X-Pole Head-Scratcher...hmmmmm....

/Taps on the back of someone's shoulder. "Is this the line for the 'Spinning Mechanism' window" "Yep." "Great! Thanks!" /Waits in line. So my X-pole is permastatic, I guess 😲 I have one of the old, non x-joint battleships, and I got it used. Whoever sold it to me stripped the hex screw on one side. I can't tell what the condition of the actual inside threads are, because the slot for the wrench is completely stripped so you can't loosen it at all. The way it seems reluctant to turn, I'm half expecting it to be cross-threaded. The other hex screw is fine, the female threads are in perfect condition and I can tighten the screw securely and remove it completely with no issues. It's been like this the entire time I've had it, but up to this point it's never been a problem. Now I'm starting to travel with it a little more than I used to and I don't just want to toss the base plate in the case with the spinning mechanism still attached for a long trip where it's going to get bounced around and mashed in with other luggage in the back of my coupe. Plus I'm worried over time it will damage it having that thing poking out in the case. So how do I get that hex screw out when it's stripped? Once I get it out, I can just take it to the hardware store and match it, but I have no idea how to go about getting the thing outta there. Thanks, troops! 🫡
