x-pole still moves on static mode

I recently got an x-pole xpert. I got the permanent ceiling mount for it two. I've had it for about three weeks. I've noticed when I have it on static mode, by the end of one song, it moves a little and I have to retighten the screws at the bottom that lock it into static mode. Does anyone else experience this? I have the holes lined up with the x"s and feel like I am tightening the screws pretty well.

Mine does this too. It's annoying but I haven't found a way to fix it.

Mine does it too and I'm terrified of over tightening the screws!! I have not tried to take it down and put it back up yet though. I hope someone here knows why the pole does this and how to fix it. I feel like it shouldn't do this. When I put it on spin and change back to static it is tight and doesn't move but after a song it moves back and forth...it is very annoying. I have a chrome xpert as well.

You need to tighten the hidden screws under the adjuster cover, periodically. They can loosen like all the other screws.

If it still loosens after tightening the srews by the adjuster cover, then you need to make sure it's still tight to the ceiling. It will loosen periodically with use! :)

OH! and make sure the screws are lined up on the flat suface of the adjuster rod, or it will not stay tightened!

When setting a X-Pole XPERT to ‘Static’ mode it is important to 'Seat' the Hex screws properly. Because the screws tighten against a flat surface if there is any angle or misalignment (not at 90° degree's) between the screw and the 'flat' then the screw does not tighten fully, even though it appears to. The correct way to set an XPERT to static mode is as follows. Align the Hex screws with the X on the base. Initially only tighten only one side. As you tighten and feel the screw pressure start to seat/harden hold the pole in the other hand and gently (with a very small movement rotate/rock the pole back and forth (clockwise/anticlockwise). You will feel the screw continue to turn until it seats firmly against the flat and then becomes harder to turn. Once seated tighten this first screw firmly and then firmly tighten the one on the other side. Your XPERT pole will now stay in static. It is only a very gentle rock and please only use this method on the static and spinning screws. Hope thsi helps X-Pole Tech Team

I have this issue as well, and literally have to tighten up after every spin. It would literally be tighten, do a move/trick, tighten, do a move/trick, tighten, move/trick, tighten and so on. I thought it was normal for a while but my pole school has recently got xPerts and they are solid and don't move no matter how hard I spin on it and theres usually a lot of classes and students using them in one day but they are still solidly static. I make sure the adjuster bit screws are tightened and align the hex screws above the X marks and tighten until I can't turn it anymore. But it still gets loose and moves back and forth. I will definitely try the advice above. Has anyone had any success in securing their poles into static mode without it coming loose?

If the pole will not stay on static after you follow the previous instructions above there is clearly something wrong with the pole set up. First WE would suggest you get some new Hex Screws and then try to the above X-Pole method. We use poles daily, and for shows, competitions etc. if they came undone after one dance all the time we would be well aware of it. Please can you advise us where you are and contact your local X-Pole support centre for help as well. We will get it sorted for you. X-Pole Tech Support

My problem is fixed...I was not tightening the screws that make it static tight enough (probably because I was afraid of overtighening them) now that I put a little more muscle into it my pole hasn't budged :)

I was having the same issue, and found I hadn't tightened them enough either (I was using the "rounder" end of the hex key, and I think that's why). I was having to re-tighten every hour or so, now I haven't had to in weeks. Yay!

Hi everyone Thanks for your advice and thanks for your vid aerialgypsy, that has been helpful. I have been aligning the hex screws with the X mark on the base and tightening them until i can no longer turn the allen key. Ive taken my pole down as i have relatives over and need the space but will put it back up tomorrow and try these tips- first the suggestion from xpole and then the tightening tip from aerialgypsy's video. Thanks!! Xxx

After you tighten them until you can no longer turn the allen key, do you turn the key around and put the bigger side in for the last tighten? That is what I was NOT doing, and why it was still moving on static!

Hi all, AerialGypsy, I can't find the hidden screws you were point out on your video that tightens the adjuster rod? I'm not sure if I have a diff. model xpert? I got mine in May this year... sighhhh I've noticed the adjuster rod moves too so it could be that but I don't see any screws. arghhhh I've tried everything from alighing the hex keys with the x on the base and then screwing it tightly with the key then gentle twists and tightening until it won't tighten any further and then the other side but it won't stop shifting slightly. I think I will give xpole a call and troubleshoot it over the phone. Thanks! xx

@Autumn Sky, only one end of the key fits into the hex screw - I tried turning it around and it doesn't fit :/ so strange.... it must be me not doing something right because the xpoles at the pole schools dont shift at all!

Mizzli - Unscrew your adjuster cover to reveal the screws. They should be there. The pole in the video I got in April.

Mizzli, do we gather from another thread that you are coming to London??? We do not know where you are based. If you are coming to London then why not pop in and see us and we can go through everything with you and show you what we do. Other info: Both ends of the Hex keys should go into the Hex screws. If they do not the screw or Key maybe damaged. We suggest changing the screws first. The ball end of the Hex Key is for rapidly screwing in and out and the other square end is for final tightening. You cannot get the required leverage to lock the static and spinning or adjuster with the ball end. Once I tried the square end, problem solved!

Hi all, Thanks again for your replies. AerialGypsy - it turned out when I took my pole back down that I had to move the adjuster cover up the adjuster rod to see it. For some reason the adjuster cover can't go over the static/spin base bit. It's tightened and no longer turning now. Thanks for your tip. x-pole, I am from London.thanks for the info on the keys. I didn't know the difference between the ball end and other end either and that might be contributing to the problem, I have tightened the hex screws now with the square end. I will get some pictures emailed to the address you have provided. Right now, everything seems really static, tight and no movement - I shall have a pole session tonight on it and see if stays that way. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the advice, everybody. :)

Just an update and after practicing on my pole for a few days it hasn't moved an inch! The secret: I didn't use the allen key properly - I didn't know that the circle end was to screw in and then the other end to lock... my bad! :( Thanks for the tip Xpole The other thing was tightening the adjuster rod with the two hidden hex keys underneath the adjuster cover. Thanks for the useful video AerialGypsy Now I'm too scared to take it off static mode incase it won't stay static anymore! lol! :)
