X-Pert leaves black rings on ceiling

I've had my (authentic) X-pole for over a year now and recently moved to an apartment with an immaculate white ceiling. I've noticed that the pole dome is leaving black rings on the ceiling, which was never an issue at my old apartment. I've tried cleaning the clear rubber on the dome and the ceiling with vinegar, but the rings persists. I know I can always repaint if I move out, but the ceiling looks like poo when I take down my pole. Help?

depending on what kind of ceiling you have, i have heard mr clean magic eraser is supposed to help/work. i worried about this problem too, as the security deposit where i live is worth another pole -__-

oh wait, nevermind I see it's clear. That's really weird. I have a slight ring on my ceiling but it's not black.

I always put a wooden board just a little under an inch thick inbetween my pole and the ceiling. Once you remove the ring or paint over it, you should put a board up as well. Not only does it prevent the black-ring-of-sadness, but it more evenly distributes pressure. I've seen people pole through their ceiling before. I've never had the ring due to the fact that I always use a stability board (you can pic one up from Home Depot, scrap wood is almost always free, or close to) so I can't give any suggestions for that, just how to prevent it in the future.

I do the board. It's a really good idea for all the reasons already listed.

To you ladies who place a board between the ceiling adn the dome: does the board ever slide? I think I would worry about that, since I'm even too scared to put a rug under my pole!

Thanks for the replies! The rings are not super dark ...I'd say more faint, gray, but definitely noticeable on a stark white ceiling. What are the dimensions of the board/plywood you use? I'm wondering about thickness...also, I'm scared of it sliding!

my board is about 16" by 20" and about 3/4ths of an inch thick. Basically, you want something large enough to cover the dome and have an overhang of 3 or so inches. You want it to be small enough not to have a mega over-hang or the weight distribution might be off (aka sliding). I have mine as thick as 3/4" but you could use something thicker, but I wouldn't go thicker than 2" just as a personal preference (makes ceiling splits harder!) I'm afraid to go thinner because I rent, not own my house.

The Mr. Clean Magic eraser will remove all marks on the ceiling.

Is it a popcorn ceiling? Is the ring from the popcorn getting a bit flat? If so, kind of "feather" out the flatness of the ring... scrape a bit on the edges of the ring to make the flatness fade out. Makes it a but less noticeable. Hehe I did it, it kind of makes it less noticeable to a landlord. Is the ring from the grease that the Xpole had when you first got it? I made a little paste out of water and Oxyclean and dabbed it on gently with a sponge. Black/dark ring went away... Hope that helps! 🌸

Mine does this as well. I am guessing it's just the dust that is on the ceiling rubbing back and forth under the silicone. I don't really care much as my pole stays up almost all the time and I plan on painting soon anyway. I would think the magic eraser would work but if you have the raised plaster ceilings like I do, a magic eraser would shred to pieces. It would work but I would think you would have a mess to clean up afterward.

This magic eraser sounds quite...magical? I'm going to pick one up today. I may try the plywood once my pole extension arrives. @c1997347 ha, thank you! Hopefully I'll be posting videos soon...kind of scary it's been over a year. THANK YOU EVERYONE! Glad I'm not the only ring-sufferer out there.
