise. We should not be annoyed with them that they dont get paid to dance, that they get paid to strip... who's fault is that?... not the girls choice im sure but rather the customers choice...and clearly... they would perfer to dance if they could or this beautiful style would never have exsisted (no the chinese pole dancing nor silks count as it is while simillar in athletics it is very different in style and execution and would not have become the pole dancing we know today)... So while not all of them may learn or perform tricks, whether they can but dont wish to waste energy every stage show, or they cant BECAUSE they dont wish to waste energy to learn and execute so that they can get through an 8 hour physical shift, we can be grateful that they did it at all so that we may enjoy what it has become for us. 🥂 Respectfully and hopefully not too soapboxish... I personally think strippers are amazing. I forever look at myself in the mirror and complain about all the things about me that are 'wrong' (like I'm sure we all do) and I'd never have the confidence to stand up naked in front of someone EXPECTING them to be impressed. That takes some amazing balls (not literally of course). If you wanna see tricks at a strip club you have to pick your night! go when theres someone special performing, then they'll wear a really cool costume and put on a show to music and you will be impressed 😀 I love it how I'm sitting there and going "my god that must take some incredible lat strength! man her muscle definition is incredible" and the guys are just drooling going "boooooooooobs". It makes me laugh 😀 i also love it how you guys are so open about being chicks and going to strip clubs! This is the best site ever! heehee

Yup...Charlie you hit it on the head...it's a strip club geared towards making money - but I for one love checking out the floor work - and you are sooo right about the eye contact. I think there is nothing wrong with them gearing the dances towards their audience - we have to remember while pole may be our passion the club is their job and they are trying to make as much money at it as they can - you have to give the audience what they want 🙂 That being said I have found that a lot of the dancers are more than happy to do some extra pole stuff if you talk to them about it...most of the girls I have met at the clubs that can do pole - like to show it off if there is actually an audience for it. Cheetahs in LA is super fun. We have had better luck going in the afternoon when the clubs are slower and with a bunch of women - and tipping well ...than when it's night or the weekend and the house is predominately guys because they are gonna cater towards them. I get it - it is hard work - I am winded after 1 or 2 dances with real pole work and they are doing a bunch of sets a night...It's like...I can show my hubby a shoulder mount in my yoga gear and he is impressed - however if I am wearing some 6 inch Pleasers and I bend over to say...pick up the tv remote...well that's REALLY impressive - BOO - guys - they are so easy - gotta love it LOL

hahahahahahaha....Sissy, it's ok, I think the movies lead us to believe that strippers are the bomb at poling. Unfortunatly "stripping" means nothing more then taking off your clothes, swaying left to right, and of course....the booty shake. I love you girl. Dont feel bad that she heard you. Sometimes the truth hurts. When she got mad you shoud have just offered her lessons. LOL

Ahh...so strippers are not necessarily poledancers......I had not thought of it that way......they are two seperate things....cuz I'm a pole dancer....but I'm not a stripper. With all due respect to everyone's opinions... I think that drawing a line between stripping and pole dancing is negative to woman kind. I know several strippers who look down on women who pole dance outside of the industry and instructors without prior club experience. I am often offended at these attitudes. If we sit here and say that strippers are not pole dancers that is the same as them saying we are house wives trying to be like them because we are jelous. Now is that true at all? Ofcourse not. If you move around a pole you are a pole dancer. I don't think it's fair to cut people down because they cannont or are unwilling to do tricks. Tricks do not make the dancer. Why do we congratulate each other for doing whole songs of just dance without tricks and love it yet a stripper doesn't have the same freedom? Do we do pole dancing or pole tricks? I think that strippers are professional pole dancers - this is what they do day in and day out for hours for sometimes unthankful patrons. Pole dancing shouldn't be so divided between dancers and strippers. Think about it. Some of the biggest names in pole dancing came from a strip club background. We have no idea how long it took them to learn tricks or how they did it or if they were in a club today if they would bother. Just because all of our routines include tricks doesn't mean that is the only way to pole dance. Pole dance can be an all encompassing art. I think it's fair to be disappointed at the lack of tricking in strip clubs and it's totally an american freedom to express your dislike for the performances. I just we need to try to understand where one another is coming from rather than drawing lines in the sand. We don't put down new pole dancers for not having a lot of tricks - so I don't think we should do it to others outside of this community. I know, Sissy you never meant for anyone to overhear what you were saying and you were honestly giving your opinion in an A-B conversation. There is nothing wrong with that. I just feel like if our attitudes don't change, why should we expect strippers to embrace us? After all , this really is theirs. How can we be offended when strippers call us bored house wives. And some of them do.

