X-Pole Xpert Help

Hi Ladies, I'm having fun again with my X-Pole Xpert pole: I was dancing the other day and noticed that the bottom part of the pole had slipped just a fraction to one side so it's no longer in line with the key hole to allow me to unscrew the X-joint. I could take the pole apart as the top hole was still aligned, but I immediately emailed X-Pole for some advice on how to get the joint freed up as I can't shift it back into place with my hands. I've been sent the 'cheat sheet' that tells you home to knock the joint free with a broom, but that's no good to me as I can't get the lower part of the joint loose. It's wedged firm. I have already searched the forums and couldn't find anything other than the broom advice, so would be grateful for any other ideas you might have! Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly what has happened. Do you mean that your xjoint has twisted inside the pole? If so, then generally the nice folks at xpole will likely tell you the same thing...if you can't pull the joint out then you have to bang it out or replace both parts. It's easier to bang it out and hope it doesn't ruin the pole, then replace the joint. There isn't another way to unwedge it. You could try to use some grip aid and attempt to twist it out with another person, that helped me once but I think I may have just been lucky. Please see my vid about the xpert- as I've had this problem before. Either joint wasn't tightened evenly and tight enough, or the "nub" in the center ofthe joint did not have enough height to catch the half circular divet inside of the pole, either of these could cause the joint to spin freely inside the pole or cause the pole piece to rotate around the joint. Since only one half of the joint is stuck it is safe to assume that the joint may not have been extended evenly. Xpoleus is really good about helping customers remedy these problems asthey are quite common. I hope some rid bit of info helps ya here. Good luck Hun!

Agreed. I had the same problem and completely ruined a Swiffer handle hammering out the joint. You really have to use WAY more force than you think. Have you tried using WD-40 to make it more slippery? That helped me. Good luck!!

Thank you both, appreciate the advice! I applied the WD40, grabbed a broom and took out the day's frustrations. After a lot of brute force and some very disapproving looks from my dog, the joint finally came out. No apparent damage...! I thought I tightened as well as I usually do, but clearly not. I'm always a bit scared to overdo it and snap the key in the joint, but I will take extra care from now on.

I was afraid of over tighening my xjoints. I gave them a sturdy tug and now were ready to rock. Yes, See Penny's vid! I was watching it and understood where she was coming from. I did the same thing.

Just to me safe, ceck the center knot on the joint and make sure it extends out of the joint and is not flush. (this is so it will catch in the half circlar cutouts on the poles) that way it won't spin around inside the pole... Also check the cutouts. Sometimes the cut outs become damaged when the center knot spins past them. this type of damage will alsi cause a spinning joint. Lastly, when you put the pole together be sure to seat the key completely in the joint. You can't really over tighten it, and the only way to strip the bolt is to not have the key properly seated. Be sure to alternate taghtening the joint on both sides. Once the pole is up go ahead and triple check each section because som settling may occur when th epole is upright. Seat the key again and give it a quick chek to ensure it is infact tight enough at both ends. I'm glad you were able to remove the joint, this can be a very annoying experience.Once you've dealt with this situation you will have more confidence when you put your pole together again, and you will know what to do if it should happen again.
