@chem goddess - I had my man checked at the time(s), knowing that it can go back and forth.
I used to get recurring yeast infections from medication and the ONLY thing that worked and wouldn't tip off the YI/BV cycle is Boric Acid. you can find medical grade boric acid on Amazon for pretty cheap. I also recommend getting gel capsules online too. If you can't order stuff online, a lot of drug or health food stores should have both. Fill 1 or 2 capsules with the boric acid and insert them at night for about 7 days. It's a pretty messy treatment so if possible, cut up a towel and place a square of it in your panties to soak up any liquid that comes out (a pad might make your YI worse and I hate them so towel squares it is!) DO NOT TAKE THIS ORALLY IT IS POISON this is literally the ONLY thing that has cleared up a YI fully for me. PM me for me details if you need em!

I have one more treatment......Garlic!!! 🥂While pregnant I had issues, I didn't want to use OTC meds. My midwife suggested garlic and it worked soooo well. I had problems with yeast for a long time, until I used that method. I did a cider vinegar bath for external relief. Take a fresh garlic clove, (use a big one) hehe, peel it, with a needle run a thread through, garlic the long way, tie a knot, leaving a long enough tail so you can pull the garlic out. Put it in at night before bed, take it out in the morning. Do this for 3-5 days. Warring, the smell of garlic will be stuck in your nose when you wake up! lol
I was told with the garlic thing NOT to crush the clove, because the juices can be too strong for your delicate skin and cause burning sensations. I just popped a whole clove in there. Also - I don't know if it always present symptoms in men, but I've given my boyfriend a YI infection before, and you could deifinitely tell something was up! He actually had to use the monistat cream on himself to help with the itching.

I was not sure if boric acid worked for yeast infections, I know it does greatly for BV. Due to my mirena I would get BV about every 4 months and still now maybe once a year. I work in a lab so boric acid is very easy to come by. I just mix up some in warm water and use that as a douche. Boric acid is not poison. It is commonly used at vets offices and kennels to sprinkle on the dog beds to keep fleas at bay. It is also one of the few natural pest deterrants for your garden. It can also be diluted and used as an eye wash. The LD50 of it is 5-20 g/kg. As a reference, table salt has an LD50 of about 4g/kg. 5g/kg is about 315 g for a 140 lb person, or the equivalent af about 2.5 cups.

I thought that if you ingested boric acid it was poison but either way I'm not about to swallow any! I know that you can use it on cuts as an anti-bacterial agent and for eyes too though I never have :) BA has worked when literally nothing else has. If I feel like I might have a YI/BV coming on I sometimes will coat my finger with the powder and insert it. I find that helped. I also have a Mirena and don't think that it caused an increase in YIs. I'm always careful to rinse really well after having sex (inside and outside) and have found that is the best way to prevent them :)
BV is common with many IUDs because it changes your chemistry. Taking folic acid on a daily basis has kept me free and clear of BV for over a year or more.
I take a multivitamin that has folic acid in it. Would that be enough?
So embarassing -- I got PLAIN yogurt yesterday assuming no flavor = no sugars, no worries. It was only after I tried the yogurt thing that I took a second look and saw that the dang yogurt still contained sugar. GAH! I think I might just go to the doctor and have them tell me exactly what's going on.. this is driving me nuts. Do I have to wait until I'm done with my period to see the doctor though?

Most doctors I have seen prefer you are not on your period for a pelvic exam, but I think if you are having pain they may make an exception
Ok well maybe instead of going to the doctor I'll go to the drugstore first and look around for things that have been suggested here and see what I find. (I'm too scared of the garlic thing, so I'll save that as a later option!) Oh and on a lighter note, Chem, when you mentioned you work in a lab it reminded me: my supervisor gave me lab goggles today...they're cheetah print. Hahaha 😀
er...safety glasses of some sort would probaby be a more accurate description. They're still in the bag so I haven't really............I'm just rambling now.....oops!
just remember that chances are, a Dr is going to give you medical options. While they are okay, the benefits of natural options are, imo, greater. I also find them more effective.
They are probably safety glasses. I rarely saw goggles in my lab days.
Yup they're safety glasses. I took them out of the bag today and got a better look at them. Got to wear them too :)

I haven't read the whole thread and if this is repeat info. then I apologize. This is just a maybe and fyi that for me amoxicillin causes me to have a yeast infection. The reoccurance may be due to the antibiotic prescribed. I don't know of any other antibiotics that does cause yeast infections other than amoxil.

What I do with a yeast infection is douche with tea tree oil in water, use vag suppositories for yeast infections and an anti-yeast infection supplement. All these things I have purchased at Whole Foods. If there isn't one around, I think the brand of suppositories is Femdophilus. I think this combination works WAY faster than diflucan, which I hate because it takes so freaking long.
