X-pole on popcorn cieling?

I'm new to the site, hi everyone! Been poling for 5 months and am so addicted! I recently purchased a pole (by X-pole) that I wasn't planning on using until we get to a new apt as our current one has popcorn cielings. The move won't be happening for another few months but I'm dying to get started at home. Has anyone used or is using an X-pole on popcorn cielings? I'm wondering if its possible and if there's anything I need to do differently. Thanks!

Just be sure to find a stud. And welcome!!

I've used my poles on popcorn ceiling before and it hasn't been a problem. Just be sure to find the stud and place the pole under it (but this goes for all ceilings). You may loose a few pieces but it was not noticeable when I took my pole down. Don't forget to check out the lessons here if you're looking for some guidance at home. 🌸

I've used my X-Pole in quite a few different places with different types of textured ceilings and never had a problem until my current place. We moved into a brand new condo this summer that has popcorn ceilings and my X-Pole has worn all of the popcorn off in a ring already. On the upside, it makes it really easy to position properly whenever I take it down and put it up again. On the downside, it's really noticeable when the pole's not up. The boyfriend also doesn't want me setting up more of my poles since he's afraid they'll cause more rings. =( The popcorn in this place seems really soft and fluffy compared to what I've experienced in older apartments and houses. I'm guessing the construction industry has changed the product used to make popcorn ceilings at some point in the not too distant past? =/

I have a popcorn ceiling and its ok. I've had my pole about 3 years....A few pieces come down when I have to take my pole down and put it back up (which I only do every couple months or so) but it doesn't really leave damage on the ceiling. There is slight a dome outline/impression in the ceiling but you have to stare to notice it and honestly when it's down a couple of days I don't even notice the area where it was anymore. To a strangers virgin eyes they won't notice anything.

Thanks everyone, didnt realize this was such a common issue. LOVE that there's such a big supportive pole community to turn to! I'm stoked to get started at home! I notice a lot of you mention you take the pole down every few months.. is this just due to people coming over that you don't want to see the pole, or becasue its recommended for the pole? My instructor at the studio I pole at mentioned something about oiling the pole every 6 mo or so. Is that what people do?

I'll take my pole down for a variety of reasons. Routine maintenance is one of them. Maintenance generally means lubricating the joints on my old style X-Poles with silicone spray. I might also take it down if I want to swap it out for a different pole, since I have a couple which are different sizes. Sometimes I take it down so I can take it with me somewhere (ie. going home for Xmas). On rare occasion, I might take it down just because I want the floor space for something. I don't take mine down for company, but I know a lot of girls do.

It's to let the house rest and the joints in your pole rest, or so I've been told. I have had my pole up for 6months and I'm afraid to take it down because I feel like I won't have the motivation/time to put it back up again (I recently started going to a studio and then I go to work, but it might be a good thing since I overwork my muscles anyway.) P.S: I am ALWAYS looking for pole buddies in the bay area to get down with at open pole at poletential :3

i think i would be too much of a newbie for you to pole with, lol. its only been 5 months that i've been going to poletential. i've mastered the basic invert and crucifix and can do a scorpio and gemini with spotting. i can do a reverse grip spin.. and a variety of other basic spins/twirls but thats the extent of my current abilities.. though i'm confident that having a pole at home will help em to progress much faster!
