Xpole Lite vs Star Stand Alone from PS

I'm really interested in ordering either a xpole lite or a star stand alone stage but I just can't decide between the two. I have a 50mm chrome xpert xpole right now. I'm in desperate need of a smaller pole for sure. So the next one will have to be a 45mm. I worked at a studio that had stainless steel permanent pole only static pole from platinum stages and I <3'ed those poles. But I have heard nothing but bad things about platinum stages and there customer service. I'm so torn between which one to get. I really think I want the star stand alone one but I don't want a pole that's falling apart and no customer service. Plus I've seen ppl say that stainless steel is the worse kind. I just don't understand. :( I'm so confused. Someone please help me. PLEASE!!!!!

there was a thread about this not too long ago, more people tend to like the x then the ssa. personally I have been on both and not taking my dislike of stainless steel into the picture the ssa was a wobbly unstable thing. I did a fireman and thought I was going to tip it. That didn't happen with the X. just my 2 cents if it was my hard earned dollars buying it I would buy the x.

I previously owned the Star Stand Alone (SSA) and sold it for half of what I paid for it just so I could put the money towards the X-stage Lite. The SSA pole comes unscrewed, the base is super wobbly and doesn't lock into place very well, there is no way to add weights to it to make it more stable and platinum stages has been qupted telling SEVERAL people including myself and this was in DECEMBER that they "Now realize the 45mm star stand alone is not safe" and they are "taking it off the market." However they haven't. Do you want to sance on a pole that a company has ADMITTED is unsafe? They then told me that oh the pole is safe just not over 8ft. It doesn't come with carry cases and the base is PLASTIC. The X-stage lite is heavy duty the stage is metal not plastic and each pie piece locks into the next one so that they don't move UNLIKE the SSA where the pie pieces pop out when you try to walk on it, the pole doesn't wobble nearly as much as the SSA, the s-stage has a place to put weights under it, extender legs for extra stability, is capable of going up to 10 feet and being totally safe to dance on AND comes with carry cases. I had both poles in 45. The SSA actually cam unscrewed on me in the middle of a show in front of like 3,000 people while I was in a layback which could have been so dangerous. When I told them about it - they insuated I'm not a very good dancer and not terribly advanced. They also said if I don't want it to come unscrewed I have to do 30 right handed HUGE swings. SSA - worst product ever!

My studio just bought 8 stage lites and they are awesome!! I have performed on an SSA and moved the thing on a reverse grab.

I've been on SSA and XSTage and XStage lite though I've never used the 45mm on the XStage. No matter what pole you use on SSA it will be wobbly and unstable and the history of their customer service speaks for itself. But to answer your question about why you like the PS stainless and people have complained about stainless - some stainless poles are manufactured differently. The finish may vary and the nickle content may vary. I have used PS Multi-piece poles and they slip more than their static poles do - I've heard others with the same opinion. Lil Mynx stainless poles are even more slippery. I have stainless poles from Pole Danzer at one of our studios and they grip as well as my chrome poles.

I know the SSA gets a lot of bad press, myself included on the customer service issues.. But I LOVE my SSA 50mm. It is STURDY as hell. The bottom base is HEAVY. It will not tip. Trust me, I'm no delicate flower, I and tried my best to knock that pole over. Wasn't going to happen. I do have videos on here of the set up and use. It literally takes MINUTES to break down and set up. I actually have one in the trunk of my car right now, because I'm teaching an in home party tomorrow night! The customer service was disappointing and kinda crappy. But in the end, they did get me all my parts. They only took 1 week longer than expected. They included a free DVD and a 2oz bottle of platinum grip aid (which I LOVE for the stainless steel) and they upgraded my platform to white rather than black wedges (and now I can put lights under it!). So I can't say that I haven't had worst service from other companies. Anyway, thats just my 2 cents. Either way, hope you have a pole to enjoy soon!

I really like my SSA. I made this video showing the stability of the pole. The ez connect part makes it imopssible to come apart. The pie pieces can tip a lil depending on how aggressive u are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGemPvYpq88

While I haven't used an SSA, I have recently enjoyed the use of a 45mm brass X-Stage Lite. It definitely feels very sturdy. The extendor legs were also nice for extra stability when doing reverse grab spins and spin mode. The brass was actually a little slick, not impossibly slick though. I believe it just needs to be broken in (it was literally brand new). Overall, though, I loved the experience!

Xpole is the shiznit. Lol but all my poles are xpoles due to I want to be a professional pole Dancer I would not dance on anything that would come a loose on me tip over or plain out hurt me... I personally recommended xpole because it has extra support functions like the extended legs and added weights ..our studio just got the new improved platinum stage star stand alone and its very crappy it wiggles and wobbles I don't feel safe at all ....and the pieces u can just pull rite out u can't add extensions on there for more height due to the base is not heavy duty I don't like plastic poles I learned that from Carmen electra pole the x pole stage is heavy duty when I mean heavy duty everything is metal it may be heavy but hey that's wht u want no plastic anything and guarantee metal and chrome lasts longer than plastic any day ......

1) stainless steel is not bad to me. I like it. Chrome is supposed to be similar to stainless steel and it will last, unlike chrome plating, which will rub off over time. It takes time to warm up, but I believe chrome does too. If you are afraid, try to find a studio that has steel poles to try out. 2) PS customer service is not that bad. They are trying to fix their image. I just dealt with them and they really really wanted to please me. If you are concerned, look up their BBB rating and judge for yourself if their rating is good/bad and whether they are deserving of your business. You might try calling them and asking them a TON of questions. They are more than happy to answer them. 3)What is your goal with the stage? Are you wanting to do crazy ass tricks on it, or do you want a stage to dance on for simple performances? If you want to get crazy, get an x stage. If you want something compact, light and to do simple performances, get a PS stage. Talk to LizzyLiz810 and JBStarryEyedGirl. They both have Star Stand Alones and love them. Lizzy even has the new EZ connect version. 4)The PS stage DOES have an extension to go up to 9 is feet on the 50mms and the 45mm SS pole (but not the 45mm brass for safety reasons.) I hope this helps! *Note: I do not have a stage myself, I am going off of other peoples input, but I have dealt with stainless steel poles, and I have dealt with platinum stages customer service before. I am just posing questions for you to consider. Keep in mind, a lot of the girls on here love x pole and hate platinum stages or vice versa so there is definitely going to be a bias in the answer posted. I am trying to make my answer as objective as possible.

Thank you @sensualscimitar for clarifying all of that. :-) We only use real, genuine stainless steel which seems to be a a solution for many who are sensitive or allergic to the nickel in chrome. And, you are correct - we do have extensions except for the in the 1.75 in/45 mm brass. This is an old thread but I wanted to say that I really like my SSA. Very easy to put together, solid strong , heavy pole and it's stainless. Customer service has been wonderful to me. :)
