I put up my new Xpert 50 mm chrome pole last Sunday, and it's very slick. I can't grip it to spin or climb or invert. I have tried itac2, tite grip and dry hands. None of them have worked. I don't have this problem on the poles at the studio I teach at. How do I fix this problem? I don't want to break my neck.

what are the poles at the studio? are you warming up your body and the pole with spins prior to using it? the pole should be warm to the touch.

Have you worked on chrome before?? Chrome isn't as grippy as other surfaces when it hasn't been warmed up yet. I have the chrome x-pert 50mm too and I love it. You do have to warm it a bit before it gets as grippy though, So if you're used to working on another surface, It might just take a while to adjust to. I like to do a few minutes worth of spins and wiping down my pole constantly to try to get it warm before I get started on mine 🙂
I am soooo Happy I am not the only person having a problem with the 50 chrome! 🤔 I mean Im sorry you are but glad I am not alone in it. At the studio I go to they have lil minx and I dont have ANY Problems even at my beginner level...I too need tips for breaking in this pole so as to not get discouraged.

I've always had grip issues with the chrome Xpoles. I started out ob chrome, then moved to TG, and now I have a brass pole. Different metals work with different skin types. The only time I can really get on with chrome is in the middle of the summer when it's super humid, otherwise.. it's a slip-slidin' all over for me.
We use Lil Mynx at our studio. I got the Xpole cuz my hubby was flipping out about drilling something into the ceiling of our house. Most men would be thrilled to have a pole. My husband worries about the value of our house if the ceiling is damaged. I try to warm up by spinning on it, but I literally fall to the ground when I try to spin. I can't grip at all. Is there a way to actually physically warm the pole. I do realize that the pole is colder to the touch than the ones at our studio.

I've heard about people using hairdryers to warm up their pole. I've never tried it, but you could give it a shot. Don't forget to warm up your body properly too! Good luck!!

I do realize that the pole is colder to the touch than the ones at our studio. if your body and hands aren't warm then you will slip... try taking a really long hot shower, drying off, then poling. you can also warm up the pole with pirouettes and transitions and walking without spinning.
Hey, I had the same sliipy issues in the winter and have used the hair dryer to warm my pole up, equally in the summer when the chrome gets too hot i've been know to use an ice block to cool it down. Depends entirely on the weather, I do find it easier on chrome to grip if my body is wam esp for things like the teddy. I find the stainless steel one to be equally good in all weathers and i'm considering getting one of those as well so i can try both and get used to both. Before I realised i needed to be really warm to use the chrome, tricks were unbareably difficult. The minute I went to a pole studio and used the SS poles the tricks i worked so hard with on the chrome were easy peasy so my technique on the chrome really made SS really easy. This can only be a good thing though! PK
Well I havent tried a blow dryer..and dont own any grip aides aS I dont know which would help BUT I Just SLIDE SLIDE SLIDE...WHICH sucks. I also Am having the prob with the poles not aligning when I tried to take it down to hide from the BFs SON...GRRR

I had the same problem with my Chrome Xpole, but I got used to it after a while. I have to used MightyGrip or else it's too slippery for me. I also discovered that Aveeno lotion, the fragrance free kind, makes me skin more grip-ier and acts like mightygrip to me. http://www.aveeno.ca/en/products_details.asp?id=3684 I hope that helps. I have the same problem but with my TG. I love the style of my XPert but I hate the TG. I wish I had ordered another chrome. So now I've got this really cool pole that I hardly use. If you lived closer I'd gladly swap. 😮
Yeah I totally understand your pain. I started on a black powder coated lil mynx. The mynx is almost rubberty to touch so as long as it is clean I had no problems with slip. When I got my Xpert Chrome I completely lost my grip. It took a few weeks before I could grip again. I also realized quickly that it takes about ten-15 min of rubbing, spinning and touching the pole to make it hot enough and then it does eventually become more grippy, although it is NEVER as grippy as my mynx used to be. Good luck with yours hun, it does take some time.

I know this is the silliest of silly questions but did you thoroughly clean the pole when you put it up? I only ask cause I had this problem when I got my first pole. I was slipping and sliding like a mo-fo and then my instructor at the time told me to clean it thoroughly with water & vodka cause there are loads of lubes (*dirty giggle*) used on the x-pole parts and they need to be taken off the usable parts. It really made a huuuuuuge difference! If you have already cleaned it thoroughly feel free to "pffffft" at my silly ramblings!! 😀 I like chrome but that may be because that is what I am accustomed to. I have tried TG but I still prefer the chrome. I have also used my washing line pole which is made from steel!!! 😂
All this time and I thought it was my fault. My pole is literally slippery all the time. In Florida there is dry and wet humidity all year round. So far poling has become an all day event for me because I have to experiment with the temperature in the room. I try turning on the ac and the fan, turn off ac open windows and use fan, no fan opened windows, etc. I have tried different cleaning solutions like dawn soap, windex, alcohol, and nail polish remover. I thought for a minute that my hands were too sweaty but I don't sweat anymore than usual unless im working on a new trick. Besides I wash my hands with dawn soap before poling and my hands are so dry that my skin is cracked and still I slip off the pole. I feel like the only time I can pole is when it is hot with no breeze 👎 ....but then of course I'm not comfortable trying to workout in those conditions. Something has to give because I hate that my pole practices keep getting interrupted. 🙁