Well said Charlie great post...and I would like to add that if we expect and want our familys and friends to accept our poledancing we should be accepting of others as well whether it is a sensually based pole dance, athletic or just some bootie clapping around a pole...and damn I STILL can't seem to get the bootie clap down - crap lol

I think it was meant as not ALL strippers are pole dancers just like not ALL pole dancers are strippers. There are some stripper who never physically touch a pole, to lean on or use for stability or anything, they use the walls or the tip rail or nothing, and they wouldn't be a pole dancer. But I do agree tricks don't make a pole dancer. Dancing around a pole does count otherwise what would beginners be. ...although I guess we would then have to count Miley Cirus (sp?) at the concert thing as pole dancing 😕 which it seems like it was more for ballance and not falling of the top of the truck thing, but whatever

I went to a strip club after I started taking pole dance lessons and had an epiphany: You can't collect money if you are on the pole!!!!!!!!!! Those girls gotta get close to the customers so they can fill up those garters with that hard earned cash!! Sissy, I went to Gentleman's Gold Club in B-more on Halloween and there were two girls there that rocked the pole. Then I hit up Excape and the girls had no pole moves. Hit or miss I guess.

Veruca...that's the same thing I say. If we don't want to be judged we can't judge others. Angel...I tell people this all the time. Money is not made on the pole. The strippers I've trained come in for a private lesson most times as our classes are not the style nor the speed they wish to learn at. I don't teach things they aren't ready for, but their time on the pole is mainly to do something flashy or strong to attract attention. Then they get off the pole and down on the floor to make some tips...and work their way into selling a lap dance. My first inspiration in pole dancing was my first trip to a strip club when I was 39. I can barely remember what she did but I know I was amazed and waited for each dancer to do anything on the pole. Many clubs are not pole oriented - and some it just takes one girl to come in and be good at pole and suddenly they are ALL working the pole more often. It's true too that when they know someone (or a group of customers) is interested they will do more pole work. We take "field trips" with our school to local strip clubs. One in particular has a secondary stage with a pole and the main stage has two poles. They allow our students to use the secondary stage throughout the night and we have a blast. Another note...a couple of years ago, when we were in Jamaica, they had taken their pole down in the disco. This was VERY disappointing and I found dancing so boring that week but I also found out something else. I really rely on that pole for support even if I'm not doing pole work or tricks because I couldn't dance more than 30 minutes in my platforms when my feet began screaming in pain each night! I never realized how much I use the pole for support, and even though I'm doing hard work, my feet are not abused as much on the pole!

Me and my hubby usually go to El Dorado in Baltimore and I love it there. The girls are lively and fun. They hit the stage and give a hellafied show! They work up a mean sweat up there on and off the pole. Then they come out and do lap dances, chat you up, fuck around with you and make sure you enjoy yourself. One time I turned my back for a second and when I turned back around there was a girl doing a handstand in front of my hubby bouncing her ass in his face LOL. That was funny as hell to see and I went and threw her a couple of bucks. She got up laughing, high fived me and went on about her business. I know that you can entertain without a pole and this was by no means my first trip to a strip club LOL. But it was the first time I found myself nodding off in the audience, that's all I'm saying. If I hadn't had such high hopes about the pole tricks in particular (based on what I had heard) I probably wouldn't have given a damn. Plus I think I was really bitter about how expensive everything was LOL. If the show was impressive it would have made my $12 long island iced tea taste a little bit better LOL. I guess I went there expecting a bunch of Alethea Austins to hit the stage. My expectations were just too high. I literally went there with my little notebook in my purse LOL. I guess my friend went on pole trick night....LOL The girls were hot though. They definitely had that going for them...too bad they don't do lapdances there LOL 😎 and I had also never been to a strip club that didn't do lapdances 🤔

ENTERTAINERS in the strip clubs are a dying breed Christina...! STRIPPERS now a days want to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money. Your husband and Charley makes some good points about it sometimes being pointless to go on stage and give a full performance for like 3 dollars.. but ive done it time and time again, i dont know HOW to go on stage and be lazy!! Granted, alot of guys are really impressed by pole work, and sometimes it does earn big money on stage. But only when the right people are in there. Around here there are usually a COUPLE of girls at least, at each club, who work the pole. All the rest just go on stage and look disinterested and bored and shake their flabby asses... LOL!! 😂
