Xstage lite help

Santa came early today and delivered an xstage lite!! :) :) although whoever said it takes 10 mins to put the pole together phew! It's take me 2 hours just to get the base together!! I found it very difficult trying to slot the plates in, and moving the base Into a star shape was difficult everything was So stuff. I'm hoping this will speed up and more practice I get at doing it! Anyway now its all together the plates don't seem to be sitting flush, I have gaps in between some of them and at the end the Don't meet. I have posted pictures in my album so you can see this. I just want to know if this is normal? Thanks Lizzie xx

The first time is a pain but you learn. I am not sure about the 10 minutes thing but definitely can be done in 20. As for the pie pieces, if jiggling a little does not make them tighter together and the pieces sit in their holes and the pins lock into place you are good. For setting up in the futire, if you look at the base one of the spines will have a hex screw near the center; this is the only piece that does not move at all. If you align the other spines with that in mind it makes things easier. ALSO, there are two parts of the spine that move which need to be lined up before putting the pie piece in.

Awww 2 hours, you poor thing! :( It can take time to learn at first, but as chem said - it gets easier! Don't get too discouraged. We take X Stages with us to performances, and put the entire thing together (base, pie plates, skirt & pole) plus clean it and apply grip if needed in under 5 minutes. That's with 2 performers, so obviously team work helps, and it actually is less than 5 mins, usually only 1 song length (so 3.5 to 4.5 mins?) and it's in front of the audience, so we can't take much longer or they'd get bored hahah! As for your plates not sitting flush, I mostly use the regular X Stage, not the Lite, so I don't want to give you incorrect advice. Hopefully someone else can help soon...

I sprayed a little bit if WD-49 on the bearings of the base. That helped a lot with moving the legs smoothly.

Haha yeah ok I may try doing that coz it really took all my pole strength to try and move them! I realise that I should get quicker now I've worked out how to do it, I think I struggled as well because they've only made instructions for xstages not for the lites. I know they're put together the same but I think it threw me a little! Ok I'm happy if you guys are happy that the pieces don't need to be perfectly aligned and there can be a slight gap. One last question if you step on the edges is it common for the tip bit to lift up? It stays secure but does tilt, gave me a fright when I was just waking around. I've watched veena's side by side and this was one of the things that out me off the platinum stage.

NO, they should NOT tip. There are 3 things that need to happen with the pie pieces. First, the narrow end needs to slide a little under the collar. There is a small space there but they will fit. Second, there are pegs that the pie piece sit on on the ends of the spines. Lastly, there are locking pins on the bottom edges of each edge of the pie pieces that pull and then twist to lock the pie pieces onto the base. These sometimes only line up with one particular plate so you may need to move them around to find the perfect positioning and then mark each pie plate as to where it goes. GeorgiaMarie, the lites and the original are exactly the same with the exception of the height (and the skirt).

Thanks chem, I have done all that maybe I need to have a play of moving the plates around see if some fit in other places better than others, one last question, when I took the plates out the carry cases there was a rubber bit that slotted along the "tip of the pie" I took these off coz I thght they were just for protection during transport but should I have kept them on?

No, they come off (they will not fit in the channel if left on). How far are they lifting up? There really is barely enough room to get them to fit in the first place (at least this has been my experience).
