I'm finally ready to purchase my first X Pole. I live in an apartment and have thoroughly researched all the good brands and it's X Pole for me. I measured my ceilings and they are EXACTLY 9' tall. Do I need to get an extension for this? I've done searches on here and on google, but I can't seem to find any good info. Can any of you ladies offer some insight?

You will not need to get an extension - out of the box the pole height ranges from 7'4'' - 9 feet. :o)
I just worry because it's at the top of the range. If the carpet "squishes" down too much, I don't want to have a pole that is too loose! Thank you for your quick answer.

I bought the X-Pole Xpert. My ceilings are exactly 9' as well. I did not buy any additional extensions. Mine is on carpet. When I installed it, I had to turn the pole a million times before it was tight to the celing. Because of this, there was not much left of the threaded part of the pole inside the sleeve. I was not confident that it was as sturdy as it could be. I went ahead and ordered the 500mm extension. It was not expensive, but I had to pay for more shipping because I did not get it in the first place. Much more sturdy. So, although the description reads that it goes up to 9', I would highly recommend that you you get the 500mm extension for stability purposes.

My ceiling right now is 9ft and I used a extension like Saphyre. This makes the pole very stable. I have used it at 9ft with out an extension with no troubles, but I really like it with an extension.

I also have 9ft ceilings - I never had an additional extension for my 45 or 50mms when I had those, but I just got a 40mm (yay!) and if you are going with that one, I would definitely get the extension. With it being so much skinnier I found it needed the extra stability - I don't think I would have been comfortable without it.

Another option to consider is making/buying a floor to place under the pole. My pole is right at its limit but won't fit with the next extension up so I'm going to make a floor for it which will mean the distance will be a few mm less and hopefully make it sturdier. The pole has slipped a few times as it is, even with novice moves!
The pole will occupy the space by the dining table, which will have to be moved when I use it. Not a big deal, it's a light table. Still, that makes putting down some sort of flooring on top of the carpet an issue. Plus, it's an apartment. I would like to have a hard floor so I could work in heels (carpet is too cushy), but I don't see how that's possible. Is there any way to order just the X-Pole extension from SV? I ordered my pole yesterday because I didn't know how long the free shipping would last. If I had seen your replies before then, I would have gone ahead and ordered the extension. I got a 45 mm TG pole.

Could you might a lightweight solid flooring that folds away? Couple of bits of plywood hinged on the underside or similar so it folds up and packs away? My pole only goes up temporarily so I'm going to try to make the same kind of thing.
My ceilings are 9 ft and I use no extension. It's very sturdy and so far, so good. *crosses fingers*
I just worry about that type of flooring slipping on the carpet and causing more issues than the pole height itself. I think I'll try it like it is (no extension) and see how it goes. That is, unless SV has a way to let me order just the part I need. Fingers crossed and hoping that they do have a way to do that. If so, I would love them FOREVER!!! (Well, I already do, but I'd love them more! For longer than forever!) If I have to go through X-Pole, I'll really kick myself.

Flooring shouldn't slip as the pole will be a tighter fit and hold it in place. I know there were a few threads and a video posted on here recently of a homemade flooring, could be worth checking out. The problem I found with mine is that if I fit the extension, I don't have the room to mount the pole in place as it's too long, I can't get the poles to meet in the middle and screw together. I have an older style X-Pole though so perhaps that's why, I know the new ones don't screw together the same way.

Does anyone have any answers to the exact opposite case? Does anyone have any experience with exactly 7'4" ceilings with cushy carpeting? I really want to get a pole but I'm afraid it won't even fit...

As always, a call to XPole is always your best bet. I am pretty sure you can order a shorter B piece instead of getting the standard section.
A friend of mine put an xpert in her 7ft basement and had the 750 ext instead of pole b.

My ceiling is 7'3 feet and I have really plush carpet. I've had no issues with my pole at all and it's an xpole 45 mm. I'm only 5"2 but 7"3 isn't all that much room for me so I can't wait til I move. But have someone help you set It up. It's a little confusing when your actually doing lower heights instead of higher. Ny husband and his bf put it up for me
